Hey. I love the furniture arrangement in the dining room and living room. It’s your best one yet. You now have some quality display furniture and that is your limit. It looks cozy and definitely reflects your passion of honoring the past. You go girl!!
Sophia, I remember your days of makeup pallettes, pens and scrapbook paper! You have made remarkable progress over the years. Don't apologize for doing what you enjoy, just bask in the glow of success. 👍👍👍
It was so timely to watch you declutter. My daughter and I have spent the last week or so decluttering my stuff. At least all the boxed and bags are moved out of the bedrooms. I am having the old carpets removed that came with the house when it was bought 30 years ago. We are having proper flooring installed. My husband passed away 6 years ago and my youngest moved in with me 2 years ago. Any way I am a hoarder. The stuff is piled in the front room. Or taken downstairs. My job is to purge, donate or give to family. We had work being done all week. A new air conditioner being installed. The flooring will start next week. Wish me luck in lightening the piles. Books, collectables, decor etc. Enjoyed the video. I feel I can do this. The bedrooms rooms already feel lighter just moving the stuff out. 👍👏🤗
Your home looks awesome, yes you've come a long way. I wish I could say that about me...I remember you from before, 😂. You are so funny, keeping your candles. Thanks for sharing.

I have to say, I was impressed by just how much you decluttered. Sophia, one of the first videos I remember watching of yours was you going through drawers in your living room and finding lots and lots of pencils and other writing utensils.
"I like stuff". I understand. I like pretty things also. I love seeing your treasures. Without people like us all the treasures would be thrown out like they are nothing. That would be sad.

I thought that you did a great job. You said that you were going to trash the coasters that you made. I really love those kinds of coasters. I definitely would've love to have them! I like them a lot better than the ceramic or wooden kinds.
I decluttered a little bit along with you. Appreciated having your company while I did it.
No, I get it, the collecting things that are cool and sentimental. The Swedish death cleaning thing is a good idea, but I want to enjoy my things while I'm here. My kids can get rid of everything I have left when I go, I don't care, but while I'm here my Star Wars, movies, music and fake plant collections make me happy and I enjoy them every day! Sophia, please post your mom in a future video soon. I miss seeing her and I miss seeing you smile the whole time she’s there. She’s so iconic and reminds me of my mother! Love your videos and how real you are. I hope you’re doing great! @mygreatchallenge
I don't think I will have much of my mother on a public platform again, sorry. Some people have made it their business to make comments about her that were out of character and quite frankly uncalled for. You want to hate on me, fine. Speculate on my mother, that is a a line I won't allow to cross and just like that ruined it for everyone else. So maybe a glimpse or to, but nothing like she used to be featured. Mom does not deserve to be dragged in their toxic bile.
@@mygreatchallenge oh wow I did not realize that happened about your mom…? I’m sorry that has happened. Just know I love everything about you and your family and would not want to see those comments either, because if I saw them I would be upset too. I wish your family joy and happiness. Honestly, one of my favorite videos of yours was when you were visiting your mom back home. Her home reminded me of my family’s home in Georgia growing up.
I have been decluttering my own house, finding all kinds of stuff from my parents & grandparents. Funnily enough, I found a travel alarm clock exactly like the one you had in this video that was my grandma's. I didn't think it was worth anything, so it probably went to the Goodwill. Hope someone can enjoy it!
I remember all the pens everywhere! Your home looks lovely, warm and inviting. The concern I have is years from now, the responsibility your sons will have dealing with all your treasures.
That is because you assume there is no plan in place for them or that they will left unwanted. We always project our own stories onto others. Both the boys have shown interest in keeping family belongings and I am perfectly aware that some will need selling before I am gone. There is no concern. One of my retirement project is cataloging what stays behind and what is to be sold. I do not live my life projected 35 years into the future, there is no point in that. How dreadful! I wish to enjoy it today. The same way I want my children to enjoy their life now and not think about their parents being 6 ft under.
@@mygreatchallengeThis was the perfect response to this comment and thank you for expressing it so well. I get remarks like this a lot and it drives me crazy. I’m living in the here and now and enjoying my life, not worrying about “someday when I’m gone”
@bonniehickey9978 exactly. Who wants to prepare for their death in their 50s. I am in the best shape I have been in the past 15 years I have goals for my retirement the last thing on my mind is preparing my last will and testament and worrying about the dumpsters the boys will require to haul my crap away. I am 54 in 2 weeks, not 84! Come on now!
Hi Sophia, love love your honesty. Alot of people like to give their opinions about others but don't take a second in looking at themselves first. No one's perfect in life. Life is all about lessons to be learned. You are such an inspiration. The vases you are giving away are really pretty maybe someone would be interested on etsy? How are the cats coming along with sharing their meals. They look so adorable. God bless!😘
@@mygreatchallenge Amazing! Cats are so beautiful, no wonder the Egyptians loved them. Many years ago they thought cats had powers. They even mummified them. 😊
I was wondering when you were deciding about the candles if you may have any candle sticks you only use for seasonal decor and they are packed away now. Either way good choice to keep them for now😁
I never understand keeping "other people's memories". I understand keeping family antiques and momentos but not items other familes have discarded. The records are 78s. My mum still has hers. 😅
Nice job Sophia. So glad I needed a break from working in the yard and woo hoo, you had just posted this video. Nah girl you are far from hoarding. I thought everything was neat and organized .
Trust me I know what a clinical hoarder is. I am just playing along with the armchair everything experts who have been assessing for 13 years based on thumbnails and titles alone. We all know they don't really watch, their comments prove it over and over. 👋
we all have things we love, and some dont understand. but some keep things not out of love or sentiment. thats when it needs to be addressed. my sis keeps things just because it was given. and no love involved, shes running out of room. a few things ive kept are few. the last baby lap blanket that i did before my arthritis made it imposible. and a small carry purse. i will never sell those. have a blessed day.
A pleasure to watch a Sophia declutter video. Your home is a reflection of you and the things you love. My only question is, would you consider putting the pet's ashes on the fireplace mantel? Then you can see them and remember them every day.
It is always a slow job, how about putting the magazines in the drawer under the ashes you will not forget them. Then look around the house for an attractive catch all for the middle of the table for tv items coasters etc .i realised that a wooden bowl on the top of a unit would do a better job on my side table
@@cynthiaschaal6379,you don’t need a holder. Let a few drops of wax melt onto a saucer and stand the candle up in it. Perfect for if the power goes off.
Donate the phonograph to a museum where more people can see what they used in the old days.I think the speed is 78 not 48 if its like the old records i had.
Birch was not a big brand. It was one of those lesser brands back then. When I tried to replace the rubber gasket for the talking head, the phonograph repair guy did not even have replacement pieces for them. I had to rube Goldberg a gasket from a vitrola on it.

