In the Rebirth ultimania, the developers did say that Sephiroth wanted to "save the planet" in the remake trilogy. Perhaps the Sephiroth at the edge of creation is his true self, with no influence from Jenova, and he is truly trying to help? I doubt it, but it's not impossible. We could be on the verge of a Sephiroth redemption arc. As insane that is to think about.
What if future Sephiroth in the lifestream is fighting Jenova Sephiroth in order to create balance. And the 2 baby weapons we see are actually Omni Aerith and Omni Sephiroth trying to save the planet from Jenova this whole time? And by Jenova Sephiroth I mean og seph and the one who attacks one of the weapons while Tifa is with them.
@@TheKinety That's an interesting theory. With all of the clear foreshadowing of Aerith surviving this time around, imagine if Sephiroth's true self was the reason she was able to survive. I sort of think that Sephiroth is aware that Jenova is not his mother, but believes shes the key to “saving the Planet.” Because of his very skewed childhood, he doesn’t truly understand how the natural cycle of life and death keeps the Planet going, therefore he wants to “preserve it” through Jenova’s Reunion of the many “worlds” in the Lifestream. He truly believes this is the right thing to do and has to do so many calculated moves to achieve what he believes is right. What he is unaware of is that his version of “saving the Planet” is the same as keeping a sick old man alive through adrenaline shots instead of letting them pass away peacefully, he does not hear the Planet’s lifestream screech in horror and pain, therefore Aerith and the party are trying to stop him.
One thing to clarify, the necklace Glenn kicked contained the photo of Lucrecia. Sephiroth had lost it in chapter 6. Glenn basically destroyed Sephiroth’s only chance at finding his real mother in a fit of rage. It was a rough moment.
It's interesting to see it resurfacing from the lifestream almost as if Sephiroth was meant to have it...and should've. I do wonder how things would've been if he had that necklace with him.
Also, Dirge of Cerberus strongly hinted to Lucrecia being Cetra and even having some sort of cosmic connection. Should we get this revelation, it would play MAJORLY into what helps the pure Sephiroth, begin his mission to overcome and destroy Jenova for once and for all.
if there are multiple timelines going on in this retelling... then what if the Sephiroth at the Edge of Creation is essentially a good guy, trying to stop his other selves from enacting their plan(s)?
I have this theory that we're going to eventually be shown that the Sephiroth we've been fighting this entire time is all just Jenova and when we meet the actual Sephiroth they will not have the same goals.
It really makes him a lonley soul, of course makes me wonder that the several really crazy sephiroths we meet are the jenova corrupted sephiroths, while the one at the edge of creation is the part of him that is "him"

Sepiroth's body is overtaken by hate and jenova's cells controlling him. His conciousness still has good in him, his human side. The boss we fight in the end is just a shell, his body. His conciousness is gonna help cloud and try to guide him.

I think a lot of what they’ll reveal in Ever Crisis concerning him won’t be crucial to understanding what’s up with him. With seeing this video and the theories with Sephiroth at the Edge of Creation, as well as the theory of there being three Sephiroth, I'm beginning to think that maybe the main Sephiroth is experiencing all of time at once, and it's contributing to at least a good chunk of the mystery of this new story. Similar to other characters like Eren in Attack on Titan, Dr. Manhattan in Watchmen and more who experience time in different spans that aren't quite linear, I'd imagine it'd get confusing speaking with someone experiencing all of time at once, because they're going to speak in a way where an event hasn't happened for us, and at the same time has already happened for them and not happened yet. Since he was dispersed in the Lifestream at the end of the original VII but not broken down, he's had nothing but time to figure everything out and maybe calm down a bit. Also not a fan of trying to make Sephiroth a good guy after 20+ year status of main villain. Sigh... I'm just done.
There's no signs that they'll make Ever Crisis necessary to understand whatever Ever Crisis is currently conveying. But if they do, sure, I'll very much agree with you. Its already been canon since the 90s game that Sephiroth was considered a hero by regular Shinra folk and that he was decent to others. This was never purely a mask. He really was a 'good guy' - in the eyes of the fucked up FFVII setting at least. It was only in Nibelheim, with its revelations, and Jenova influence/awakening in him, that he violently snapped. He allowed it all by choice, but people make their choices under many influences, and he had extreme ones. This was already established decades ago.
So the whole time we were mislead to thinking he was a villain when it was Jenova all along and he was a puppet? I mean 20 years late for this reveal but ok.

I've seen nothing that 'redeems' him, only explains him. At every point he could have done better, been better, and he didn't, regardless of cosmic influences. Doesn't mean he wasn't very human for it.
Madness cannot be chosen...It happens,and it's not a fault,It's horrible,it's a Nightmare nobody deserves...it's a tragedy
I am fine with them showing us a tragic backstory but what would ruin it for me is if they make full on obito uchiha who suddenly turns good at the end, that would be very corny he is an amazing villain so keep him a villain
They ruining a chance to bring this story proper to a console FS return… this mobile is crap. Nobody is going to keep playing… we all are going to watch the cut scenes hence drop the shell of poo when we extract all the lore from the the poop
As interesting as all of this is, the fact it's tied off in the story of a gatcha game that's so grindy, even you an FF7 content creator couldn't be bothered to grind it out just makes me salty as to why bother having this story revelation at all? I know they're gonna add it into Remake part 3 but I hope they wouldn't for the sake of the majority of people that didn't Ever Crisis.
Jenova has been the villain, not Sephiroth. Sephiroth has been imprisoned due to Jenova's Will.
@@bigtatsu Nothing in the compilations or remake trilogy have even hinted at Jenova being the primary antagonist this whole time. Sephiroth at the end of creation didn't even hint or inform anyone that he's not their enemy. Didn't even say anything to Cloud other than join me and be cryptic. What are you talking about? Can you let me know where in Remake Trilogy or the compliation series they even hint at Jenova being the main influence for Sephiroth's will/behavior? I know the OG had some translations that more directly implicated Jenova's influence over Sephiroth but nothing I've seen or heard in FF7's later works or remake imply Jenova's autonomy.
@@HolyHadou Did you even play the original game? Jenova has always been the main villain. I've been playing this game since 97 I know what I'm talking about.
