- HD rip. Lyrics below.
I saw you out the other night
I saw somebody hold you tight
Roxette, I wonder who it could be
It was so dark I couldn't see
But I know it wasn't me
When I tell you it ain't right
I know you've got to agree
I followed you into a show
The band was playing rock'n'roll
Roxette, I didn't need to seek you out
The music played so loud
That I could hear you through the crowd
You was telling everyone
About a new guy you'd found
Roxette I gotta go away
And leave you for a couple of days
Roxette, I don't want no more of your tricks
I'm gonna get some concrete mix
And fill your back door up with bricks
And you better be there waiting
When I get my business fixed
What about Lee? A majestic presence.
Can't believe that the inimitable Wilko Johnson is no longer with us. Privileged to have seen him play.
I’m on holiday in Egypt, just read the news,so sad.😢. Had to go to this song .rip
Oh no This is the first I've heard! Top geezer how very sad. RIP Wilko
I was lucky enough to see him in all three incarnations- with Dr Feelgood, with the Solid Senders, and with his own Wilko Johnson outfit. The Feelgood’s gig remains, forty-seven years later, the best live act I have EVER seen.
Loved the Feelgoods, one of my favourite bands, saw Wilko a few years ago supporting the Stranglers, RIP wilko😢
I know Sweet F.A about this band, but it wld appear they certainly created their very own individual Style!
Old Grey Whistle Test on the BBC was the best music programme ever. RIP Wilco.
Saw these on a small venue in Liverpool in the eighties, no Wilkins and Lee was about eighteen stone, they did a good set but for me Wilko’s guitar is what made them special. Lee died not long after I saw them (or so it seemed)
As close to being down and out as you can get wearing a suit - that's real blues. One of the best bands ever to have graced the British rock scene.
Well said. I saw them loads in the seventies on of the best live bands ever. And we saw all th e top bands included zeppelin sabbath purple floyd etc
Probably the only band where grotty egg stains where part of their stage dress. 🤣
RIP Wilko. There are some guitarists who are instantly recognisable by their playing style. Wilko is one of them. Damn the rock band is growing upstairs.
I was expecting the Swedish pop duo covering the Motley Crue hit. I've never been more delighted to be incorrect.
One of most criminally unrated bands of all time.
t inquiète y'en a qui savent
RIP Wilko...thanks for the memories.
Sad that we lost such a huge component in the history of the guitar as an instrument. He pushed boundaries with his unorthodox approach. I met Wilko once, he was incredibly nice. Gave me a firm handshake and wished me luck with my guitar playing career. Didn't have to do that to some random nobody. He was deservedly proud of how many shows he did. He said he'd been playing something like 380 shows a year. That he'd often play 2-3 shows in a day if he could. Even after everything he'd been through, he was still inspired, keen, dedicated and excited about music and performing. It's something I often think about when I'm struggling with inspiration. Anyway, the man had no ego, no celebrity attitude, he wasn't surrounded by bodyguards, Just a genuinely friendly dude who loved playing guitar.. He'll be greatly missed. 🙏✌️
Nice comment man.
@@guickdotto4552 @Guick Dotto Just the truth. 😊 Met the odd celebrity at gigs here and there. Not all of them add up to what you think they will. But Wilko was classy. My friend was a much bigger fan than me at the time, we went to see him in Bristol. Fairly small club. Wasn't anyone else back stage. We chatted probably around 45 minutes. Norman watt-Roy wandered in at one point, that's when wilko said 'Hey Norm, these guys are musicians too, tell them how many shows we did last year!' to which Norman corroborated a number around 380. They were just genuine decent guys. Treated us like old friends even though we'd never met. I guess you get some kinship among musicians. But I've brushed by plenty celebs who wouldn't give you the time of day! I imagine plenty stories will start coming out now he's sadly passed.. Don't doubt that my story is not that unique. ✌️
Absolutely beautiful tribute to a LEGEND
That's great 👍
One of my favourite performances from Wilko, who sadly died today. He looks so fucking cool here. An innovative, engaging and inventive guitarist. Thanks for being Wilko, Wilko!
Pure canvey Island 👍
Inventive innovative??? Oh please....
@@nathandodge665 stick to reading tab
@@markjames3027 he was basically nothing
@@nathandodge665 Unlike you. Who are you?
RIP Wilko and Lee. Thanks for some great memories.
While it's easy to focus on the dynamics of Wilko & Lee, that rhythm section of Big Figure & John B Sparks takes some beating
The perfect R&B band
RIP Wilko. One of my favourite Feelgood tunes.
