- If you want to see my original recipe for Quinoa + Chia Bread, tune into this instructional video from Kamalaya Health Spa to see how to make it. I promise it's the most delicious Gluten Free Bread you'll ever make. the recipe can be found here: bit.ly/1JSDRvy
QUINOA CHIA BREAD: INGREDIENTS (1 LOAF / 10 SLICES):
300 g (10 ½ oz / 1 3/4 cups) whole uncooked quinoa seed
60 g (2 fl oz / ¼ cup) whole chia seed
250 ml / 1 cup water (use half to soak chia seeds and the other half to combine in the food processor)
60 ml (2 fl oz / ¼ cup) olive oil
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon sea salt
juice from ½ lemon
METHOD:
Soak quinoa in plenty of cold water overnight in the fridge.
Soak chia seed in ½ cup water until gel like - this can be done overnight as well, but just give it a few stirs at the beginning.
Preheat oven to 160 C / 320 F - fan forced oven.
Drain the quinoa and rinse really well through a sieve. Make sure the water is fully drained from your sieve.
Place the quinoa into a food processor.
Add chia gel, ½ cup of water, olive oil, baking soda, sea salt and lemon juice.
Mix in a food processor for 3 minutes. The bread mix should resemble a batter consistency with some whole quinoa still left in the mix.
Spoon into a loaf tin lined with baking paper on all sides and the base.
Bake for 1 ½ hours until firm to touch and bounces back when pressed with your fingers. Mine took 1 ½ hours (oven temperatures can vary slightly) but the bread needs the time to cook and for the quinoa to become tender.
Remove from the oven and cool for 30 minutes in the tin… then remove from the tin and cool completely on a rack. The bread should be slightly moist in the middle and crisp on the outside. Cool completely before eating.
Serve delicate slices only when cold with a serrated knife. Delicious lightly toasted on a pan.
Thank you!
Thanks for the recipe. It's my day off today from work, so I am going to make this bread recipe and invite some of my work colleagues for afternoon tea.
Thank you v much
Sc120o Does anyone know how much carbs and calories, are in this bread?
Thank You!!
Hi I made 2 days ago and I use coconut oil come out so good every one at my work like it ,so I go and buy more quinoa the try color and will try that .Thank you for introduction of this bread very nice .
You used coconut oil instead of olive?
Marko Marosevic Yes the chef said we could use it
I'm culinarily challenged and even I could make this right the first time. It's really nourishing, packed with protein, and very tasty. We just had some vegan butter on it. Many spreads would work well with this.
I used Pumpkin, Sunflower, Caraway and black Cumin seeds on top.
300g quinoa
60g chia seeds
half a cup of water
1/4 of a cup of Olive oil
salt
half a cup water
lemon juices
baking soda

Thaaaaank you :) you saved me time
Thank you sweetheart
Thank you 😊
Thank you!!
I LOVE this recipe. I make the ultimate simple vegan pita bread for different kinds of meals with equal parts soaked quinoa and water. The times and temperature and oven proof vehicle are crucial. Think of a pizza; round thing plus parchment paper so things wonèt stick. The quinoa mixture can incorporate any flavoring one wants. Pre-heated oven 425 Fahrenheit; 15 minutes, flip (dead simple); 10 to 12 minutes on other side. Load with hummus or avocado or dip in dense brilliant autumn soups .. etc etc tx Yul Brenner showing my age. Tx again for great recipe!!!!!!!!
Thank you soooooo much darling for this amazing recipe . I’m vegan and sometimes I don’t know what to eat but you just gave me very nice ideas ! Very well explained and clear easy . Thanks a lot . God bless you xoxo
I doubled the recipe for the weekend. My family went crazy and there's not much left over. Guess I'll have to make more

Thank you so much for posting the quinoa and chia seeds bread. After I watched your recipe, I do it every week because I eat gluten free bread. I will really appreciate if you post a recipe about how to make cake out of almond flour that is gluten free, vegan and sugar free (using fruits or stevia sugar).
The Healthy Chef App has all the recipes you need that are sugar free, gluten free and plant based. thehealthychef.com/pages/app
Okay then. There's a app?

