Because I'm using an iphone to type this, I can't directly reply, but to the guy angry at people for saying that this is better than the original... The reason why most people don't have a problem with that is that it's no contest as to who the greatest mind in the history of electronic music is imo; it's clearly Aphex Twin. To say that this is better than the original (which I think it is) doesn't really doesn't take anything away from Aphex Twin, because his catalogue of musical genius is so large that even without the track "on", it does nothing to change the status of Aphex Twin's ability as a creative mind. Calm down lol, it’s not crazy to suggest this is better than the original, and u-Ziq is criminally underrated, and he (just like all IDM artists) has always been in Aphex Twin's shadow, so just give this one to u-Ziq.
you can also see it like this: a remixer has all the time in the world to create the remix, but the original can never be re-created. I however don't think this is better than the original. It's different and for that I always enjoy music, but I prefer the original.
This was the tune that persuaded me to listen to non-guitar based music back in '93. It's simply awesome. Mike Paradinas - you did yourself proud with this mix, and at such a young age! Just wish someone could upload the full length version. If you're like me and love driving to this tune, how great does 2:47 onwards sound when the bass kicks in through the speakers?!?!
93 damn. I can't imagine that. I would be hooked on this stuff. I only am just getting into electronic music and this feels so fresh and better then most new stuff. It's pretty cool though to find this stuff now as I'm 30 and think all the best music was in the early to mid 90s. So this makes sense and is quite a refreshingly new yet nostalgic feeling.
I used to describe Aphex Twin aka Richard D James music as abstract...but it is a sweet abstract!lol Had the pleasure to be in one of his performances here in Lisbon and it was awesome!
Man, and I thought the original was a masterpeice, this absolutely took it to the highest level. can't believe this was 15 years ago! my god where does the time go. It goes to show how little progress has been made since the 90s. This track sounds like it was made today.
it all depends on how much listening you've practiced. i think this track sounds like the early 90's. and stuff made today can also sound like that. there is a huge amount of stuff that is 20 years ahead going on right now but most people haven't practiced listenting enough to hear the subtle details.
vageness95 - check out the following artists: Venetian Snares, Electric Kettle, Satanicpornocultshop, Autechre... I think you'll find something that you'll like. As for single songs similar in "taste" I'd recommend: -Aphex Twin - IZ-US -Satanicpornocultshop - Suicide empire -Venetian Snares - Hiszekeny -Venetian Snares - Peeying_yelloq -µ-ziq - Hasty boom alert -µ-ziq - Within a sound -µ-ziq - Swan vesta And a little personal fav of mine: -Atomly - Medianoche Cheers! ^^
@davisbloke yes sir. aphex "on" and muziq vs auteurs cd changed everything for me in the early 90's. It made me contemplate music structure and life in general.
Towards the end and sadly in the bit that's cut off here, u-ziq basically reinterpreted his own track "Balsa Lightning". As Shut Up & Dance once stated on an early record of theirs "rather than stealing other people's sounds, why not steal your own?". Quite.
@mudboy1973 brian eno and other ambient pioneers had been making similar stuff way before the 90s. not saying aphex twin didn't innovate, but i think his more ground-breaking stuff came out between 95 and 00.
Is this the full song? I ask this because it seems to end abruptly as if it were cut off/incomplete. I especially like the 'new direction' the song goes into around 5:40. All in all its awesome.
Aphex Twin and Eric do two very different style of music so it cant be compered. if you love music youll understand that both are very good in what they do
@grandmaos well,Mike Paradinas was always on the same shelf as Richard D. James,a different kind of engaging ambient-proto-industrial sound.Proud owner of all the vinyls
@Intelectual95 A7X is a very good band... for their genre. Aphex Twin is is a very good group... for their genre. I personally don't dislike music for their genre (although it just so happens that rap and RB is all predictable and all sounds the same.) I love electronica and techno but I'm also an A7X fan. :) I congratulate them for making REAL ORIGINAL music using traditional methods. I congratulate Various electronic artists for making REAL ORIGINAL music using unique methods! Music is music!!
no he does have a genre americans call it IDM and some people from the UK call it braindance,i call it braindance anyway lol awesome remix but no one can beat the man himself =]
Paradinas is one of my favorite electronic musicians, and he's always really looked at as just the generic version of Aphex Twin. Like Aphex Twin is Lucky Charms and Mike is the store brand version of Lucky Charms. But I like him maybe more than Aphex Twin. And I still can't figure out what makes him stand on such a lower level then his peers. I think people that listen to this very creative genre are just as closeminded as anyone else a lot of the time.
oh no! you called me out! wait, i think i can back my claim up... check out - ed banger records, planet-mu, rephlex, for stuff that, although "retrospective" in some ways, very "futuristic" in others, is big in europe but still catching on (maybe it wont) in america. looking back to my original meaning was that i imagine or assume that there is much music made that sits on a shelf for years before it's released, then when it is, it's "fresh" which points out it's "timelessness".
I felt 'off' when I saw someone responding to a blatant attempt for top comment getting top comment. Ironically it now means both of you are in the first 5 comments everyone sees. Good Job.
Haha, I haven't listened to the On remixes in like ten years; I forgot that they were actually kind of good. In some ways I prefer the u-ziq and Reload mixes to their source material even though they're arguably cheesy, if for no other reason than they go more places, and I'm not crazy about Rich's percussion in that period.
µ-ziq is the man his melody's are out of this world.
+Richard “Abraham” Brice melody is all aphex though?
Yeah tru

afx the boss, u-ziq a caporegime
also u-ziq is himself pretty god damn amazing and one of the few who has the right to remix an aphex song
2lowkey100 aphex is tops and probably my no 2 but I'm pretty sure a guy called gerald isn't from this planet
you can also see it like this: a remixer has all the time in the world to create the remix, but the original can never be re-created.
I however don't think this is better than the original. It's different and for that I always enjoy music, but I prefer the original.
who gives a fuck!! hahahaha
Aphex Twin + µ-ziq = Perfect
By far one of the most beautiful remixes of an Aphex Twin song ever. :)
Feel like taking care of someone's garden. God bless the music
Sounds like you would enjoy Mort Garsons "Plantasia"...
+++++

