RDJ is like the Bach of electronic music. Amazingly technical yet full of emotion. Influential to basically everyone in the field. Will probably remain a high water mark for centuries.
The best thing about Richard is that you can be a fan for years and then run into a trak like this or one from the Tuss and be like "oh good god who is this" and then be like oh wait, it's just more RDJ RDJ 4 eva
You can copy every sound AFX can make, you can buy all of his equipment, you can install all of his software but nobody will ever have his musical power.

lost count of the number of 'this is my fav' or 'best in the analord series' or 'surely one of the best' comments. fact is poeple they're all so bloody brilliant it's just hard to comprehend another one of his songs being as good....until you hear another one, and another one.... one of the finest musicinas ever i reckon.
Its just the way the melodies are composed, how everything is so perfectly placed. It makes you think, correction, it makes you know that he envisions this rather than just writes it. its incredible. its genuinely incredible how everything is placed, every note, every pitch, every pan(or bubblepan for that matter) is just absolutely horrifically futuristic. jesus fuck tho
The reason I have an Aphex tattoo on my arm is to remind me of two things. One is that Aphex has inspired me to create my own music and two is because it's the most thought provoking music I've ever listened to. I know it's cliche, but his music changed my life, especially the Analord Compilations. I'd give anything to dance my brains out to this stuff live.
Just listened the first time this track. It was played on NTS radio show. I couldn’t see the artist, but after a couple of seconds i was sure it could only be Aphex. Shazam gave me the confirmation. But let’s be honest, who else can make a track like this. It could only be the one ❤
I think it would be a pretty boring one in the end. It's not a big rock star life, I think he's really mostly just in his head, and if he's not making music it's probably something simple like taking a nice walk. I don't think there is a big secret that a film or book could unravel. Even an interview book would be strange and still distant. Probably the same with Autechre and Squarepusher, they all seem like reclusive and private people who just go 100% for the music and listening to the music already brings us much closer to their minds than any book or film could.
Richard is known for his hatred of Interviews and his overall nature of keeping his own life private, so I doubt he would be interested something like that
If you have much money go buy some pilot speakers ,the cd line, its German quality and listen electronic music.they are worth every penny.i have the cd401 and i dont need a Subwoofer.a hidden gem
i love that part too, it feels like the melody in the background "fakes" its sound somehow, so the first few listens I actually got it wrong. This song is stuck in my head
When I'm at work in the shop for some reason I always have this or mydoom running through my head til it drives me nuts, but then I'm here again an hour before work listening to it. My brain hurts but I can't help it. Can you OD on AFX?
what in the world is this energy in his music? its pieces like cilonen fenix funk and vordhosbn that just let me suspend all dissbelief and wander into unknown brain territory, RICHARD D = James Yancey
Just ignore konjunktion, it's better for everyone. He's a composer, but he doesn't understand music, he just wants to be popular. A true victim of this age.
Well it is just sound. When you think about it. Failure to see more isn't a fault. I imagine alot of people think it's just noise, but even my three year old daughter loves certain aphex twin tracks and calls it music.
just when you think his train of thought was complete he'll add another sound that becomes necessary
well said sir
This is very well put
Wise words
So true man!
ur mum is necessary

his music is actually quite Baroque now that i think of it
Centuries indeed. Most likely a millennia.
How about forever?
And they both acted as consultants/experts helping craftsmen build their respective instruments (Organ for Bach and Synths for RDJ)

I´m always amazed at how full and layered his tracks are, yet it is never too full... that´s really difficult to achieve.
His talent is on a level that cant be put into words!
well put.
that what happens when you add the *right* sounds
it is an honor to have this song ruin my auditory system.
.....i just cant describe...this is why i love richards music
This track renders me utterly catatonic.
Definitely.
When that nervous arp comes in I just feel the rush he puts behind his music, the beats; ..compliment the mood to the note
this is a great song for learning to program sequencers
still can't get over how good this track is.
aphex is years ahead.when man and machine become one this is how pop music going to be
LISTEN TO THIS WHILE INTOXICATED
Something like almost 10 years later this is still my favorite Analord track. I used to walk to this all the time, maybe I will again.

jesus fuck tho
its controlled chaos, you would be foolish to think everything is exactly deliberately placed
You know,
If i didn't know him enough, I would totally agree with you.
Aphex Twin is literally future music. There is a good reason nobody even tries to remix his stuff, they can't deal with the complexity.
SimplyHaffar very true
Bubblepan?
ahhhh, I remember a 13 years old me just laying on the bed listening to this, then lisbon acid, pwsteal.ldpinch, where's your girlfriend and so on

the music is the thing
Always loved his AFX stuff cause of the synth programming. Always felt more raw and analog

Love this especially when that Synth builds up from 0.44 Awesome Track right there.
i wish the part at 1:07 could continue forever

For anyone confused, AFX is one of the many, many, many, many pseudonyms of Richard D. James commonly known as Aphex Twin.
