The topsides are absolutely gorgeous! 😍 Indeed, the entire boat looks great. Owner must have money to burn to spend that much knowing he'd never come close to getting it back.
im afraid we are all subject o the laws of supply and demand ...when was the last time you sold a car you bought new ? We all get caught in this trap but we share such a short time on this earth and we cant take it with you Ha! Might as well make ourselves happy while we are here and btw create jobs for boatyards etc
Again I love the toe rail embedded chocks. I have seen too many chocks screwed down on the top of the toe rails shatter the toe rails at the worst possible time for my liking. I love embedded toe rail chocks. Nice toe rail height there too. The bright work is gorgeous. Deck fittings are rather well top shelf. Table is looking perfect but for the lack of fiddles. Sole looks on camera to be solid wood, not laminate beyond perhaps the surface. I would have enjoyed you flipping over that sole piece you pulled to get a better look at that. Her condition is rather incredible from what I can see through the camera. Hand holds overhead are preferable here but the drip rails,,, whatever would easily suffice. The high gloss interior wood finish is a bit off putting here. I would rather a satin finish. The price is not too out of line IMHO but when stacked up against like a Shannon 43 well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,. Yawls do not put me off at all compared to a ketch. In fact there is more room for a solar panel array that is not as shaded so much like on a ketch sooooo, a few points on that. For me you have to go rather deep to find a boat of that size I would consider over a Shannon 43. I wish you had spent a bit more time on the interior and the keel on this one though. To me anything over 40' = 3 cabins. V-berth filler would be a must have for me. Yeah, all those electrics at the companion way is not a plus. The deck fittings appear to be superior to most. Slim beam to me is a plus for performance,,,,,,not so much for luxurious comfort. Better sea ride though. Her pricing isn't far off my mark though despite her incredible attributes I think the same money put into a similarly kept Shannon 43 (if one can be found) would be a better investment despite the performance hit that might entail. Chart table was a bit small. Most want a forward facing chart table. To me that's nothing. There must be a boatload of room in the lazarette. Not even a 1/4 berth? That was not evident in the video. The keel to me would have been most better understood had you spent a bit more time on it. 4" or more high grade latex foam would be a must have for me on those cushions. It appears to me that there is an aft cabin as pr the hatch spray hood behind the cockpit.
there is a Shannon 43 not far from me for less it's all in the eye and mind of the viewer as to what turns them on and where they plan to sail and with whom and why ...a lot of good observations here
@@YachtHunters Oh gee Captain, I want to sail the Horn! I want to sail it with one close to me and two others who are happy and comfy with each other. 4 on and 12 off to me is perfect. Splendid boat. We have a P41 yawl that sails by us. One of the prettiest boats around. I love to see a boat built over 60 years ago that looks brand new. I'll gladly sell our house and buy this boat instead, as soon as I receive permission from my budget director. Otherwise known as dear wife. I'm sure she will agree with me.
Well, the checkbook is out and the wife held her tongue! However, she doesn't want to SAIL it, she wants to donate it to a museum! Arggghhhh- I can't WIN! What a tasty treat she is, and- color me crazy, but- she looks very familiar? Perhaps it's the design, perhaps its the lines, but, methinks she spent her entire life in the waters of Northern New England, oh say between Vinal Haven & the Long Island Sound? Sadly, she'll never look as good as she does right now- just add water! Hahaha- a lovely lass is she! Thank you for such eye candy (and a lovely restoration). Good on Hinckley for doing it. I always wonder if they (Hinckley) say 'No, not enough pedigree' or 'No, not well enough designed' or 'No, she would've come apart in the 1st blow' or not pretty enough pieces to restore...I guess if there are enough zeros in the checkbook....Not my issue!
spot on all around ...sorry about your confused bride but i bet she would see the light the first night you are anchored in a quiet cove ...a can of Dinty bubbling and the Frexinet chilling and the song of the Loons across the harbor and maybe some soft Peter Nero playing

>specially for you Ran-Day ;) You might like to present this on a plaque, to the Captain some time. "Non Deficere Rotam." Or, never give up the wheel! ;)
Beautiful yacht but there appeared to be a lot of other intriguing boats in storage too. Lots of future reviews too it seems. Was this a Hinkley storage facility?
beautiful boat - what is the headliner made of? is it painted wood or Formica? always worried if can't get to the nuts for fittings that are thru bolted.
