What a beautiful dog Erys is. I met a whippet earlier this year who saw me looking and motioned me over with her head to say hello and give pets. I happily obliged.
Amazing! Thank you for the video, you made my evening. We have two Whippets, Lila a two year old girl and Vance an 8 year old male and they are the best dogs ever. Obsessed with Whippets.
I love your dry humor so much. Thank you for sharing about your life with your whippets -- I am a first-time whippet owner and I really enjoy your content.
Thank you for taking us along for her wonderful fun day!! She was such a good girl. It's so impressive that she is showing so well already. Imagine what she can do in the future shows at the adult level!
I missed making videos, too, Scott. If you mean the World Dog Show, we skipped it for a number of reasons, but we have some big shows planned for the rest of the year.
Thank you for the awesome video! I was wondering would you be open to do a video on the behavior changes when puppies start to mature? (Such as becoming more selective with other dogs and strangers) I have a male whippet puppy who just turns one and I’ve been noticing behaviors such as not going to every dog to play or going to every stranger to be petted like when he was a young puppy and was wondering if these are just normal behavior changes as he matures or if he is becoming too shy or nervous. (Some people I met keeps calling him nervous and shy when he wouldn’t let stranger pet him or take a treat from stranger. But he’s not shaking or reacting, just steps away or back) As a first time whippet owner (and dog owner), such information on what changes to expect as normal as the puppy grows up would be very helpful!
What a great idea! I will absolutely do it very soon 🤗 Being more selective about dogs and people to interract with is completely normal for maturing whippets and is in no way a sign of shyness, unless accompanied by body language that clearly signals fear. Your youngster sounds like Erys, who prefers to not have contact with all strangers, as she simply doesn't find them interesting. She's often labeled as timid, although she is just selective. Even though some adult whippets get excited by the attention of unfamiliar people, not all are or have to be. Same goes for unfamiliar dogs.
@@ShowPaws thank you! That would be wonderful! It is good to know that this seems to be normal behaviors. I’m continuing to socialize him by taking him to lots of places and meeting lots of people. But it definitely helped to put my mind more at ease knowing Erys (and other whippets) have similar behaviors and is not shy or nervous. For some context, my 1 year old’s name is Watson and he was the calmest and more shy one in the litter (used to pee when seeing a roomba). But with good socialization, as a puppy he just wanted to play with every dog and say hi to every stranger. Now that he’s one, he is becoming more selective. Looking forward to your next video!
Like your videos, and have been watching them a lot lately as I am getting a little lady whippet next week. during the last 25 years, I have had Borzois, but this time opted for a short haired somewhat smaller dog. I still love the Borzoi, but try coming up from the beach with a wet, dirty long haired Borzoi, I do believe the Whippet is easier. Looking forward to next week...
When it comes to coat maintenance and size, you will definitely find it way easier with a whippet 🙈 You will have a lot of fun with the little whippet lady, I am sure 💞
Hello Dear Adriana. Would you mind sharing with us her pink basket/bed brand or store (or mum piece of art) with us. I really like it and looks perfect for such situations. Thank you and congrats for your day with her.
Thank you ❤️ If you're referring to the one in the car, it's homemade. I really wanted one, but since my exact idea is not made by any store, having a crafty and creative mom helped 🙈
My wife and I enjoy your videos so much, they give so much insight into what is and isn't normal behavior for a whippet. The nail trimmer you used in this video looked much slower and gentler than the one we have, what kind of trimmer is that? Thank you so much for sharing your whippet family with us!
❤️ The brand is Oster. However, I use it on maximum speed, even though it looks really slow in the video. I think it's an illusion similar to tires of vehicles in car commercials 🙈
@@ShowPaws I was going to ask the same question as the above :) Do you have a link to where those are sold? I tested with a Dremel once, but it is so noisy that the dog gets scared. We have a whippet in our family, her name is Astrid and she is 9 years old. Very kind dog full of love!
Great video! Have you ever done a video regarding dew claw removal during the first few weeks of life? One of my Iggies has dew claws and the other doesn’t, and their breeders had differing opinions on it healthwise. Personally I think that dew claw removal is unnecessary for Italian Greyhounds, but I am curious about your thoughts!
I haven't covered this topic yet. I don't remove them on puppies bred by myself and I've only had one whippet who broke her dew claw nails in half on a few occasions, but other than that - none have ever injured them. Other breeders have had to deal with injuries way more often, thus deciding to remove them at birth. In general it's not a common practice in Europe, even though Erys has had hers removed. A very controversial topic, similar to spaying and neutering. Some studies show dogs need them, other sources state they do not, so I guess more research might be needed.

Congratulations - Erys has grown into a marvelous, extremely beautiful whippet! She so relaxed in the bath and during nail trimming - admirable.
Thank you so much 💗💗💗

Well done Arys❤..Winx and I are super proud of you.
Thank you Addie for being you ❤️
Thank you, dear Karen! 💞
Thank you for posting again, Addie! Missed seeing your full video. Were you at the National show in Europe recently?

Congratulations on both Ery's behaviour, international shows as well as her show results! 🎉🎉🎉❤🏆🥇🏅
Thank you, dear Elizabeth ❤️❤️❤️
how time flies. Erys has become such a pretty girl.

Why did you say this was a mistake and then say it went really well.that was click bait, misleading.
