My best guess is the judge has to consider the welfare of the children involved. Besides it will cost the state money to Foster the children and judges hate that "more money in their pockets."

You think this is something . I seen a case on one of those crime shows, where a couple, a couple set up a guy, by pretending to want to buy his XBox, that he advertised on Craiglist. They met at a remote location like a parking lot, or something. The seller and fake buyers arrived, the boyfriend, during the transaction, grabbled the XBox, and struggled with the seller, in a tug of war type action, with no weapon, only attempting to physically steal the gaming system. Then, the girlfriend pulled out a gun, shot across the car, and killed the man. Get this: She got a 'deal' to testify against her boyfriend, who didn't have the weapon, or fire the shot, and got no time in prison, for testifying against him, who got "Life in Prison". I know, it'll make your head spin ! No prison time and she pulled the gun, fired the shot, killed the seller of the XBox, but she got no robbery, murder, accomplice to murder charge at all. Google it ! 😲
I'm thinking she shouldn't do any time. She didn't tell him to kill the guy. Almost any woman would tell their man he called me a bitch. But, you're right about the woman usually getting less. I've been saying this for years.

As a 10 year old I witnessed a horrible helicopter crash that killed two. It was Santa Claus and the pilot that died that day ! It was a publicity stunt to welcome the Christmas season to the shopping center. I have never forgotten that day nearly 60 years later !

I use to live in the town homes across the street. I remember walking to that Speedy Mart the morning of 9/11, having that shocking empty feeling. It's a memory that comes to mind whenever I think of that day.