Another lovely boat and great video! Thank you so much for making such great content. Just one question, what is the beautiful wooden boat that you show in the intro? Thanks!
Good question! that is an international rule 12-meter boat designed by Charles Morgan to contend for the Americas cup She didn't make the cut but now owned by delightful couple who take paid daysails out of Newport RI all summer "heritage"
plum bows have been around for hundreds of years and used in Dutch sailing vessels and early euro/American yacht designs It wasn't until yacht design became an industry providing boats with hull designs for racing and having to deal with "rules" that the keels were cut away and this gave way to the spoon or curved bows . These boats generated additional water line length when heeled and fit the rules . They also created designs pleasing to the eye. but like dress styles what goes around often returns . today in the new world of floating Ikea condo featureless floating dormitories , the designers have caved to volume and speed .Thy now produce waterline designs that match overall length and Gain a knot or two of speed but at the expense of creating unmemorable vessels by the handful to voyagers that will rarely leave the mooring ...don't get me started i guess i did hey thanks for watching
Dreaming of finding a deal boat. Thank you for looking in the warehouse for this one. Why buy a million dollar boat when this is available at at 1/3. Yawls did good on this one😂
Hey Captain q got a question what is the boat that you have with your captain q cell how big is it and what's the brand on it or correction model and manufacturer
A beautiful restoration of a beautiful boat although I do have to question the wisdom of putting that much money is an almost 60 year old boat. If this boat and the Dutch built 42' steel Puffin sailed into a harbor at the same time it would be a close contest to determine which boat was indeed the CYNOSURE. Both are similar in that they are about the same length and about the same price but have otherwise nothing else in common except that they are both great boats. Excellent find...as usual.
It definitely is a beautiful boat with an incredible refit/restoration by Hinkley, but I would have a hard justifying $325K for a 59 year old boat that would be comfortable for 1 couple when you could buy a modern boat just a few years old for the same price that has exponentially more usable interior volume.
@@YachtHunters I know captain I've been following for years. You are a real sea dog and you introduced me to beautiful sailboats that are hard to see in the Mediterranean ... good wind
A follow up for those who don't understand the situation. This is like restoring a 1936 Bentley Le Mans car.. An object de art. Not merely a boat but a Rembrandt. Truly not for everyone and admittedly not super practical. Dollars spent even if only 500,000 vs ask is reasonable. Look at the price of a new Hinckley 42(?) Daysailor.
This restoration was a labor of love by the owner and well executed by Hinkley. Some of the feedback is correct from a financial perspective this is a tough sell. From an artistic perspective is is simply gorgeous. Hopefully the right buyer comes along. We did a similar restoration to our 1977, 36ft Jarvis Newman downeast power boat. We recieve positive remarks about how beautiful she is. Hallelujah (the boat) was one of the boats of the year in Maine Boats, Homes and Harbors and last November she was featured in Soundings Magazine. We will never recoup the cost of renovations but the positive comments we receive are worth a lot to us as was preserving a classic. We always look back when we leave her at the mooring on the way to the dock.
Right. To me, this was a passion project of the original owner. The only person this boat makes sense for is the person who didn't grow up sailing but came to it later in life, never owned a boat but is competent enough to own their own now, rich enough that they've decided on a brand new 40-45 Beneteau (or some such thing), but can be steered to this instead. And you convince them that this boat is way better built, will outlast them, and will be a head-turner in a way that is not true of the Beneteau. That person is out there, and this is the boat I push them towards. It may not have all the creature comfort of newer boats, but the person I've described is going to be a day sailor, and doesn't need all that stuff. This is the boat to bring a small party, impress your friends, have folks go by yelling "beautiful boat" all day long, and then pull in to the club, for more of the same dockside.
We love the believers This is a special boat and those today are getting fewer and fewer., and the waterways are getting clogged with the ikea condos. this discussion can go on and on but it all goes to the death of the crease!
