      Knowing where the nerve is is key to making this work. I've used it to alleviate pain shooting up my buttock and towards my lower left back and this works, even with the puck above my calf/below the knee. I've used it when hiking and it is definitely not a placebo effect.

      I've used it on for 7 hours and it hasn't given me any relief at all. Maybe I didn’t get it in the correct position, now after see this video, moved it a little bit to one side so the pressure point don’t be in the middle of the leg.

    I had sciatica for two years. Daily pain to the point I wanted to cry at some point. My mother bought me the original one of these about ten years ago for Christmas. I wore it every day for about two weeks… my sciatica is gone. It’s been about 8 years since. I have zero sciatica pain.. I will seat by this thing till the day I die. Whether it works for you or not it worked for me.

    I got one about three weeks ago. I put it on and within about twenty minutes the pain from my hip down to my ankle was totally gone. It was the first time in months that I'd been without pain. It worked _so_ well that I left it on for three days. When I took it off, the pain came back almost immediately. The next day when I put it on it barely worked at all. After adjusting the position over and over again I realized that the pressure device was compressing toward the _back_ of the brace putting less pressure on my calf that it did when I originally got it. I'm going to tape three or four quarters together and place it on the pressure device to see if that makes it work as well as it did at first.
    Wish me luck.

  • @catmomsheri
    @catmomsheri 2 года назад +16

    I received this last night from Amazon. So far I’ve tried numerous variations of positioning with no relief at all. My pain starts at my right hip/upper buttock & goes down the back of my thigh to my front, outer side, and back calf, to the outside of the ankle into the top of my foot. I also have some numbness in my foot and ankle that has developed over time after all the pins & needles sensations daily. I was diagnosed recently with 2 herniated disks which are impinging on the sciatic nerve: the first at the L4-L5, contacting & posteriorly displacing the right L5 nerve root; and also the L5 nerve root is encroached upon by a disc bulge towards the right at the L5-S1. I also have a Schmorl’s node involving the superior end plate of L4, along with multilevel discogenic & facet degenerative changes. I was also diagnosed a few years ago with spinal stenosis. I have been suffering with excruciating pain for months, which started out as a small annoying hip twinge back in the spring. I will NOT take opioids, but am on daily other prescribed meds along with OTC meds, with no relief except when they make me drowsy enough to fall asleep for a few hours. I rarely sleep more than 4 hours at night - sometimes less due to the pain. I had such high hopes for this brace, as a friend of mine tried it with her sciatica and got instant relief. I will keep trying different positions for a few days before I return it. If anyone has any suggestions, please comment. I’m trying to get the ball rolling for a spinal injection, followed by surgery if there injection doesn’t help. I can’t live this way in this much constant agonizing pain. I can’t do anything physically that I could normally do without tearing, shooting , stabbing pain. Life and work is a chore and is not fun.

The pain was coming back strong i put it on and you are showing the right place but after a few minutes if the pain doesn't go away move it a little both directions until you get the full effect. It will still take rest and ice packs but at least you can walk again until the muscles stop pinching the nerve.

    I've been using one of these for a couple weeks. My sciatica had gotten so bad that I couldn't walk down the block without feeling the need to sit down.
    It definitely takes some getting used to in regards to placement, even after 2 weeks, but once I find that sweet spot the pain is COMPLETELY gone. I can move my leg completely normal instead of hobbling around.
    There are still days when I think it doesn't work anynore, but after adjusting for a while I'll find the perfect spot.
    I also noticed even though it says you can wear it outside clothing, it's significantly less effective and much more prone to slipping out of place.
    If you got one of these and it's not working, try feeling around for the nerve in your leg on the outside just below the knee. Make sure the "bump" in the Beactive doesn't shift when you tighten it. Also, I found it's much more effective and easier to place with your knee bent. It took me about 15 minutes the first time to find that sweet spot.
    I think this tool can be effective for performing sciatica stretches that might otherwise be too painful to do otherwise.

  • @lindawolffkashmir2768
    @lindawolffkashmir2768 2 года назад +6

    Does this work? Yes and no. If you have sciatica, pressure on the back of your calf does help, and this brace can apply the correct pressure. However, you have to get the pressure pad in the exact spot for relief, and it may take a while to find the accurate spot. However, if you have radiating pain from spinal stenosis, it’s not as effective.
    It looks like they’ve upgraded it from the one I have, mine is the style that you had to slip up your leg, then Velcro on.
    You’re right, it’s not a permanent solution, but it can offer some relief, especially on a bad day.
    A quick way to know if this may work on you, is to wrap up a small ball or a large marble in a bandana, and tie it to your leg, adjusting the ball to the correct spot on your leg, make sure the bandana is tied pretty tight. If this offers you some relief, the BeActive brace may be a good investment for you.

      Hey Linda! Thanks for that great tip with a bandana and a marble! Genius!!!

