He’s ‘recovery’ was down to the fact that, at that time, he had a rare, neuroendocrine tumour (NET) that grows slowly and is not always malignant. I’m so pleased that he had those extra years… what a talent 👍🎶🙏
That fucking harp playing.... holy shit. His changes are so quick from vocal to harp then back again and without losing a breath! I am officially in awe....
Playing live and flawless (not miming to playback). Tight, high energy amphetamine-fuelled proto punk rock - those concerts were the best I’ve ever seen.
looks like he was laying under a bedford truck on a lay by somewhere before getting to the gig..................... a original take no shit from nobody thats lee brilleaux..
Brings a tear to my eye. Reminds me of when I was a teenager. Always regret never having seen any of the great bands of the time live. Wilko Johnson, Lee Brilleaux, Ian Dury, all the others, sadly missed.
This is one live gig that I would have loved to be there. Most of the numbers that night are on RUclips. Exceptional live performance by all ... sad so many key members no longer with us. Back in the days when BBC Radio and TV output was much better, I listened to John Peel's monotonous scouse accent low profile delivery as he introduced "new" bands and up coming talent. One such was Dr. Feelgood who I and no doubt many others had never heard of. Every now and then an exceptional talent, band or group comes along. Dr, Feelgood one such. Had tapes and CDs in my cars ever since. My favourite number, ""Back in the Night delivered live at this event too. Its on RUclips. Check it out. The band and especially front man Lee at his vibrant, intensive best ... Good slide Gitter action too y'all. Makes ya feel good all over.
Despite offstage excesses these guys are tight and professional performers. The vast majority of acts today if put live in a small venue without all the tech couldn’t hold a candle to this.
I was in bands for 30 years in tight venues where the acoustics and sound systems were awful. When I see these guys and find out more about how they began and where they played, I’m in awe and gobsmacked. Energy, energy, leaving nothing on stage. RIP Lee and Wilko 🎸
there is something more than being amazed when Lee hits the first harp solo something beyond comprehension, makes me listen to it over and over again!!
Lee was very memorable, charismatic definitely. His, it seems to me, anger in his attitude and harmonica playing is a thing I've never seen before or since, and it's a thing of beauty. It pains me when these people leave us way to soon. Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Kobain, Jim Morrison.. make your own list. Their legacy is immense, but we'll never ever know what they could have achieved had they survived.
Lemmy Kilmister apparently commented about this band , back in the 70's..... "Three alcoholics and a speed freak...... what could possibly go WRONG!!??" ;-)
In what sense were they underrated? They were and still are hero-worshipped, sold millions of records, toured the world, spawned a dozen cover bands, and more. You might underrate them, but the rest of us just think they were bloody good.
I've loved these guys since being one of the perhaps 5-6 Americans who purchased "Down By the Jetty" as an import back in 1975! Gawd bless Wilko Johnson!
'Real guitar work' - exactly. Not masturbating on 6 strings. Just musicians having fun and giving you songs and grooves worth hearing. I can play and sing this pretty well now. Time to get a REAL band together - just for the fun of it...
Saw them at Reading Festival 1975 ,still the best live act I’ve ever seen….saw Wilco when he joined the Blockheads …Sydney 1981 …one of tightest bands around
Prescription: start every weekend with this track, as many doses as you can handle every Friday night beginning at 6pm.......if the harmonica at 3:00 doesn't give you a rise, check pulse immediately
#RIP Lee and Wilko. Never saw them unfortunately (well not this classic version of them), but remember buying that live album at the age of 15 and just being dumbstruck.
I wanna live the way I like Sleep all the morning Goin' get my fun at night Things ain't like that here Workin' just to keep my payments clear I bought a brand new motor And I'm waitin' for a loan So I can fill her up and start her Then I'm going back home I got a girl a man's best friend I'd have her now if she'd just come back again But she left me in the fog Told me that I treat her like a dog The last time that I saw her she was buryin' a bone I'm tired of whistlin' for her Then I'm going back home Old Johnny Green he asked me in We watched his TV and we drank a little gin Then I float on down the street Smilin' at the faces that I meet That was back this morning Now I'm dizzy sick and stoned When the world stops turning Then I'm going back home
Holy crap. This is pure rock 'n' roll. Drums, bass, guitar, singer - that's it. 🔥
I saw Wilko on his farewell tour 10 years ago - then he had a miraculous recovery! What a dude. RIP
He’s ‘recovery’ was down to the fact that, at that time, he had a rare, neuroendocrine tumour (NET) that grows slowly and is not always malignant. I’m so pleased that he had those extra years… what a talent 👍🎶🙏
Wilco isn't dead, he's just Going Back Home......
He was a class act who influenced generations of guitarists, that's the best tribute of all.
He ain't dead, he's just asleep...( Bob Dylan)
The last truly great, home-grown, hard rocking blues band. RIP
The harmonica playing by Lee is top notch.
damn right.
he also played some nice slide guitar.
@@TheVatonaught Total badass on slide... a rock and roller to his bones!
That fucking harp playing.... holy shit. His changes are so quick from vocal to harp then back again and without losing a breath! I am officially in awe....
ONLY THE ENGLISH !!!! a Fellow Limey 😁OLD Rocker g
Rest easy Wilko.... never forgotten. A real rock and roll rebel...
Better than the Stones,
Status Quo, Dire Straights..
Underrated, great, honest musicians, will be playing them at my funeral..
Not better than Dire Straights, you only remember there commercial stuff .
Rien à voir.
Les trois sont bons.
Nou nou😮
Man... Brilleaux was an awesome harmonica player. Intense playing. Great!
I still listen my vinyls of these guys.. Great band, authentic, raw sound.. Old bands becomes every day greater
.. R.I.P Wilko
And Lee😢
Klasse Band