12 years later and we still jamming!!
This version makes me feel like there is a big future ahead of us; like everything will be made of machine, and the world will just be one big city.
Oh boy
93 damn. I can't imagine that. I would be hooked on this stuff. I only am just getting into electronic music and this feels so fresh and better then most new stuff.

You’re 40 now and it probably still sounds like that
a perfect remix of a perfect track, listening to this brings back great memories :)
I used to describe Aphex Twin aka Richard D James music as abstract...but it is a sweet abstract!lol Had the pleasure to be in one of his performances here in Lisbon and it was awesome!
and i absolutely love how the drums go tame at 5:36...gorgeous.

hi
things are worse now
Absolutely love both artists! A.T. & u-ziq are in a leauge of their own!
I can listen to this every day. One of the best remixes ever.

Oh my , the cold air coming from my subwoofer on my feet right now feels great
i loved this ,more than the original ,one of my favourite tunes of all time .just love the melody on this with the acidic breaks ,perfect .
How great is this....
Thanks so much for sharing - Aphex Twin is and will be milestoning the scene :)
Pure class!!
world class man :) magical sound

@davisbloke yes sir. aphex "on" and muziq vs auteurs cd changed everything for me in the early 90's. It made me contemplate music structure and life in general.
definatly better then on in my opinion, this song can do without the techno part. its better peaceful and ambient.
AARRRRRGGGG this be gooooder than a madahfahhhhkahhhhh
ARGHHH!! INDEED
So sweet, still after all these years.
What other timeless techno music is there?
@alexamada
It was mastered from cassette tape, it's exactly the same on the CD.
don't gamble with the king of electronic music !
Towards the end and sadly in the bit that's cut off here, u-ziq basically reinterpreted his own track "Balsa Lightning". As Shut Up & Dance once stated on an early record of theirs "rather than stealing other people's sounds, why not steal your own?". Quite.
the best Aphex remix i've ever heard, closely followed by alarm will sound
@Hazeon23 all of those that you named are brilliant!!
2024 still slaps
I like it better than the original, it has a distinct peacefulness to it.
Yeah, I prefer this version than the original one.
O my holy self, it's wonderful !
@HunterTomorrowX Same with any music. Some rap is pretty awesome. I like Mauver by Bola, its a decent example of rap mixed with downtempo.
Yeh, Mike had a lot on his hands remixing such an epic track but he pulls it off the Paradinas way
Too right!!!
perfection!
@mudboy1973
brian eno and other ambient pioneers had been making similar stuff way before the 90s. not saying aphex twin didn't innovate, but i think his more ground-breaking stuff came out between 95 and 00.

I love them both versions
Fuck yea, got the Vinyl set of this record and am playing it for first time tonight since opened!
µ-ziq is one of the best.... Lunatic Harness and In Pine Effect are fine examples of this
theres another remix on the otherside that kills this its in my attic must dig it out,
sorry, you guys are absolutely right. that was my mistake.
Great remix.
You win this discussion, just so you know.
that is amazing.

Always been my favorite part.

Wow... !
royal astronomy definitely holds its ground!

i saw him last week in cracov sacrum profanum this is god!
Real talk though?
I kind of never go back the original "on" since I found this
drill n bass. thats the genre for aphex
Which this isnt.
love this tune. put more tags on video for more views.
AWESOME !
thank you
whats up with that warping at the beginning of the track? my copy has the same issue, but i've heard this tune without it...
i got the logo tattooed on my arm. :D
@ochjoenge yes there is... it's called experimental.....
I felt 'off' when I saw someone responding to a blatant attempt for top comment getting top comment. Ironically it now means both of you are in the first 5 comments everyone sees. Good Job.
I like this remix. Different to the original "On".
@slappntickle i love you man

thank you~ :-)
thumbs upp for the original song and that unique remix!
Cool🥰
that's something to think about eh
@grandmaos it helps when u dont have to create the melody
I've never heard this !@#$-sucking version before. it's calm
@JackTron7000 clapton. someone commented but now seems to me that comment is deleted
I want this track on Spotify but can't find it :(
me too
I think the reload mix is better but then again i'm more of an ambient head.
commosed by Corbin Nally aka Skorn,On,and Xphea
commosed
@Obiwan198
Don't close your ears like that mate. (:
#chapi urueña is that in reference to all of his stuff or just this track?
6:40 YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
@DrWordsmith aphex twin - flim
is the available to download somewhere?
I can't find this anywhere...do you have an mp3?
@HunterTomorrowX No, my sister listens to those artists. I've never been interested in rap itself. Dunno why. :/
why are the last two minutes cut off?