I first heard Gang of Four when I was 16 or so and thought nobody had ever played guitar like that, and then I saw this clip... Wilko was so ahead of his time, an amazing player. RIP
Check out Mick Green of Johnny Kidd and the pirates.
It's Mick's playing Wilko tried to imitate but couldn't so he developed his own style.
Andy Gill was a big fan of Wilco.
Saw them many a night in the Kensington Pub off Holland Park Road when they had the Rock Pub scene in London. Best days of my life. Just moved to London and you could jump on a bus or tube to anywhere in London and catch a band live in a pub everywhere. They were always full of people having a great time. Hot and sweaty, struggling to get a beer at the bar, just buy two, thats the way it wasl Clancy, Bees make Honey, sorry my memory fails me, there were dozens more. Bigger bands were at the Marqee club in Wardour Street.
You don't need a Rhythm section when the Lead can play both at the same time, what a great musician Wilco was, indeed best live band ever, down.and dirty.
R.i.p Lee.and Wilco.
This can only be described as a superb, completely mesmerising performance.
I agree, its legendary
Absolutely 👍
100%. Britain really did have talent!
Don’t forget french are the best at sex 😊
Copying someone else's comment but "The Sweeney with guitars"
I watched a video where Wilkins showed his guitar technique, and said it was really simple. Ha! His playing was unique, and brilliant. He was an influence on so many after him, but there have not been any like him. RIP Johnny.
that the one he did in the book shop ?
American blues but with a definite Essex edge. Thanks Wilco you were a one off and a legend. Buy Lee a pint from me when you see him.
I was lucky enough to see the original line up in their pomp in the mid 70's. Absolutely spellbinding. So intense and you couldn't take your eyes off Lee and Wilko
I only found out how good this band was very late on in life. Would have loved to have seen the original lineup but did get to see the brilliant Wilko earlier this year. I was treated to a storming set by the great man, accompanied by the fantastic Norman Watt-Roy. So glad I got to see the legend before his sad passing. RIP Wilko.
We used to watch all the big bands in the seventies. But feelgood were one of the best live bands ever. Saw them loads.
I remember watching this back in the day. Awesome band
Sadly our Heroes are leaving us....was lucky to see Wilko several times..including with The Hamsters with John Otway on tour.....!!.....Wilko always gave it everything on stage...!!....Thought he'd go on forever..!!... At least we've got the music and clips like this......read his book for lots on the Feelgoods...Best wishes from Plymouth UK..!!
One of my all time favourite old grey whistle test clips,
Lee Brilleaux brilliant singer and harmonica player, tragically died early at 41
Wilko this song sums up how great a guitar player you was....rest in peace if heaven has a band it just got a great person and musician to join it.
I'd be happy if the camera was locked off on Wilco; I'd watch him going backwards and forwards for a good while.
I would as well. He's completely hypnotic.
Absolute classic. RIP Wilko ,.
Yes I mind we all seen him int pub Edinburgh downt Victoria Street ! Good gig he even chatted
one of the best songs ever performed live
1st saw them in 1978 unbelievable live band RIP Wilko
Great, great band so underestimated Wilko Johnson was a star on that Telecaster and will be sadly missed and the lead singer was a great harmonica player to class act R.I.P. WILKO AND THANK YOU MY FRIEND.
RIP Wilko...class! from a fellow Southender.
Lee always looked like he was ready to take his coat off and have a scrap😃
What memories..cracking sound, great band.
This has got EVERYTHING going on. Just fantastic.
Without a doubt the best piece of live music ever
Wow Lee was fantastic
R.i.p wilko, one of the most underated guitar players
I remember seeing this when OGWT was first broadcast. Absolutely fabulous then as it remains to this day and it was great to see Wilko's gig in Birmingham in February this year when he was still on top form....🤗🤗
I remember my older cousin letting me stay up late, to watch the OGWT. It was a revelation, so much better than Top Of The Pops. I saw Wilko, not sure, about 4 or 5 years ago. He was on top form, and a funny guy that was able to keep the audience engaged. At one point, he was tuning his guitar by ear ... he stops and say "Ach, it's close enough for Rock and Roll." ... which made me laugh, and showed he still had the pub rock ethos. :)
@@fishypaw Spot on there...yes, very 'ordinary' bloke without any 'airs and graces'...loved him....🤗🤗
RIP Wilko, you, as we can see here, we're one of a kind.
Wilko Johnson is a living legend, just read his book 'Looking back at me'. Fucking hilarious especially the tale about him falling off his bike after visiting the all night garage.