Remarkable restoration but for a 1965 sailboat $325,000 is absurd. However, in ten years she will depreciate to a little more than a normal Pearson 41 is selling for. They not are not cars, you can't put them in a garage, drive a few miles and action them off in 10 years. Only classic wooden sailboats have a following. You can purchase a lot more sailboat for $325,000.
I was thinking the same thing. The other $300k boats Captain Q has featured offer much better value and are more interesting, to be sure. For a 1965 that doesn’t have a sought after pedigree, I think the seller would be lucky to get half of what they are asking.
Please explain how this boat is better than the real Hinckley 41 restoration done awhile ago for asking price of $129K...??? No way is this owner getting anywhere near what he is asking no matter how much he spent.
Things don't seem so expensive now when compaired to Musk buying twitter which is really just a web page for 45 BILLION..what an amazing world...beautiful sailboat...

@@YachtHunters For sure. I do hope the owner was able to enjoy the boat out on the water in its current state of glory, however.
During the day everyone is most probably up and about and aware. So only formal night watches are mandatory. Cover the nights and the days take well care for themselves. The Straights of Magellan west bound and then turn down towards the Horn and run back east. Nothing stories for the grandchildren Sailing in circles of sorts. I'll radio ahead coming into the Falkland's so the bars will be ready.
Wow! Just...wow!
wow back to you
Love your content thanks for making these!
this should be called the beautiful sailboat show. Time to show us some Beautiful Powerboats. There was a pretty Lobster Yacht in this vid. I have asked many times, do you have something against Stink Pots, as my Father used to call them. Great show.
MY FATHERS FIRST BOAT WAS A 50' CHRIS CRAFT. I MADE A PASSAGE FROM Buffalo TO Daytona IN 1950 . since THEN I HAVE OWNED A SERIES OF SMALL OUTBOARDS FROM AN old town LAAPSTRKE , A SANGSTERCRAFT, A 16 ' CHRIS CRAFT WHICH I COMPLETELY REFINISHED AND LAST WAS A Willard
VEGA 30' TRAWLER THAT MY FRIENDS ALL CALLED THE FISHER PRICE TOY...LOVED THAT ONE
GETTING VERY CLOSE TO TRAWLER AGE MIGHT HAVE TO CAVE
Stunning!!!! 😊🙏
Hi there! Do you know much about 35ft Pearson Yawl? We are looking at one, never considered a Yawl before. Any insight would be great!
thanks for sharing
thank you for watching
Splendid boat. We have a P41 yawl that sails by us. One of the prettiest boats around. I love to see a boat built over 60 years ago that looks brand new. I'll gladly sell our house and buy this boat instead, as soon as I receive permission from my budget director. Otherwise known as dear wife. I'm sure she will agree with me.
M
good start
Beautiful boat, a classic brought back to life. However, my eye caught that nifty grey Fortier 26 sitting next door. Love those boats
:-)
How bout video of you guys sailing Randay'S new boat?
as soon as he can that will be up and running still work to-do
I'll start saving up for her right after I come up with the money for a good, used Sunfish.
Nice episode
thank you
$1 Million, wow that must have been a labour of love....
i believe so considering he just went in for a mani pedi lol
But they got a PILLOW!
Now that's a BOAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i have to laugh my father rest his soul , when handed a new born baby always covered himself in glory ,regardless of what was wrapped in the blanket , with : "NOW THATS' A BABY !!!!!!"
Is the same hull design as a Bounty?
She ✔ all the boxes. Love her❤
Yes
Ran-day and Madeline Albright? Oh, yes I’m intrigued.
How about the “Six Degrees of Separation” from Mr. Ran Day?
It’s a beautiful boat. I’d sell my house and go live in a condom-inium just to have her! I’d live aboard 10 months a year.
Cheers, gentlemen. (you high society folks!)
Beautiful boat and given the amount spent for the restoration, not a bad price, albeit not for me. Enjoyable review as always. Thanks, Capt. Q and Ran-day.
deals come in all sizes of packages this is a great deal
>specially for you Ran-Day ;) You might like to present this on a plaque, to the Captain some time. "Non Deficere Rotam." Or, never give up the wheel! ;)
what would i do without Randay...........hmmmmmm
Beautiful yacht but there appeared to be a lot of other intriguing boats in storage too. Lots of future reviews too it seems. Was this a Hinkley storage facility?
