It is amazing how far tree roots will go and the damage they cause. Glad you got to experience plumbing. It will get easier every time and is good to know how to do minor repairs. Knowledge will save thousands of dollars. Love ya!
Hey Sophia , I forgot to mention earlier, don't put anything there until you are done solving that issue. Also, when you put the bricks use cement instead of sand because I had a small section with bricks and we used sand now the weeds found there way through the sand.
Hi Sophia! This is so satisfying to watch! I too am all about doing as much as I can myself without paying someone ridiculous prices for something we can do ourselves My husband just removed the 30 yr old shower door from our shower stall. Nasty! Cleaning it up, new liner and beautiful shower curtain and done! Good as new and so much easier to clean from now on. No “bath fitter” for at least $5k needed. Our cost, $25 for tension rod , liner , and new curtain Well done Sophia and Scott! Hi from SC!😊💕🏝️
Great job …. You arnt afraid to get your hands dirty and thats a joy to see ❤Hope it all works out great. Its nice to see real problem solving and doing things for yourself ❤
Hey Sophia, your toilet should be draining into a waste drain not the same water pump drain. Also, I'm sure you though about it but if there is a hole somewhere further in that pipe and you pour the chemical through the sump pump it may kill your grass or other plants. This type of work can be done but unfortunately you need special tools and when doing it alone it will take a lot of time. Good luck
The toilet is completely separate and goes to the sewer line which also had roots but we took care if that. This drain is strictly for the sum pump to the French drain. Not attached to anything else.
Sophia, my mom in law had the same problem with the roots, you can dig in sections and not do the whole line. My husband dug sections cut and replaced the cut sections and hers is all clear.
If you get to the point of having Roto Rooter come out to get the roots out you should be aware of something I noticed when you were connecting the old pipe to the new pipe. Your old pipe looks to be very thin walled pipe. It is not as thick as your new pipe. If Roto Rooter sticks a grinding snake in that pipe it is very likely it will crack your old pipe. Keep that in mind. Good job on doing this project yourself.
I think the ground over the pipe that you said you were going to pave should be pavers so you can remove them if you ever have to get to the pipe again.
Oh, I don't know how you get on your knees on the cement! That kills my knees! You need knee pads or one of those foam garden pad things. Can't wait to see the water come out. It will be such a good feeling to know it is cleared out and flowing freely.
Well it's too late now but you shouldn't have put the rocks around the pipe. It should have been clean dirt or sand because you will be walking on the ground which will move the pipe against the rocks and they will eat away the pipe causing you to have a busted pipe. You will have to redo it again in a few years. I know this from experience. Otherwise you amaze me with all that you do.
In the U.K. the home owner owns up to the edge of their lawn and has the right to access their property over the grass verge and the footpath. The maintenance of the verge and the path is the responsibility of the local council who own it.
I'd get the professional in, it's not worth destroying your house foundations or having a basemwnt flood. I have a lilly pilly tree in my front yard that has big roots breaking our lawn surface and it needs removing, my next gardening job.
I think you need to call a plumber, because if you flush chemicals/compounds down your toilet, and they kill the plant in your front yard that has grown roots in your sump pump over flow that pushes water into the street, that means your toilets are flushing into the street instead of being connected to the sewer line, and sent either to a septic tank or into the city sewer system to go to the water treatment facilities....right? Am I not understanding how flushing the treatments down the toilet or down the drain is going to clean the run-off pipe? Or are you going to dump this stuff in your sump pit?
No. The toilet goes straight I to the main sewer line. This pipe is not connected to a toilet, only the sump pump. They have products you can add to toilets that kill roots. They also have the ones for septic tanks. If the toilet was going to the street I am pretty sure it would have been noticed on day one. The direct to sewer line also has roots in it, that s what roto rooter does. This is separate.
I know that you have your plan Sophia…, but unless the products also dissolve the roots in your pipes… I think that I would lean towards having the pipe rotor rootered and then putting the product in for more of a maintenance item. I know hiring someone is expensive, but water and sewage is no joke. Also, little critters like pipes so I think some sort of screen at the curb would be needed, unless there already was a screen in that cap and I just didn’t see it.
Sofia you are my hero !!! So motivating. Thank you!

Wow! What a job! You amaze me how you seem to know how to fix all these things! I would not have known where to start!
I don't. I just wing it with a general idea of what needs to be done.
You never cease to AMAZE me at what you get done!! Such a hard working!!!!!❤
Thanks. I try. Staying busy and active but you can do it too. I m trying to inspire
Wow, do we see a future entrepreneurial home reno Queen in the making?? And we're here to witness it? 🎉😂

Jill of all trades! Great team work. ❤
cant wait for the next project, love them all
Thank you!!
This chick has more time than us - total powerhouse!
Lol, thank you

Yep 100% agree plus you get the DIY satisfaction everything you walk into your bathroom. Well done!
@@mygreatchallengemy husband is learning this. He is more the one to call and have someone else donit!🙄yes!
Do you have a chisel? If so, you could chisel that piece of stone so that it will fit in the space next to the pipe.
Great Job!

Me too. We just need some rain to see if it drains properly
Good job!

I would have to dig up the lawn. Not a fan.

Is there anything you can’t turn your hand to Sophia?!
I really hope this works for you and solves the sump pump problems.
Me too. I wish for rain now so we can see if it drains properly

Ladybug, you did more than most. You should be proud of yourself. You did well.
Always use a kneeling pad on concrete or hard floors. If you don’t you risk getting a condition called housemaid’s knee which is not fun.

Our waterline broke because a rock was rubbing against the line.
❤
You are an amazing women!!!
Thank you
How do you keep small creatures from getting in the pipe?
They really have plenty other places to go.

No screen. I think the product kills and overtime dissolves the root. I ll have to see.
Hello
Hi Martha!
Your city doesn't fix the damages they cause?? Most cities in the south do. hate you have to do those things yourself.
It s actually a contracted company so I would have to do a small claim with the insurance etc. I don't have time for that.
NO THAT JUST GROSS!