Playing live and flawless (not miming to playback). Tight, high energy amphetamine-fuelled proto punk rock - those concerts were the best I’ve ever seen.
That harmonica break makes you realise you're alive.
These guys were honest... Lee Brilleaux looks like he changed the oil in his car before walking on stage. What a great band!!!
Too right - I have always copied the scruffy style - brilliant music!
He often had changed the oil!
Well, they were from Oil City, after all!! ;-)
@@roborland GREAT comment!!! Love it!
looks like he was laying under a bedford truck on a lay by somewhere before getting to the gig..................... a original take no shit from nobody thats lee brilleaux..
RIP Wilko, his guitar playing was legendary, and of course the harmonica playing first class as well.
RIP Wilko Johnson, a great entertainer.
Great band with the best harmonica player I saw live on stage. Brilliant! 🎶🎼🎵
R.I.P Wilco Johnson 12th July 1947 - 21st November 2022. Now reunited with Lee in the great rock’n’roll band in the heavens!
I can't pass a video of Lee.. One of the best Rock/blues singers ever RIP lee

Fare thee well, Wilko. This is pure rhythm & blues.

So true
I was in bands for 30 years in tight venues where the acoustics and sound systems were awful. When I see these guys and find out more about how they began and where they played, I’m in awe and gobsmacked. Energy, energy, leaving nothing on stage. RIP Lee and Wilko 🎸
Best live band ever. Without a doubt.
To bloody right, unbelievable energy
The Who first and foremost but Feelgood were also the real deal live.
That’s quite a statement, but I respect your taste brother.
Never saw them live. But they were.
Excellent! RIP Brilleaux.
RIP Wilko, simply brilliant and underrated guitar great
Wilco wasn't underrated, he was highly admired by many musicians. No Andy Gill, Will Sergeant, or Johnny Marr without him.
FANTASTIC BAND.... FANTASTIC MUSIC....... FANTASTIC TALENT..... FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!
The best track on you tube? I'm not sure, but it's in the top three!
RIP Wilko. A true great, and essential ingredient in the mighty Feelgood.
Is wilco really dead this time?? Heard of his farewell tour, then he recovered 🤣🤣. Amazing band.
Privileged to have seen them so many times. Rest in peace Wilko. Let’s hope you and Lee have patched things up and jamming on the other side!!
Will I meet my cat in heaven too ? I suspect it was a catholic...

