"Batman has very little in the way of empathy." Uh... Which Batman have YOU been following? Batman is intensely empathetic. That's why he doesn't kill, and instead tries to treat and help a majority of the villains he fights. Someone who isn't empathetic wouldn't try to better the lives of people who have tried to kill them in the past, but we see that he does with characters like Harley, Harvey, and Dr. Freeze. He relates to them, sympathizes with them, and wants them to recover. While he does see some people as beyond hope (Joker), that isn't the same as lacking empathy.
He also regularly extends his resources to help others. He has taken in multiple children, not just as weapons (I want to say he has been against nearly every one of his children being Robin) but as a part of his family. Even kids like Jason Todd, who tried to steal from him.
I think you confused Bruce Wayne for Lyle Bolton.

that video doesn't even make sense yes he feels anger but he cares about justice, criminals fear him but fear isn't his main weapon of choice he wants to give normal people hope, he feels fear of failure like anything that isn't immortal and invincible, also i think the ring should be able to understand the being on a much deeper level than this shit ''fear, because he scares criminals'' that's simply retarded are you brain dead people, every superhero should either fall in the ring of will or hope, they all have anger and fear and shit but the main reason that they are heroes is because they overcome difficulties with their will and don't lose the path of a hero because they have hope of a better world, batman either falls in will or hope and since he never kills a criminal even if there is 99% chance that this criminal might kill many other people batman still takes the chance that he or she will change for the better... sounds to me like someone needs inncredible amount of hope in order to do something like this it's insanity if you think about it, what a stupid video and people like srsly... batman is obviously like OBVIOUSLY with the ring of hope

TheOne But fear IS Batman's weapon, he uses it to gain info as you always see him interrogating criminals with ONE WORD. This is one of the reasons Batman took Dick, so Dick wouldn't become like him, always avenging his parents. But since Wayne took dick, he has accepted his parents death and is more filled with hope and will.

Actually greed can be for power. Have you seen how he builds contingencies to defeat the justice league, how he builds gadgets for himself so he can fight the criminals. He wants the power to stop the criminals, he doesn't want the cops who he could arm to have that power, he wants his contingencies so he's the most powerful of the justice league since he can defeat all the others. When he's incapable of defeating a foe with his normal suit he builds bat armor. He wants the power to face and defeat any foe at any time.

    • @ludensmolato4769
      @ludensmolato4769 6 лет назад +8

      wolvesleather
That doesn't seem like greed to me. He has plans to defeat the JL if the go Rouge *including* himself so that's just a safety measure. He could arm the cops but I'm pretty sure he'd rather not let them get in harms way, when he could do it all himself because of the skills he has that they don't, that's more like self sacrifice not greed. And of course he'd need to build a bat armor to defeat stronger foes, he's just a regular human there's no way he can take those kind of foes with his regular suit especially the super powered villains. That's the only bit of his greed for power that I can see.

    • @wolvesleather
      @wolvesleather 6 лет назад +2

He has skills, but can't he train the cops to have those skills? If he created his contingency plan couldn't he simply counteract it? He has intelligence and resources, couldn't he simply retrofit Arkham Asylum to keep criminals from escaping once they've been caught? It's cause he doesn't want to lose the power of saying, "I am Batman", he wants the power to defeat every new plan his opponents come up with.

Batman is all of them hence white. To just say he can't be white simply because of his dark costume is silly. He takes advantage of anything he can get his hands on to finish the mission. He would sacrifice his dark color for the entire spectrum of powers. Oh and he is filled with compassion. In order to not only refuse to kill but actually save bad people from getting killed means you have enough compassion for their families. Remember the one time he explained saving some bad guys to one of his Robins? The bad guy's family would be affected? The only way you'd get that concern is through compassion. Plus he does have love for all the people and Gotham and Earth, etc... or he wouldn't do what he does. He might say it is vengeance for what happened to his parents but really it it his compassion for others and he tries to stop bad things from ever happening in the first place.
Hence why the vengeance ring wouldn't work, because it is a reactive emotion, not a proactive one. It isn't for protection it is for after punishing a wrong that already took place. Now Batman does go after criminals who already did bad things, but that isn't his only motive. His hope that he can prevent things from going wrong makes the red ring of rage a bad fit.
Will again is great for him except for being beholden to the Guardians and Fear again is filled with people who have fear in their hearts and so are too cowardly to wear the green ring.
Batman uses all the emotions. He uses Vengeful Rage, he intimidates through Fear, and his Will is legendary (very hard to take control of his mind). He Loves his family and friends and the people he has sacrificed his life for. He has compassion for people even if they don't deserve it. Do you remember Ace's death or the countless times he saved bad people from getting killed? He keeps going via his strong sense of Hope that what he does saves lives. He does have Greed in that he wants control over as much as he can around him. Control can be "material" item as it can manifest in so many ways. He desires full control over his life and he even pushes for control over those he brings into his Batman Core.
So in other words, he embodies all the other rings and can very easily wear the white. It would be the best fit and the only one he'd accept for anything other than a temporary advantage. For it would fuel his righteousness and it isn't controlled by anybody else so he can use it as he sees fit.