I had the pleasure of seeing them live at the Glasgow Apollo and they blew me away. Top band !
The Glasgow Apollo was a great venue. Must have been a good 'un
@@fishypaw I saw many of the great bands of the 70s and early 80s there and I have many great memories of that period. Particularly seeing the original AC-DC and The Clash. The place was bouncing and packed.
If I remember right, Jonathan Richmond and his band were the support band. Lee wore a white suit jacket festooned with cartoon characters. Never had a bad night at the Apollo, mental but wonderful Happy days.🥳
Saw them many, many times in the 70s 80s. Quality.
Sad news, Rest In Peace Wilko, you are an absolute legend.
Seen them supporting Motorhead at the Apollo 1976 fkn blew my head aff . Wilko a fkn guitar gawd
another great track! Being a mid 40's gen X'er I have always held the view that this era of musician was kind of proto punk, not sure if anyone agrees and by the time grunge/alternative rolled around in the late 1980s I was like haven't we seen this before?
I watched this as originally broadcast.
Wilco made quite an impression, with his unorthodox style… RIP.
My friends and myself have seen this band so many times and with all their personality changes . They were never dissspointing .
I will never forget Wilko playing the poly of Wales, a mesmerising performance, he had everything.
Just heard the news 😥😥😥. RIP Wilko. So glad I got see him play.
A unique combination of players. Never surpassed.
these guys have always been the ultimate ,, then now and always ,,sorry we lost E VWilko xx
Lee was soooo fab, I recently lost my friend who was very nearly as good as him playing the mouth organ, but not quite. Dr Feelgood original, totally one off. We used to go see them in Camden 1970/80s Never forget them.
Many iconic moments on the Whistle Test, This is one of them.
Wilko, will miss you because you where so much part of my youth, Rip
Saw these guys in London 1981. They gave away beers from the stage.
Art, truth, expression and delivery ... I'd say yes.
Awesome blues-harp!
R.I.P. Wilko mate, say hi, to Lee!👍
the whole band were brilliant together
RIP WILKO. Your now with your friend LEE RIP in Rock Heaven.
What a brilliant band, brilliant singer and guitar 🎸 player Wilko Johnson
This is the first time I watch and listen to this group. I live in Honduras. If only I had known them. I loved the harmonic and the guitarrist Wilko.
Saw him and Dr Feelgood many moons ago in Dublin great band!
I have played the guitar for over 30 years. There's a video online of Wilko Johnson explaining how he plays the guitar. I have watched it several times and I still don't know how he does it.
I've done more or less the same and get what you are saying. The "Wilko chop" looks easy, but he does it in such a particular way that it is hard to get. It's definitely a big part of what made the band sound unique.
@@fishypaw Totally. A unique guitarist.
Wilko's black & yellow shirt is nice. I want the same
Oh no, Wilkos gone. Only found out now. Rest in peace Wilko ! ...he left his mark 4 ever.
Absolutely love this group. And the guitar player he is a showman
See ya Wilko. You left quite a mark here. Hope you`re tearing it up there as well buddy
No one plays guitar like wilco..! Simple as..! RIP.
A FANTASTIC band - raw & driving: thanks to all band members for such mesmerising sets. Love & Misses JaneRxx
Lee Brilleaux's intensity was mesmerising.
R.I.P WILKO! FAB musician, unique guitarist!
Great band and perfect song
Never really liked this group but oh my goodness THIS SONG IS BRILLIANT. The guitar riff is just so addictive.
and 'She does it right'..
I was only the 500th to like this. Get a grip people! RiP Lee and Wilko.
Perhaps the coolest front man ever
OGWT was so important in the 70s and we all seemed to watch it. But today the absence of depth of musical talent would make such a seminal programme sadly impossible …
Will Johnsons guitar sound and style was as distinctive as Hendrix. Totally different, but you know when its Wilko, just as you know when its Jimi.
Rest In Peace Wilko 😔
This is the proper feel good line up
RIP Wilko
stunningly good. RIP Wilko
R.I.P. Wilko
Brilleaux is 23 years old here!
This was one excellent band

They don’t do it like this anymore 👍
Good to see somebody's still listening to this 👌
R and B it's best and never bettered
RIP Wilko…
I love this! So unfussy and tight and mean, like a well-oiled machine.
Loved this show😊
How can you not love this, amazing :)
To cool to be main stream, one of the best bands from these shores..Fuckin Raw..!!!God Bless Wilko..
Ive only just heard. Thank you for the music, John
Timeless, thanks Monsieur Wilko
