    In my opinion tho that necklace scene was a bit of a metaphor. It seemed like this was an attempt of compassion from the lifestream or someone in the lifestream. Sephiroth tries to walk over to this necklace representing a positive memory for him and Glenn, in his anger, stops sephiroth from receiving that kindness and kicks it away. To me that was Glenn's metaphorically rejecting any compassion or kindness to Sephiroth and severing their friendship

      My best thought so far is that it's maybe lucrecia trying to reach out to him?
      She's not dead but she's got some jenova stuff going on in her lil cave so maybe she tries to reach out to him via the lifestream.
      The lifestream trying to keep him stable and maybe even trying to remove Jenova works as well though!

      In some ways it’s a metaphor for him regaining his humanity. He lost the necklace originally after massacring the people of Rhadore, including children and people too old to fight. Now it got returned to him after he tried to spare Rosen. But Glenn in his anger rejected the humanity, including the ability to show compassion, we see Sephiroth develop during the course of the last few chapters.

    This happening was everyone's fear, we were all hoping someway somehow Rosen would have survived and became a refugee in Wutai and showed up in Part 3 seeking revenge. This was a really dark chapter to say the least and will have huge ramifications moving forward. Sephiroth just seems to be torn as all of this is happening.

    One thing that bothered me is why didn’t Sephiroth jump out of the helicopter when they were circling over Rosen’s position? Earlier we see him casually jump out of a chopper and land no problem but here it’s like yeah I’m just going to wait for the chopper to land so we stay in a group. I guess it shows that Sephiroth is just here to ensure Glenn, Matt and Lucia’s safety and it’s probably also an acknowledgment on his part that he’s completely out of his comfort zone trying to talk someone into joining them. At least he saved the dog.
    The pendant to me represents an important link to Sephiroth’s humanity, what with it having his mother’s picture in it. He originally loses it after massacring the Rhadoran people even though those were children and other non-combatants who were just evacuating to safety. Here we see, especially in Chapter 8, that he tried his best to save Rosen as well as Glenn and the others even though it would have been much easier on him to simply abandon them and go back. I think the necklace returning was symbolic of him regaining his humanity that he’d lost because of the values Hojo had raised him to have. Speaking of Hojo, I have a feeling Sephiroth is going to get some significant punishment for his insubordination. Glenn and the others can just walk away from SOLDIER and Shinra now that they’ve seen what it’s about, but Sephiroth can’t, he’s still a kid living under Hojo’s rule.

    There's something i don't get though: if they knew that by digging for the reactor by blewing up bombs would have triggered the mana torrent, why did they do it? Potentially losing a top site for mako energy (like it ended in fact)?

    The last week I've been hatching a theory. I just looked up Rhadore, and the time frame did not debunk it. If this is the end of a ten year campaign, could Genesis and Cissnei be of Rhadorian ancestry? They both have red hair. I didn't notice too many red heads in Remake or Rebirth, but I haven't gone back and checked yet. We don't know of the birth parents of either character, just that Genesis had Gillian's genes mapped on to him during birth, and that Cissnei was in an orphanage before being taken in by Shinra.

    • @TravaillesDuChanson
      @TravaillesDuChanson 4 месяца назад +2

      Now THAT is a VERY interesting theory perhaps Genesis and Cissnei are brother and sister and they are both Rhadoran... perhaps even Genesis knows the truth of what actually happened and that's the uknown part of the reason why he deserted Shinra.

      @@TravaillesDuChanson Glad to get you interested. I doubt that they are, but you never know. Often times relationship pairings can lead to serious plot holes or hurt certain developed characters, but at times they can work. If that were true for Cissnei and Genesis, it would probably be best if neither of them knew the connection. That's a fun mysterious thought!! I appreciate it! I'll be trying to work it out by crediting and discrediting it. So you got me thinking!

      @@ETHomerin cissnei's past is mysterious and who knows maybe they were rescued by some of the other PSO soldiers

    • @ETHomerin
      @ETHomerin 4 месяца назад

      @@TravaillesDuChanson for Cissnei, absolutely possible. Genesis, however, was very watched. We know Gillian's cells were grafted on to him at birth. Then we know that he was adopted by a wealthy man who lived next door to the man the Gillian married after trying to sever as many ties with Shinra as possible. It's true, we don't know the parentage of these two characters. And we also know that Cissnei keeps her real name quiet. If they were related, I'd say it's safe to say that their true last name isn't Rhapsodos, which was probably the last name of the wealthy landowner who adopted him. An adoption that Gillian might have had leverage to oversee, as there were probably contacts that had to be signed for Project G.
      There's a lot of subtle indications that Gillian was much more resistant to Shinra and Jenova's will than Lucrecia, who was already in despair during Sephiroth's conception. Gillian might have wanted to ensure that both Angeal and Genesis were protected and had close to normal upbringings and were close by each other, so they could relate experiences.
      Good parentage and bad, or tragic parentage is kind of a theme in this story.
      But while I can't say Cissnei and Genesis being raised together in their earliest years would work, a blood relation could. Also, factor in the position of power that Genesis was in during CC and his opinions of Shinra. Having a sister taken by Shinra would probably be something he'd have mentioned to Zack if he knew about it, because he had nothing to fear or hide during the late phases of his degradation. But the idea of a blood relation is cool. Confirming it in the story might be a different matter.
      Love your passion though. That's the fun in theories!

    Ngl the last chapter really made me dislike the squad, like they're fine with committing genocide but they know one kid and they're like "Oh no! We gotta save him!" Like that's good don't get me wrong but it's just very unrelatable lol
    I think my biggest reason for this is because the main party are eco terrorists who are actually actively rebelling against Shinra and these guys are just like "Hmmm I'm not cut out for this" they're moral cowards tbh
    Edit: ALSO, why in the hell did Glenn trust Sephiroth with helping him save the boy??? Like sephiroth mercilessly committed genocide and Glenn didn't think "Hmm maybe we shouldn't tell sephiroth we're gonna save the last rhadoran" This is 100% all Glenn's fault

      You'll need to see chapter 8 for this to make more sense and i won't spoil it for people here, but sephiroth has a flashback showing why he did it, and it's not Glenn's fault. They're in a very weird place of trying to make Sephiroth super good before he goes all evil later on.

      To be fair Glenn and his squad probably would have spared more of the Rhadoran people, it was Sephiroth who killed the non-combatants because that’s what he was ordered to do and he’s been raised his whole life to be Hojo’s idea of the perfect SOLDIER.
      That being said Sephiroth would have left Rosen alive if Rosen hadn’t begged him to kill him.

      @kittcoldfire >before he goes all evil later on
      It bears constant repeating even after the course of almost 30 years, but Sephiroth doesn't turn evil or crazy, he just gets subsumed/assimilated by Jenova. The "villain" of ff7 is and always was Jenova, which is a mimetic lifeform, like The Thing. In this sense, Sephiroth has always been a tragic character, because it's always been implied he was a decent, stand up guy until Jenova took hold of him and rewrote his personality/consciousness.
      Side note, it's still Sephiroths fault in this moment for doing it right in front of Glenn and the others, with the added bonus if not saying anything about it afterwards. Sephiroth isn't that socially uninformed,, even with his development these past few chapters

      Personally, I made sure to have Matt as my healer, Lucia as my physical dps with ice and air, and Glenn with magic with quake and fire.
      My Matt was used to keep everyone alive and apply magic defense. Fire and ice from Glenn and Lucia was used to kill the left arm (screen right) and quake and air was used on the left arm to kill it fast.
      As long as you kill both arms quickly and Matt keeps you alive, you’ll be able to beat the boss.