Truthfully I feel like Batman could fit into any of the cores other than Avarice.
He has an extremely powerful Will, uses Fear as a weapon, has Hope for the future despite everything that happens which is why he hasn't just given up on the world, has compassion towards the good people of Gotham sacrificing himself for them multiple times, and loves the family he's made (though he doesn't show it). Life and Death are confusing to find examples of why he would fit, but if he died then he would fit the Black lantern and I feel like he could wield the Life ring if it chose him.
The only thing Batman isn't in some way is greedy. Yeah though Red does fit him the most

Fear imo is the best one for him. But as you said he doesn't kill & wouldn't align himself with Sinestro. Maybe an alternate Batman who takes Ra's offer & leads the league of assassins with Talia & becomes a Yellow Lantern in the process. That would be awesome to watch.

Batman is known for having a lot of compassion.
Some of the reasons you gave for hope and love actually describe his high amount of compassion.
If he were in indigo be would be able to use any other rings powers.
Only problem is current indigo lanterns are former criminals being kinda mind controlled.
Whether or not it would have the same effect on Batman, i dont know, but I'd like to believe that its possible for anyone that feels a lot of compassion to become an indigo lantern without mind control.

Funny the top 3 rings Batman used the most is 1. Will(used the most out of all) 2. Fear(He literally has one in the cave just in case green lanterns go wild) and 3. Death(in the recent stories). Personally I believe this makes the most sense cause Bats has more will than most. Brings fear to most including demons. And is a total nialist when evil causeing death like the Grim Reaper himself

I think taking in orphans and adopting them is pretty compassionate. I know it’s not from the comics but the episode where ace of the royal flush gang died in the justice league cartoon, batman showed a lot of compassion, so batman isn’t too closed off to the emotion of compassion. I do agree he wouldn’t be suitable for an indigo ring though.

Green and Red would be his motivation, he excessively knows how to cope with them. Yellow is his tool, but without killing can he become more fearful to his targets?
His lack of power makes enemies underestimate him and when he beats them it bolsters his reputation and leaves other's minds to wonder of his capabilities. He would not prefer a ring at all or accept a ring from time to time to assist, most likely green or blue as those are his least distructive abundant qualities. Red requires a commitment that he would be unlikely desire to uphold. Though Green also requires a commitment as he would have uppers that are hard to ignore and the core functions like a police force or army, and he already doesn't like or do that.
At best I see him either striking a deal as a part-timer for green or using green, blue, or maybe yellow to power a suit for emergency or off-world endeavors. Like another trick up his endless sleeve.
But yes, Red and Yellow would excentuate him best as he is already abundant with will and nearly so with hope. He uses fear and his goal is vengeance/justice.

The blue core/hope fits Bruce Wayne/Batman the most. My reason is simple, in almost every adaptation of justice league batman is the only person to keep pressing on. His parents died and he fights on, dick Grayson dies and he fights on, Jason Todd died and he fought on and even in the cannon versions where Damian dies HE FIGHTS ON. If there was a ring for persistence then batman would have been gifted the ring long ago. However, the reason people can be persistent in some areas is that they have hope, and Batman NEVER loses the hope that he can save a life. Batman would give everything and has given everything for the hope that he can save one more life. Therefore unless there is a ring for persistence then hope/blue is your best bet. Wonder what color persistence would take.... silver? Although persistence and will may seem like the same thing and probably are I'm sure you can separate the two.

I’d say he should be in the Lantern Corps of Life cause like he said, the Lantern Corps of Life is the embodiment of all the emotions together.
Compassion - Batman has compassion for Alfred and in the Killing Joke, instead of beating joker up in the end, Batman offers to help and rehabilitate the Joker.
Love - Batman has love for Selina, Dick Grayson, Talia, and Alfred.
Hope - Batman’s greatest weapon is that he never gives up, no matter and fight or situation he is in. Also he doesn’t kill because he has hope that any criminal has a chance to redeem themselves and be rehabilitated, and that no one is beyond redemption.
Will - Batman has great will power within him and he has worn a Green Lantern Core Ring Several times.
Fear - Batman has the ability to install great gear into criminals.
Avarice - ... well he basically has everything.
    Rage - Batman is vengeance.

The assasin-building was also not really killing, sincd he didn't do it to kill anyone (though he sure as hell didn't mind). Also, he wasn't Batman back then, so I don't think it can count. And no other deaths are ever confirmed, as far as I'm aware. It's never mentioned that he killed cops or henchman.

