Honestly, if I had to comment about the voice acting that actually fits a character in this game, it's definitely James's. I think it fits his character incredibly well.
*Mr. Zero:* "What is that insignia on your back?" *James:* "It's the same insignia you see on the front of my shirt! Just...a lot less blurry." For some reason I love how he has a full stop at the end of his name in his autograph.
Y’know what’s even crazier? Starfox and F-Zero are implied to take place in the same universe. Fox and Falco retire and become F-Zero racers in one ending in Command
Even in Star Fox, he would seem quiet and a bit timid. Neat that they added extra lore on him when he said he designed the logo. Could be an accomplished artist during his spare time when he is not working as a mercenary. Keep soaring, James!
I think that Nintendo likes to use words like Merc or Bounty Hunter because they think they are cool, but it does apply to Star Fox. Mercenary do jobs for someone for the sake of the money, not an ideal. It just usually involves crime related things, because you generally don't want someone that you have no actual jurisdiction over going into a war situation messing things up. But it is becoming more common these days for PMCs to be in war zones. For better or worse.

They are not, but a version of F-zero does exist in Fox's universe. In the universe (F-Zero) "Fox"(If that is his name) is a human child.