How much baking soda?
Barbara Demers 1/2 teaspoon (t) baking soda (bs) is mentioned here in the instructions
I tried this recipe and turned out okay the next time will be better thank you
I'm very excited that I found your channel there's so many recipes that I would like to try. I prepared the quinoa yesterday followed the instructions -since I'm trying to stay away from oil I replaced the 60 mL of oil with half apple paste and half a almond butter. I also don't have a fan forced oven. It did look great as it was coming from the oven BUT after cooling when slicing it with a knife w- The knife as sticky so the inside of the bread wasn't fully dry. I don't know if it's the replacement of the oil or the no oven fan. Any advice ? BTY the link to the recipe is very helpful there's a small typo in that recipe it says 180° while both in the here video and the description it says 160 which I guess that's the correct temperature, so it would be worthwhile to fix the recipe in the link thanks again
looks beautiful!! I might add oat meal and other meals if I get hold of them, as well as a handful of psyllium husk
This looks so good. I wonder if I can make this successfully without a food processor.
I would love to now too, i also dont have a food processor.
I look forward to making it.
Question please Why can't we use a blender? Thank you
Wow looks delicious 🤤 I will try it thank you for sharing ❤️

Just made this recipe for the first time and the bread is really good and very easy to make. thank you!! Does it need to go in the fridge after baking or it can stay outside for few days?
best to keep in the fridge, it will keep for 1 week. You can also slice it and freeze into portions. T:) xx
This bread is fantastic. Yummy the second day with P&J. Thank you it will become a staple in my home. Canada