    • @lindawolffkashmir2768
      @lindawolffkashmir2768 2 года назад +2

      @@epmanualphysicaltherapy I’ve used this method sometimes at work, when it started acting up during the night, sometimes just the tight bandana or rag is enough to alleviate it. If you can’t find a ball, marble, or similar round object, you can tie the bandana so the knot rests on the pressure point, it’s just enough to get you through.

    Does this work if your pain is on your lower back? My pain is mainly on my lower back but sometimes goes down to my thigh. It’s excruciating for sure!! I know a couple of stretches that relieve it temporarily but it always comes back in minutes. Thank you that you honed in to a key factor in treatment. Always determine and evaluate for the primary source of the pain. PT Charlie Johnson and his advertisement for his services is really against anyone going to see a clinician for their pain especially sciatica.He has has put out a 5 step self-diagnostic protocol which ultimately as you can imagine leads these people to his services anyways. What he tells people is any corrective measure whether be active or passed that causer's pain is not productive. Less moves used is best which would be the least pain producing but more comfortable. He is a dr of P.T. So clinicians know there are multiple lesions and problems are caused hip by and leg pain everything from Sacroilltis, piriformis syndrome, facet syndrome, herniated/bulbing lumbar discs, or myofascitis.

    Amozon has acupressure points and reflexology maps these are without needles. Don't need needles or Doctors, but have to use brace a lot. I believe a acupuncture Doctor can heal you or procedure will last longer with them.
    I know these things work. I have one for my elbow and it's button is a pocket of air.
    I saw a brace like this on TV. My sciatica was hurting so I tied elbow brace on with an ace bandage . I guess I tied it to tight , my burser sac swelled up . Here I am now looking for pressure point relief for that and or exercise to drain🙄🤕
    Best Doctors , I think is when east meets west and work together👍.

      I've had chronic "acute" pain in both sciatica for almost 20 years, I tried acupuncture while I was working in LA, it helped but it didn't last long, as soon as I twisted or jarred my back the wrong way and the pain would be back just as severe as before, but the few hours of relief were worth the price a couple of times a week.

      @@floydholder597 I'm sorry 😞 for those sciatic nerves causing you such pain. Sciatic pain well over 30 + years more off than on. if i can keep a button , maybe its the magnet of the button in the position it actuality stops hurting this i just found 3 weeks ago😌! Bursitis in my knee is being difficult and will not ease up! I got a brace for knee and slipped a magnet ( magnetic back cushion fell apart so I collected the magnetics) on the pressure point in back and just below my knee, under knee brace, it actually takes my sciatic pain away. Although my knee hurts if I do anything for any length of time.
      If I were you I'd place a dome shaped disk in the spot I told you in back of both knees. I'm having trouble keeping pressure point activated or maybe it's more disingagauged, I'm thinking light to medium compression shelves would be better than a brace that cover bellow knee where I put magnet ( the first time i tried i used my elbow brace (( has an air pillow )) magnet was just convenient . I'm thinking a button would work, just need to be gentle pressure , that's what I did wrong and hurt my bruser sack, figured sciatica is a big pain must need firm pressure, I was WRONG!
      Thanks for your reply I forgot I was looking for a pressure point to releave knee pain. That's how much knee pain is😱
      And see i mentality try not to claim the pain as mine.
      keep looking, don't give up , mostly pray, I don't know the mind of God and I can't figure out what good this pain is for. But God , maybe this , caring for you.

      So far, I've been blessed enough not to have much arthritis, my dad had bursitis in one shoulder and one knee if I remember correctly, I mostly just remember I don't want it from what bits I do remember of his pain levels with it.
      My massage therapist just gave me a pair of these "cuffs" a few days ago and I've only had the opportunity to use them a couple of times so far.
      At this point they seem to be helping, I can actually stay up on my feet for more than 5 minutes before having to sit down and recline to take the pressure off the nerves.
      If there is a negative side affect, it appears that whatever pain is alleviated comes back next day as even more stiffness and pain in the muscles affected, but like I said, I've only used them twice, and in full disclosure, I did wear them longer than what he recommended in this video.

    • @christinebean7932
      @christinebean7932 2 года назад +1

      @@floydholder597 glad you got those cuffs . I always have to try to rig things on my own before I actually buy something . Like do I really need to buy something else, how did they come up with this do I already have items to do this. I was a single mom so money was tight.
      I found another pressure point that's helping my knee. The knee brace makes my knee worse. What I'm doing now is taping domed buttons over pressure points and wearing compression knee socks . It is working 💪, for the most part. Took socks off to sleep and knee woke me up , I had left buttons in place so I just manipulated button and it stopped hurting and was able to go back to sleep. I actually manipulated both as their perfect spots for my hand grip. Actually once I learn where these points are I won't need the buttons unless my finger nails don't allow me to find the points.
      These cuffs and what I'm doing is reflexology.
      I know what you mean about after use it cause the surrounding muscle to be sore. I wonder if that is from the pressure point being stimulated and waking up muscles seldom used? Hope that's a good thing. 😉👍
      Merry Christmas, have a blessed season 🙏 ❤ ✨