Burr Brothers remote
beautiful boat - what is the headliner made of? is it painted wood or Formica? always worried if can't get to the nuts for fittings that are thru bolted.
i can check but believe me all the nuts have been gotten to already
Captain, how about an update on Randay’s vessel.?
as soon as he gets back
Another lovely boat and great video!
@@YachtHunters Thank you so much for letting me know. She's a real beauty!
What's the difference in a Plumb Bow versus a Slanted Bow in all major aspects?
plum bows have been around for hundreds of years and used in Dutch sailing vessels and early euro/American yacht designs
It wasn't until yacht design became an industry providing boats with hull designs for racing and having to deal with "rules" that the keels were cut away and this gave way to the spoon or curved bows . These boats generated additional water line length when heeled and fit the rules . They also created designs pleasing to the eye.
but like dress styles what goes around often returns . today in the new world of floating Ikea condo featureless floating dormitories , the designers have caved to volume and speed .Thy now produce waterline designs that match overall length and Gain a knot or two of speed but at the expense of creating unmemorable vessels by the handful to voyagers that will rarely leave the mooring ...don't get me started i guess i did
hey thanks for watching
Dreaming of finding a deal boat. Thank you for looking in the warehouse for this one. Why buy a million dollar boat when this is available at at 1/3. Yawls did good on this one😂
Thank you
What has happened to the moulds for these great old boats?
some ly behind warehouses growing weeds some are preserved and probably most are destroyed to make room for the new stuff
Hey Captain q got a question what is the boat that you have with your captain q cell how big is it and what's the brand on it or correction model and manufacturer
sorry re= phrase please
Amazed🥂
Same here!
Two different original design concepts Both will work equally well for their intended uses
Inshore and offshore
Nice antique….but couldn’t stop comparing this deal to the $349k Puffin 42 reviewed a few months ago.
two different boats with two different futures ,,,one local the other a wanderer
Hey Raaanday....you have the link titled as an Aloha 32....
Thanks, mate!
Do you lads know of Christian Williams Sailing videos? West Coast stuff and GOOD!
We do. He’s very entertaining, a little nuts, but aren’t we all
After having used the expression 5'12" on numerous occasions myself I am now fully vindicated ;-)
:-)
It definitely is a beautiful boat with an incredible refit/restoration by Hinkley, but I would have a hard justifying $325K for a 59 year old boat that would be comfortable for 1 couple when you could buy a modern boat just a few years old for the same price that has exponentially more usable interior volume.
It has its niche for sure
You can really see the Hinkley in her
no question
Love the boat, but I couldn't afford the annual maintenance of just the varnish.
just materials the rest is up to you
Beautiful, but to me Cynosure would require one would need a a sinecure.
love it !!!and you are so right
Beautiful sailboat, too bad it costs too much for my pockets greetings from Italy
thank YOU YOU HAVE LOVELY VESSSELS OVER THERE AS WELL
@@YachtHunters I know captain I've been following for years.
Look at the price of a new Hinckley 42(?) Daysailor.
eggzackly :-)
We love the believers This is a special boat and those today are getting fewer and fewer., and the waterways are getting clogged with the ikea condos. this discussion can go on and on but it all goes to the death of the crease!
hello holy crap one million for 28 feet water line, why spending so much money in this boat. nice video, saludos
Good question! Its love we all do crazy things for it don't we
@@YachtHunters hello yes you are correct, the was this lady that removed plenty of my money. saludos
NVR RELINQUISH THE WHEEL !!! RANDaY
Now you tell me!!
beautiful boat, but a little too cramped for the size and money for me.
that's OK that leaves it available for the next in line thank you for watching
Please explain how this boat is better than the real Hinckley 41 restoration done awhile ago for asking price of $129K...??? No way is this owner getting anywhere near what he is asking no matter how much he spent.
Hopefully that information will be shared and your comparison is somewhat apt
Things don't seem so expensive now when compaired to Musk buying twitter which is really just a web page for 45 BILLION..what an amazing world...beautiful sailboat...