Hegolin He definitely does kill Two-Face, you could *probably* call his plan of "blowing up the assassin's building on top of them with gunpowder and explosives" just making a way for him to escape (although he was definitely going to kill his parents' killer, so blowing up all of the assassins was most likely on purpose), and he definitely killed at least 1-2 of Talia's henchmen in the Bat/Batwing and caused Talia's death (kind of like how he caused her father's death...) by killing her driver with a missile and causing her to run off the road into an underground area under the highway.

I would believe compassion and rage would have been some of the best fits for Batman. Compassion because he has compassion for justice and his outright competitiveness to defeat his enemies is a form of compassion. That is seen through every athlete, to beat the opposing team means you have to want it. He also uses rage from seeing the injustice of the enemies and trying to tilt that balance back. He uses that rage to serve his fellow man.

The Indigo Lanterns were created by Abin Sur because he wanted to rehabilitate sadistic criminals, as the rings force the wearers to feel empathy that they lack as a means of teaching it to them. To suggest Alfred would belong to the Indigo Tribe shows a complete misunderstanding of what the Indigo Tribe is.
Admittedly when the rings selected deputies during the Blackest Night, the Atom (Ray Palmer) was selected however this is the only known instance of a ring seeking out their bearer as opposed to being forced upon them.

That's the only way the comics could justify the green lantern coming to earth and seeking out Hal instead of Bruce. The man eats, sleeps, and breathes willpower lol. There were fringe comics where batman wielded several rings but they were eventually de-canonized. I mean really though, Batman has the most will power of any human so theoretically he would be the most powerful wielder of the green lantern ring.. That's not much fun from a story telling stand point. They would much rather have multiple green lanterns that are similar in power through their own unique ways.

I Personally would have Batman in The Blue Lantern Corp of Hope as he Brings Hope to the Innocent People of Gotham and Shows they can have Hope still in Such a Corrupt City, Batman always Has Hope which is a Good Thing, and I Think Fear would be Pretty good for Batman aswell because He Brings Fear to the Criminals of Gotham and the Villians he Faces, Rage Would be Pretty good for Batman aswell due to his Anger from what Happened with His parents and he was in Rage and Batman is all about Vengeance just like his Iconic Catchphrase "I AM VENGEANCE, I AM THE NIGHT, I AM BATMAN!" If there was a Lantern Corp that Embraced Hope, Fear, and Rage all Into One would be Perfect. But Since we can Always Choose one, He should be in Rage.

I'd think Batman treasures his independence and unique identity, his independence most of all. I doubt he'd accept having to adopt a certain code (that is not his own), nor would he accept being an underling of greater powers. So even if there's a Lantern corps that wants him, would he want them? I don't think so.

I think Batman would use the blue lantern ring of hope:
    1. He never gives up in a fight, or on his enemy being redeemed
    2. Every time he fought alongside Hal, both of them would be supercharged.
    3. I think Batman is more of a figure of hope in injustice, and even if not, I believe he wouldn’t let it stop him.
    4. It’s only villains who fear him, he gives hope to those who are innocent.

Batman is incredibly empathetic and is driven by a strong sense to alleviate suffering in the innocents. In some versions, he doesn't kill because he believes people at their core are redeemable. There is a strong argument for Batman being an indigo ring wearer
I personally think he would be a better fit for the blue lantern corps because it has no side effects (loss of control or potential death) and there doesn't seem to be any rules like there are with the yellow or green corps. If these two didn't have such a rigid structure, I'd say he's better tuned to willpower than fear. There is nothing that can break Batman (permanently) and while he has an immense capacity to instill fear in his enemies, people who know him do not fear him and are instead inspired by his devotion and will.
The red ring is definitely a good fit but not the best. Batman always chooses justice over vengeance and this has been put to the test over and over in many incarnations of the character.
    Blue ring, no doubt.

No, hope really isn't Batman's thing...Batman doesn't inspire people, Batman scares people.
Batman doesn't try to redeem anybody, he just wants to arrest everybody and send them to jail.
Batman not killing has more to do with Batman's idea of right and wrong, and the fact that Batman is scared of himself, and that just makes Batman the more likely to be a bad guy...just not in ways that ends with killing.
We only know he wont because he gets too many kicks out of being a jerk...I've seen plenty of Batman to know hes a jerk. Sure hes really a good guy, but giving that tough-guy exterior all the time is what makes anyone a jerk.