God bless!😘
Same. MayDay pretty much does not like wet food and Severine eats all the foods
Either way good choice to keep them for now😁
Maybe save the Buddha for garden decor in the new area your putting in. Use the stone facade spray paint to refinish it, might look cool 😊
I never understand keeping "other people's memories". I understand keeping family antiques and momentos but not items other familes have discarded.
The records are 78s. My mum still has hers. 😅
Isn't any collection comprised of other people's belongings?
I would put the old letters in a basket to stay out
Nice job Sophia.
Hey, you have that felt lined drawer in the new curio, you can make a video organizing and cleaning your silverware
It s on my to do list. I have three sets. They won't all fit, that s my problem.
A pleasure to watch a Sophia declutter video. Your home is a reflection of you and the things you love. My only question is, would you consider putting the pet's ashes on the fireplace mantel? Then you can see them and remember them every day.
I would do it if they were in urns. I have to think about it.
❤❤❤ the steak knives!
Aren't they cool?
@@mygreatchallengethose knifes are they made of ivory?
Bakelite
It is always a slow job, how about putting the magazines in the drawer under the ashes you will not forget them. Then look around the house for an attractive catch all for the middle of the table for tv items coasters etc .i realised that a wooden bowl on the top of a unit would do a better job on my side table
Imagine Sophia never buy or collect things anymore - so NO more decluttering videos. Aren´t we all just here for those? 😅
I thought it was for my warm and fuzzy personality. No?
@@mygreatchallenge Of course - you know that we all love your personality (and the decluttering) 🥰
You need candles for emergency, yeah.
I agree - but make sure you have holders that fit those candles so you can use them in an emergency :)
@@cynthiaschaal6379,you don’t need a holder. Let a few drops of wax melt onto a saucer and stand the candle up in it. Perfect for if the power goes off.
@@juliebrooke6099 great tip, thanks!!
Actually I do. In the uranium glass cabinet.
You can also make some out of aluminum foil
Donate the phonograph to a museum where more people can see what they used in the old days.I think the speed is 78 not 48 if its like the old records i had.
Birch was not a big brand. It was one of those lesser brands back then. When I tried to replace the rubber gasket for the talking head, the phonograph repair guy did not even have replacement pieces for them. I had to rube Goldberg a gasket from a vitrola on it.
Even if it didn't work, kids would be amazed at what they used to have for music enjoyment.
Do you still have your Pretty Blue vacuum?
It s at Ed's apartment.
You better wait until Christmas to get rid of the candles.
❤
Hey Sophia! I think the old timey music would be great to use on your videos, if no legal hurdles prevent it.
I wanted to play it for longer but was afraid if Copyright strike 😬
Let's go trash picking!
Tonight!!!!
I would go with you if I lived near by....but I am on the west coast😢
❤❤
How much for record player
I just sold it for $100
@@mygreatchallenge k..it was so kool
❤❤❤😊
Are both of your dogs gone ? I remember w hen you lost one.
Le chiffre is still there. He was sleeping on the floor at the end of the video.
@@mygreatchallenge Thank you for letting me know. You are so kind.
Sofia I remember you mentioned that you want to purchase a new Chesterfield sofa for your living room. Is this one! have I missed something? X ❤
Ah that is the most amazing of street finds!!! It is an 1820s early American Empire I found right outside the upholstery boutique in my town!
That's amasing. It does look nice and goes well with the room style. X
😃
