I agree. As a mechanical engineer, I will push my children and loved ones NOT to go to college. I can't tell you how many tradesmen made more money than me after graduation and still make comparable salaries to me 10 years later and $65k of debt.

I'm going to a trade school for an electrician technician, and I can say he's on point. I'm learning things that I was like oh so that's how you do that and safe

I'm a 2nd year apprentice plumber and in Canada I go to BCIT and tuition is like 1500 dollars and we make almost quadruple that in a paycheck

A lot of college bashing lately out there. Both trades and college have value. Sometimes college helps shape a person rather than just the goal of looking for a salary. It's over priced for sure, but there are pathways to limit debt.
    Trades are great too.

College is required for many professions, for better or worse. Whether or not it's worth it just depends on what you want to pursue.

Not sure I'd say 'many'... Some, for sure though, for better or worse.

I live in Connecticut. I wanted to get into the trades, but schools here want 30k for 1 year. Applied for the union, that's a shot in the dark. So, I'm going to biomedical engineering for free (as long as I pass the classes!)

Mann I’m having a hard time getting into any plumbing apprenticeships near me (both Union and Non Union). Does anyone have any tips for me?? (I’m currently studying for apprentice test at the Union nearest to me)

Roger is right. Starting in the trades is a great strategy. If you *really* want a college degree, then work for it on the side. No matter your choice, whatever you do, do the best you can. The BEST you can!

@@RogerWakefield No, I'm not. I'm a civil/structural engineer who has immense respect for people who can get sh*t done and done right. It's been my honor to work with tradesmen my whole life, and I often think I should have considered that path. I'm not complaining, Roger. I've had a good life, one far better than I deserve. And I wish the same for everyone.

Hey Roger, I actually just started re-watching your videos. I was just accepted in my local unions apprenticeship program today, and am scheduled to take the math exam on the 29th. What math should I be studying for?

I just finished my first year of apprenticeship in Minnesota. I took the aptitude test last year. Study and overview of fractions, basic geometry, algebra and statistics. It’s not bad at all, if you study just a few hrs you’ll do great
