Vin after literally after every Dream Theater song, "I'm not a fan of prog, but I love this one". 🤣
This was definitely one of Mike Portnoy (ex-drummer's) finest moments in Dream Theater... the album 'Systematic chaos' (2007) was a stellar comeback for DT after a long contract w/ Atlantic Records came to an end in 2005. Once they got a new contract w/ Roadrunner Records, this album outsold the prior album 'Octavarium', reaching the US top 20 charts. Goes to show that if u have the right label that can promote u properly, a great band can be successful... especially when a band like Dream Theater has such a hardcore fanbase.
John Petrucci (guitar) said the lyrics were "pure fantasy".
I got to see Dream Theater twice on this tour and saw them perform 'In the presence of my enemies' Pt. 1 & 2 performed together 🤘🤘🔥🔥Great time! 'The dark eternal night' ... 'Forsaken' ... & 'Constant motion' are incredible songs from this record.

This track is an excellent example of how to manipulate themes which is why it sounds cohesive even though it features frequent changes.
your description of prog in general is on point. that's why i listen to DT exclusively when it comes to prog. their music has a story and they always take you on a journey
Great band from Long Island NY. Sometimes I miss NY but then remember the taxes and politics. Glad I escaped NY when I did and my kids got to grow up in NC. GO CANES!!! Great solo in this song. Atlerbridge Black Bird still has the most feeling behind it. I remember seeing this band all the time at Sparks, Roxy, and OBI. Good times.
I’m from Latvia . You know where is this small country ? When I been younger, I listening only Megadeth and play guitar like this style . Now , when I older , me fascinated Dream Theatre

I dont know if you guys have ever done it or not but The Ministry of Lost Souls by Dream Theater is one you have to do as well. It is off of the same album and with the level of religious discussion you did on this one id love to hear what your reaction to that one is

They did. Vin was loving and visably rocking ot it until the middle instrumental section. He gave is a 6.3 because of the circus music section. Strangest review they have done so far. (I think part 2 is much better than part 1 too)

I think Mike Portnoy's finest writing was the Recovery Suite which should be listened to in all parts as one song, hard to ever say anything bad about DT
It's called the 12 Steps Suite and it technically begins with The Mirror and Lie.

Hey Vin and Sori. You have to check out The Alien by Dream Theater. They won best metal performance at the Grammies for this epic song. They beat out Deftones, Mastodon, and Gojira. You'll also love The newest epic from Dream Theater called A View From the Top of the World.
Dream Theater doesn't sound like Rush in the least and they are 10 times better than Rush ever thought about being.
The beginning almost sounds like a mashup of Steve Vai's "For the Love of God" and Comfortably Numb.
Part 2 completes this.

Simply put: when you take the greatest musicians in the world and hey guys make music without limits dream theater is what you get. Now vin, if you want emotional from dream theater, do hollow years live at budokan from dream theater. John Petrucci slays the hell outta it.