What a frontman Lee Brilleaux was.....Legend.
and what a great harmonica player as well
Yes up there with Phil Lynott

Yes, he was good, a sad loss.
Utterly unique, and a down to earth guy . Special
For me is one of the best rock songs of all time.
Truly a band that had it all. They richly deserve their legendary status.
First band I ever heard live in 1975 and I still listen to them all the time 40 years later.
what a band seen them afew times best memories the De Montford Hall Leicester!
Good old Blues Rock, booze, sweat and tears !
Proper rock n roll band.Never gets old.👍👍

Welcome to a magical time where bands could actually play their instruments, oh and sing without auto-cue. Tight, talented and totally awesome :)
so so so true
Toight as toighers
It is true.
Excellent though this doubtless is, it's not actually live audio. It's the studio version dubbed onto some live footage...
No X factor when this was happening!
Underrated band wilko Johnson is an absolute beast on the guitar
Songwriter too.
Underrated said no one about dr feelgood
In what sense were they underrated?

There will never be another Wilko. Gonna miss you guy.
BEST GROUP OF THE WORLD SADLY WE MISS WILKO AND LEE MAY THEY REST IN PEACE!!!
one of the greatest bands , so real
This is where punk came from. A superb live band that never got the success they deserved.
Seen Dr Feelgoood back in 87 in Auckland NZ, even the bottles were dancing on the tables, a night to remember..
RIP. Wilko. Thanks for the music.

CRIMINALLY UNDERATED .
The best band I, ve seen! Incredible! It was in Zaragoza Spain, in 1984
That is a magically intense performance.
Saw them with Hawkwind at The Glasgow Apollo in 1974.Awesome days.
I must say that I love the Britain of these years !!
Christ, I had to turn 52 before discovering this band..... Brilliant!!
Don’t feel bad. I’m 72 and thought I knew it all. Turns out I was wrong. Now I’m obsessed with these guys.

Absolutely brilliant so intense it makes you feel alive what did Lee Brilleaux say "3 pissheads and a speed freak" happy happy days.
Dr Feelgood > one of my favorite when i was young.
Lee and Wilko...sure wish they had made a way together... their mutual intensity is unmatched.
Fabulous. !! What a sorrow that these times seem to have left us now !!!!
Rock verdadero
This for me is the best version of Dr Feelgood by far, first seen them on tea time music show 45 hosted by Kid Jensen my favourite band of all time.
I saw these at Newcastle City Hall in 1974 and I been a fan ever since, when lee died the band died what a shame
Yeah went to go see them in Newcastle about 10 years ago and they weren't as good as this. Still a good watch though.
Simply Stated:
"Rock n' Roll PERFECT"!!🎸🔥
Uncompromising rock n roll. Amazing!
My very very favorite band of all time !!
Simply wonderful. On what other planet could you experience this human brilliance?
RIP Wilko :( gone back home for good now.

What took you so long mate...

And that my friends, is rock & roll.
it's always fun to find quality rocknroll i never knew about.
I wanna live the way I like
Sleep all the morning
Goin' get my fun at night
Things ain't like that here
Workin' just to keep my payments clear
I bought a brand new motor
And I'm waitin' for a loan
So I can fill her up and start her
Then I'm going back home
I got a girl a man's best friend
I'd have her now if she'd just come back again
But she left me in the fog
Told me that I treat her like a dog
The last time that I saw her she was buryin' a bone
I'm tired of whistlin' for her
Then I'm going back home
Old Johnny Green he asked me in
We watched his TV and we drank a little gin
Then I float on down the street
Smilin' at the faces that I meet
That was back this morning
Now I'm dizzy sick and stoned
When the world stops turning
Then I'm going back home
OH SO BANG ON TRUE HARD ROUGH DAYS I WAS THERE 😈😂👍g
I watched these as a bottle boy at the old oyster fleet just brilliant I got sod all done sitting there just watching great times.
Rest in peace wilko 🙏
The very best of Essex❤
The best thing to come out of Canvey Island ever !
This is brilliant. What a tight band. Watch Oil City Confidential. It's a must see.
Flawless performance.
How did I miss these guys back in the day! so much drive and attack, Rock n Roll!
I have just recently brought dr feelgood album and they are all brilliant
Feelgood kick the shit out of today's insipid nothing bands. The 70's and 80's were great days......
Absolutely, it’s the organic rawness that the digital world simply cannot emulate.. I play guitar and will only use the old school gear.
