Happy Birthday lynn for Thursday. You will both love Brixham, hope the weather is good for you. Sophie's 93yr old grandma lives there and so we visit often. Do the boat trip across the bay to Torquay, it's great. And do visit the Blue Anchor pub for a pint or two of Dartmoor's 'Jail Ale'. It's my 'local' in Brixham !! You will leave 'Hammered' !! Another nice local on the harbour is the 'Crown and Anchor'. Great for meeting the trawlermen when they come in from the boats and the locals. Look out for the seals in harbour and send our love to Grandma. We'll be down there later in the year. Dave and Soph xx

Pity there were no speed cameras in that 30mph. I've just done a speed awareness for 35 in 30mph. We are going to see our friends in rapido caravan club rally in Brixham next week. Hope you had a good time there and took your own water.

Hi Rob &LYnn just laughing at your choice of birthday gift some years ago my hubby asked me what I wanted for my birthday I said I want a dish washer leave it to me he said the day arrived and a lorry turned up the chap said where do you want it I said in the kitchen he just looked at me odd he said the only dishes I have is a satalite dish He had a full load of them and when it was Christmas I asked for a bracelet I got a mobile phone which he used Unbelievable

That’s standard practice for an insurance claim, the person that caused the accident might admit it’s their fault at the time, but their insurance company tell them to deny responsibility. Insurance companies are quick enough to take your money, if you don’t pay up they instantly void your insurance. But as soon as they might have to pay out they take their time and try to wriggle out of it to pay out the minimum. I bet in the end your insurance will pay out just because they can’t be othered to fight the other company. So it’ll cost you the excess payment, plus have a claim on your record, sorry but it’s happened to me as well.
Another thing I found out years ago to my cost. Protected no claims discount cover isn’t worth the paper it’s written on, let alone the extra charge for it. Years ago in 1988 I had an accident which wasn’t my fault, someone pulled out of a side road right in front of me and I hit him right in the side. He got prosecuted for driving without care and attention, so was definitely responsible. I’d paid for protected no claims discount cover at the time, so I thought I’d be OK. The other guy didn’t have insurance so my company had to pay for my claim, which as I had full 65% NCD with protection, I didn’t think it was a problem. All fine so far, until my insurance came up for renewal, the premium had more than tripled in price. When I contacted my insurance company and asked what happened to my no claim discount they told me I still had my 65% discount because I’d paid the extra premium to protect it. But because the other guy who caused the accident didn’t have insurance, and they couldn’t recover the money from his insurance company, I now had an unsettled claim on my record so they had to adjust my gross premium. So I was now getting a 65% discount off what was now a massive gross premium. Because I was stuck with an unsettled claim on my record I couldn’t change companies until the time limit for having to declare it was up, at that time three years. I ended up repaying very nearly all the money they’d paid me for my claim.
Guess what, I’ve never had protected no claim discount protection since! Vehicle insurance is no more than legalised robbery in my view!
Wow, what an awful experience, this is the first time we have ever made a claim, ever, and the company we are with, we’ve been with them for over 20 years.
It’s absolutely disgusting how you were treated, we will let you know how we get on, but we do agree with what you said, they probably won’t even bother fighting it

Unfortunately the!insurance company! Will treat it as a fault claim until the third party admits liability. Hence, charged the excess. If you do your insurance through a broker they should be chasing this on your behalf.