How much of eah did you use? Thx!
Cool will make it for sure, thank you
This looks amazing! Just wondering if the oil can be substituted with anything that’s not oil based.
Such a pleasant background music.
The first time I made this it was WONDERFUL!!! The next 2 times it was hard on the outside and gooy/raw on the inside. I'm hoping the 4th time will turn out!
O my goodness, this looks sooo delicious! Thank you for this lovely recipe.
That is a good idea. I'll have to try it.
Awesome! Can’t wait to try it!
Let us know how it turned out! I nailed it the first time and couldn't get it right after that.
Thanks for the receipe and suggested uses. Mightn't a rubber spatula be ... less violent?
Sound is never violent. It is sound. It is natural.
Totally agree, she's pretty agressive with that food 🤪 a bit off-putting. You gotta have respect for the ingredients 😉. Otherwise Great receipe base. I adapted with a tiny bit of buckwheat flour some water, and yeast. 😋 - I don't like bread to be too dense.
Hahahahaha
I loved the recipe thanks for sharing
Quick and easy: thanks for sharing.
Looks and sounds great...will try with grated zucchini. Thank you for the tutorial!
Good idea !
Hi! This is so lovely. How can i replace this with Sourdough ? would all the bakers percent remain same?
Great! I am going to mak it. love the idea of bread without flour :) I usualy make buckwheat bread and willing to expend my abilitys (sorry for wrong spelling) thx
It's alright love
Wow thank u for the recipe 💖
Thank you, love your recipe!
This is great, I am going to do this bread. Thank you for sharing.
Yes, I did. I used flax seeds instead of chia. It is delicious, I have already baked it twice and am sure I will do it again. I should have let you know. Thank you very much for sharing.
+Sandra Cabeçadas hey there. did yours turn out fluffy? how much baking soda did you use ? because mine came out dense and not fluffy
Hello Fngr Tps, I have used 1/2 a teaspoon soda as in the recipe. Mine came out with a firm crust and a very nice texture inside, moist somehow, without really being fluffy. I like a dense bread and don't think this is supposed to become a fluffy bread.
I was so happy when I saw this video, and next day I did delicious bread. All my friends like it and I send them this video.
Mine turned out like an egg. Outside dry and crispy, inside running wet paste.
@@lamrof Mine too, i'm so surprised everybody said it turns out great. Wtff
Thank you very much for sharing. Will bake asap.
uauu looks so easy and delicious! I'm definitely trying this recipe :)
Thanks for sharing this great recipe 💙
Omg it is looking delicious 😋
Im going to give this a go am gluten free and prediabetic. Is it ok to toast this bread in a toaster?
We would suggest using a sandwich press instead!
looks pretty good
Warmest Hello thank you TERESA :) smiles :))))))))) could u use any gluten free grain ?
This looks so good !!!
So awesome, can’t wait to try it!
Thank you very much.
Great video, look forward to trying this. Curious, what is the make/model of the food processor?
Looks like it's this one R2 Ultra - www.robot-coupe.com/cache/docs_public/f8443ec6f4d88763d8d99eb211aaa2d6/DocR2N_USformat.pdf
⬆⬆⬆⬆ ⏫⏫Dead link. Maybe spam?
Anything else you can use besides a food processor?
Very nice
Best way to store it and how long can we store it for? Thank you🤗
Frig dries bread out. Slice when cold, gently (serrated knife). If not using right away, freeze with a piece of waxed paper betw'n slices. Wrap well. Eat within a month. Thaw in toaster or toaster oven
I just made this, it was really good! The only thing is, it doesn't look as tall as yours. It didn't rise like that but it cooked perfectly. I followed the recipe exactly. I'm wondering what the key is to having it rise if I followed the recipe to a T ?
Try 1 tsp. Bicarbonate soda, instead of 1/2 tsp. A guess
I am sooooo happy to have found you finally!!!! Thank you for this
Definitely making this!!!!! I loveee bread! 🤣
Hi , Can i keep the batter ready, refrigerate for a day and bake later?
Simple straightforward recipe and video!!! Cool!
This bread looks/sounds delicious. I, however, am restricting extracted oils from my regimen. Is there any way to exclude the oil from this recipe and still achieve a good result?
Have you tried it out with no oil?I too have omited oils so I am thinking of making this but just without the oil. I guess the dfference would bethat it might come out a bit dry, nothing more.
You can substitute apple sauce for oil in almost any baking recipe.
I doubt it, unless it's something like tahini
Hei, Nice recipe! Can we use quinoa flour also.
Thank you!!
Thank you for putting the ingredients in righten more time to righten thanks again
Can put bread sliced in freezer ? Up to 3 months. 6 months? A year?
Can batter myself? Can I use kitchen aid, the big one?
Not need grease butter on pan?
Can add walnut? Pecans? ...
I look forward to making.
Excellent 👍 presentation 👍
Thank you for sharing .Just now my gf quinoa chia bread come out of the owen.It taste delicious .💖
Thanks so much
Hey
So does this bread taste good with peanut butter?
Sounding yum! What brand is your food processor please?😊
I use a Robot Coupe Food Processor. T:) x
I did the bread today. And decided to make little muffins, Easier to take them with me. I also added 2 table spoon of oats with chia seeds. they are great
Good idea! Thanks for sharing! :-)
Looks great, when I look on it my mouth makes water!
رائع راح اطبقة 😍👍🏻👍🏻
I know you say to use the food processor and not a blender, but what would happen if you used a blender?
Yes I want to know too
I think oil free with apple sauce as a replacement for the fat would be great. Or some avocado or something
Thank you -- I plan to make this and pizza crust recipe.
I just made this, and it turn out gross. I do not know if I did something wrong... I followed the recipe, but when I took the bread out of the oven it did not grow at all and it was crunchy from the outside and extremely soft from the inside. Plus, the smell was horrible. Is it possible that I processed it for too long in the food processor or that the temperature of the oven was too low? (I did follow directions when it comes to temperature)
It's just this kind of bread. Not s'posed to be "fluffy" as some say. It's a very dense, health lovers bread. Who knows what you might have done differently. I don't suggesting it again. Stick with yeasted breads.
What food processor are you using? I like that it’s stainless steel and not plastic
It's called a Robot Coupe....French made and the best you can get....I've had mine for 15 years....:) x
Thanks, which model is it?
Hi Merry Christmas and Prosperous Happy New Year
What if you have chia flour and quinoa flour? Can you make an equal volume swap and still come out with the same loaf or will it differ in appearance, taste & texture?
Does it taste anything like regular bread? Also is it hard to digest or is it easy?
tastes awesome - easy !
Thank you for sharing! Will try it tomorrow:)
Please reply...... I've just soaked the chia seeds in 1 cup of water for overnight.....is that okay? I know it said half cup but i misread!!!
Great. I made it several times. But why scrape metal with metal???
Sorry , may I ask how much of baking soda as well as lemon juices or apple cider? Thank you
Here's the link to this bread recipe on her website: thehealthychef.com/blogs/recipes/gluten-free-bread
I am oil free. Can I replace the oil with another substitute?
Hi! Could I make it using hemp seeds instead of chia? The process would be the same? Thank you!
It wouldn't work with hemp seed [to replace chia] - the chia seed absorb water to make the gel which adds moisture and softness to the bread....
Hi, could you please tell me, if I bake it in microwave, then for what duration and degrees should I bake this in?
I haven't personally tried it so I'm not quite sure! If it's a convection oven, the timing should be similar.
I am confused. The video says to cook for 1 1/2 hrs at 320 f. Yet the written recipe says 40 -45 minutes. This is a vast difference.
U did not mention how much baking soda and when u say grams for the ingredients can u tell me how many cups or tablespoons that is? I can not WAIT to make this thank u!!!
I am so very sorry! And thank u so much for directing me to the written version!! Can’t wait!!!
You're from Samui? Wow cool! Sawasdee krub thanks for this wonderful recipe 😊 I'll give it a try at home.
Me starting a healthy eating habit after my 21 days of fasting. Currently on day 6. I will definitely make this.
Looks n will taste so good thanks so much going to try it out ❤️🙏
Be cautious. If you're fully fasting with only grape juice & water, start back with raw foods, & go slowly. Eat very little the first few days. Don't start back into cooked foods if you've been fasting from food.
Hi, how much Apple Cider Vinegar should I use instead of the lemon?
Instead of oil can I substitute it with one whole fresh avocado? Or is avocado oil good to use in this recipe?
Thank you.
Maybe just the equivalent of half a lemon
Avocado oil is oil. Use it!
which food procesor do you use? I have been looking for so many but I did not find a good one