Yellow fits exceedingly well because of his use of fear as a weapon but also because Batman is afraid of killing. He's afraid that if he kills once he'll no longer be able to control himself and that fear helps shape his character. That being said, Batman's most recognisable character trait is his willpower. This is a man who achieved 12 masters degrees and mastered every martial art known to man. This is a man whose refusal to kill stretches him to his limits. This is a man who goes on a nightly crusade to fight crime

  • @felixrivera895

I'd say Blue. Usually the entire theme surrounding Batman is one of grim hope inspite of the dark reality he lives in.
He holds hope that he can fix Gotham.
He holds hope that his enemies can be rehabilitated.
He holds hope that the heroes of the universe will remain heroes.
And most importantly: he inspires the hope of the Bat Family. Maybe he isn't the large scale symbol of justice, honor, and safety like Superman, but he is a very, very powerful symbol of hope. He is a parigon of hope, but only the strong willed look to him and see a path they can follow, like the Bat Family.
Fear is a duelled edged blade. Think of the kishan in Soul Eater. He was the god of fear. Built from his own fear. In order to fully understand fear and weild it, you'd have to be full of fear, just like the other lantern powers. A wearer of the yellow ring would have to seek it's power because they are afraid of what they will be without it, a common villain trope btw.
I have even heard that the purple rings will fill you with compassion and overwhelm you. The same is likely to be said for the red rings, although to a lesser degree. The red rings seem to take the rage that already exists within you and wipes away the other emotions, leaving you a vessel for revenge.
Batman has dark motifs, but his story is [almost] always one of true justice, personal strength, and pure hope.

Quick lore question: does the ring wielder feel the emotion himself and powers the ring or does he inflict the emotion on others and that's what powers the ring? Take Sinestro...what's he so afraid of that makes him a constant thorn in GL's side? It would make more sense if his ring is powered by making others fearful.

as most agree in comments, batman's best match is Green Will Power and Yellow's Fear as these are both of Batman's strongest characteristics. He has abundant willpower as he's willing to take on any threat even if he has zero hope to win (i.e. fighting superman or other superpowered beings even when he doesn't have his gadgets or custom suits with him), so in other words he's fearless which is the perfect green lantern and is boosted by a blue lantern greatly due to his "there's always a way, there's always hope" mentality when fighting these super powered threats..
Then there's the fact that his main goal is strike fear in the hearts of villians, he's able to scare criminals and even superpowered villians in ways and more than even Sinestro and Parallax ever could, and he does this without a yellow ring.. so this fact alone would make him the one of the, if not the most powerful yellow ring wearer if he had one due to his natural ability to play with the minds of, uncover, tap, and manipulate people's fear.
So since there are users of multiple rings, i think batman would get chosen by both a yellow and green ring.

  • @fromdarktothelight9788
    @fromdarktothelight9788 6 лет назад +5

Blue would be perfect for Batman as a superhero. He is already OP as crap. So adding flight and a defensive barrier to his current way of doing things would be the most effective thing for him instead of relying on constructs to fight. It would allow him to fight strong enemies without being hurt, but he could still get in and fight them with martial arts. Therefore not changing his style and what makes him effective, but allowing him to fight straight up against anyone. It would be Batman with a heavy armor suit, but without the heavy armor, and with all of his mobility, even more because flight would be an additional option.
Also as the video stated he never gives up hope. That is his one actual ability. He never stops believing that things can be made better, he never gives up trying to make it happen. And never believes an enemy can't be beat, no matter how powerful they seem. The good news for Batman is that hope isn't an emotion. If it was he may have trouble with it. But instead it is a belief or a desire to have something happen. And Batman has more belief that he can change the future for the better than just about anyone. He may make his enemies feel fear, but when you see him helping the Justice League vs powerful enemies, they aren't afraid of him. There is no fear being used as a tactic. It's a tool he has in his toolbox, but it isn't his greatest strength. His greatest strength is his hope. The belief that he will win, and that good will defeat evil. That is hope. Even when it seems like all hope is lost, it's not lost to him, ever. That is his greatest strength, not fear.

Honestly all of the rings would work for Bruce (which is probably why he’s had all of them before). He is full of rage at times in comics, especially when it involves fighting criminals that have wronged his family. He isn’t too greedy, but I’m sure he can be at times. The whole reason he chose to be BATman is because it instilled fear into him and would do so to others, which undeniably worked. He has the will to keep on going after everything that has happened in his life to protect Gotham and will do anything to do so. Bruce is a symbol of hope for Gotham and, while he may not always have hope himself, keeps going to be that for others to try and make the city better. He has compassion for his family (if he didn’t they would probably leave him more often). He loves his family, even if he has a hard time showing them, and would do anything for them.
He has all of the emotions, most in a very dominant way, and they all flow into the other. For example, he loves his family, leading him to rage when they are taken from him. He loves his city, leading him to become a symbol of hope for it, which he does by inciting fear, and has the will to keep protecting it because of this love. He is so complex with the core lantern emotions that I think you either need to give him all or none of the rings to truly reflect him. That said, he could wield any of the rings (except mayyybe for greed, but I’m sure you could make a case for that).
