Green lanterns are probably one of the greatest comic book characters of all time, the creativity you can do with these guys, the endless possibility of constructs! Also they’re green :)
Guy Gardner directly beating Dr. Manhattan during the "Doomsday Clock" was the most memorable moment of the comic. I bet Jon found in Guy's personality a certain reminiscent to the Comedian

I’ve always been partial to Red Lanterns myself, it’s just so metal. Especially the ones that can gain enough control of their rage to make conscious decisions, because they are so much stronger as a result.
I love how Hal couldn't stop laughing at Earth-C heroes while attending Captain Carrot's funeral even though he has a freaking squirrel for a co-worker 😅
I was never a big Green Lantern fan until I read Geoff Johns's work. That is honestly one of the best comic book runs I've ever read and I'd highly recommend it to anyone with even a passing interest in the medium.
@@leoalcaraz6153 Absolutely. Johns even managed to provide a perfect ending to the Green Lantern mythos by his run's conclusion, so much so that I wouldn't blame anybody for not wanting to read any Green Lantern comics after his.
Guy Gardner's run as the red lantern corps leader helped me come to terms with my immense anger issues, so the lanterns hold a special place in my heart. Razer becoming a Blue/Red also certainly helped.
As a neurodivergent person who loves music and likes to paint ( I can draw but I’m not really good at it) I love the green lantern lore and I’m one of the few people who understands it. My favorite lantern is John Stewart, I like his personality and he’s the first black superhero I saw on tv teaching me that black people can be superheroes too. I also learned from him that those “tough guys” are not as tough as you think, and to stand up for yourself even if you’re afraid. If you’re afraid something be afraid but do what you need to do anyway.
man growing up during the 90s, Kyle was one of my favorite green lanterns because he himself was an artist. i always thought it was so cool how his construct werent just "hollow" because of that
Green Latern was pretty quick to rise the ranks of my favorite superheroes back when I first discovered his comics. I didn't really mess with DC that much when I was a kid, since me and all of my friends were much more into Marvel, and all the time they told me I wasn't allowed to like both. But back then, there was just something so alluring about the Green Latern mythos to me, that I finally gave in and decided to give DC a chance just so I could figure out what it was about this dude that I liked so much. And right then, I instantly became obsessed. No joke, I became so obsessed that I actually wished to be a Green Latern. (Mostly Kyle but any of the others would have been cool too.) Not to mention the fact that with my discovery of Green Latern, I was also opened up to the rest of DC's universe as well, so I really owe it a lot.
green lantern always has special place on my heart. It might seems weird but Green Lantern movie is actually what got me into the comic books. I learned about their power through that movie and it hooked me right away.
*I love the Green Lantern stories so much as well. I was first introduced to Green Lantern by watching the Green Lantern: Animated Series which got me into reading the comics. The Geoff Johns run introduced me to this whole new universe of sci-fi lore, mythology and a deep exploration into the validity and importance of life, our willpower to endure, and our emotions with superb characters and amazing concepts and settings. I love Green Lantern so much Ive even dedicated time to writing scripts for 6 film Green Lantern saga of movies all revolving around GL, with my own ideas, castings and adapting iconic stories, Iv made character sketches.* *Green Lantern is a franchise just aching to be explored on the big screen and luckily we finally have a chance to see Green Lantern make a big comeback in the DCU in the early development of the Lanterns tv series.* *I truly believe Green Lantern has the potential to become DC's Star Wars*
With all of the creative bankruptcy going on these past years, now is the time for creatives to build great new stories, for both original and established properties. I wish you the best. I hope you get to create something amazing.
The two things you need to succeed at anything in life are willpower and imagination. I have no idea why Green Lantern isn't on every one's desk, work bench, or studio wall.
The Current Hal Jordan Run by Jeremy Adams is Awesome, and I'm Excited to see the Corps again Speaking of the Corps, the Green Lantern Corps omnibus by Peter J Tomasi releases August 22nd!!
I love green lantern too especially the green lantern Corp who are all really awesome and badass, especially my favorite lantern John Stewart who’s really awesome and is personally my favorite green lantern growing up on the justice league the animated series.
It's a shame Kyle Rayner didn't become one of the DCAU's main characters after his introduction in the Superman series. He definitely deserved much more protagonism in the DCAU and other movie/ tv shows. I mean, he banged Donna Troy and Jade. HOW CAN YOU JUST IGNORE THE EXISTENCE OF A BADASS CHARACTER LIKE THAT?!
Kyle Rayner DEFINITELY deserves more love, and he might possibly be the greatest GL, even though I love them all, and hopefully, down the line the character can make a comeback
the wasted opportunity that he wasn't in Justice League Unlimited show because he has a history with Wally West :/ it will be interesting to see these two together in cartoon series:/
You won't regret it truly opened my eyes to how many amazing stories and great worldbuilding the Green Lantern Corps contributes to the DC Comics universe and it has such great characters and well-written stories revolving around fear, the validity of emotion and our existence while keeping you engaged with fun, interesting and loveable characters. Green Lantern as a whole feels like a highly underrated pillar of DC comics that gets overlooked given how poorly received the 2011 film was, but luckily it seems like the character is making a big comeback in comics, and live-action with the upcoming Lanterns TV series to be set in James Gunn's DCU. You can also check out the Green Lantern Animated Series which adapts many elements from the Geoff Johns run. sadly the series was unceremoniously cancelled over the failure of the 2011 live-action film
Green Lantern is one of my favs too. I used to write Justice League stories on an old DC/Marvel message board in my teen years and GL was probably the hero I most wrote about more than most with Hal, Carol, John, Kyle, Guy, Jessica, Simon, Sinestro, Atrocitus, Bleez and Black Hand among others taking centre stage a few times. I would've done a spin-off story of a Hunt for the White Lantern story just with them, but the message board got shut down before I got around to it.
I sincerely thank you for making this video. I've been meaning to get back into comic books for a long time now, been about 5 years now. Only got into reading comics books about 12/13 years ago, but Blackest Night is where I started. Green Lantern is my favourite superhero, and this video has given me that extra kick to just bite the bullet and dig it out tomorrow and jump back in. Cheers dude
Blackest Night is one of my all time favourite comics. I mostly collect Lantern villains (Atrocitus, Larfleeze, Sinestro, Blackhand), and they have some of the best writers and artists working on their comics.
My favorite Green Lantern is John Stewart ever since I saw him on Justice League animated show. He was a military, his willpower constructs were awesome, he made out with Hawkgirl. John is for me the TRUE Green Lantern.
Don’t worry, man. It’s not corny that Green Lantern inspired you to face your fears. Quite the opposite, in fact. That’s exactly what comic book superheroes are meant to do: Inspire us to be like them.

Everyone let's say it: "In brightest day, and blackest night, No evil shall escape my sight, Let those who worship evil's might, beware my power, Green Lantern's Light!
I’ve personally always been fascinated by the Orange Lanterns (technically Orange Lantern) solely because of everything about Larfleeze. The 12 issue comic about his origin and the random adventure that occurs during that series will always be one of my favorites. Seeing Larfleeze kill off these all powerful beings in order to get his butler back and one of the beings falling in love with him being bested by him in combat 😭. There’s also the fact of Larfleeze having insane potential for power wielding all the other orange lanterns he’s killed in his ring and being a living power battery, but being restricted by his avarice being the only thing he cares about. He’s just such an interesting character to me, I would love to see a video on him by you as well.

Grant Morrison chose Rayner over Gardener specifically because he was looking for the most powerful iteration of the character. The JLA were intended to fight entities far beyond the universes norm, so every character in the main 7 was given a significant power boost to compensate.
