If BMW could have given the UK market the m140i with Xdrive it would have and people in the UK would have brought it as they did in Europe.
This hating on four wheel drive hot hatchbacks is a none argument hence many manufacturers are now offering four wheel drive in their most powerful cars.
@@markrhoden68 i have a honda running 450 and with proper set up and decent wheels and tyres it doesnt slip up in early gears. disappears on a/b roads from anything. 4wd is honestly for people who cant drive. the 140 is just a classic package, i cant fit in them though haha. yeah makes no sense only given the worst roads euro country the rwd lol
The A45s is a 50k car. The M140i is (now) a 20k car. The M140i punches way above its weight and is the only Hot Hatch you could buy new with RWD and a strait six 3.0 engine. I think you can have more fun in with a RWD car, but the A45s is no doubt is a really good performance car.
Comparing a yesterday car (m140i and price with a today car (a45s) and price.
M2 last generation 50k, today's M2 65k.
We're comparing two different generations off car and attempting to come up with a fair comparison
There is nothing you could do to this car that would make it anywhere near the m140i. So sad to see that car go

This is how you know the M140i is a certified gangster in the streets. We comparing a non M car to a fully fledged AMG with all the bells and whistles.
In straight lines maybe, but (stock) the 140 seems to not be the best on B or C roads from experience. As he said in the video, the AMG can put its power down pretty much any time.

stock vs stock the 140is dropped in the water. a lot of shit beats a stock 140, it’s just kids who live at home with finance on them gets a cheeky pop and bang map and think they are the bollocks lol

Loving the content, and am watching the upgrades with interest, as really I can't find anyone else updating an A45s on RUclips. My own Black A45s has just past three years old, I have completed a few upgrades with an Armaspeed intake, and back box delete, but there is really nothing much available being in Cairns in Australia. I don't really like the sound inside the car with the rear silencer, so I am waiting for a Cobra Sports exhaust to arrive from the UK. I will be interested to see your choice of exhaust in the future.

I've just come out of a stage 1 M2 competition into one of these.. the m2 is more raw! But I'm loving the interior in the A45s. You can also drive these so much quicker, got to be more careful with the right foot in the m2. Both great cars in their own ways
I had a m2 comp ac schnitzer edition. Was a beast but I love the look of these mercs they are just more modern. M2 more of a drivers car tho
Put it in drift mode and it's on par if not better than a rwd car. Best of both worlds which u don't really get in any other hatch.
It would be great if you could do some comparisons of running and owner costs for all your cars later into your A45S ownership. If Merc dealer service costs are as horrific as I remember them, I think I will just stick with my mk7.5 Golf R. A friend of mine recently sold his 8Y RS3 after several months of ownership as he said the fuel costs alone were pretty awful for a daily.

Why waste time and money going stage two if you intend to go stage three and ‘push the limits’? Tune once, tune big!

My man,you need to get that shitty sound pumped through the speaker,coded out asap.anyway,I'm pretty sure once you go stage 3 on this,the boring factor will completely vanish.The pre generation(facelifted) in stage 3 form with the right supporting mods Is an absolute animal

In my opinion You cant compare a mega Tunes car with a standard one. Compare them after You get the a45s at the same tuning level that You took the m140i
they fly through clutches at 550 plus lol
I mean it’s all off the shelf crap anyone can have, fast now but built to throw away in a decade. Do a build, something different. Adam C, Monky, Jamie all do it different and it makes good content.

I honestly believe that the A45 got the best interior in it's class.
I got a fully speced M140i shadow edition manual which I looked for, for ages before finding one.
If I would buy a 4wd auto, it would probably the the RS3, but the A45 is definitely up there.

Great video as always. Just FYI, you’re doing a “soft launch” on the race start. Hold a paddle back during the process next time and it’ll do a “hard launch” at a higher RPM. I did it for the first time yesterday and it’s great! Looking forward to more upgrades!

Just my two cents worth however, I feel the new FL5 Honda Civic Type R could well be an absolute beast when it comes to fresh RUclips content as it ticks so many boxes. It’s an absolute monster, both on the road and track and will no doubt have endless modification and tuning potential and will arguably become a cult classic. Not just with the Honda fanboys either..😉
Maybe time to sell the Golf R and M3, keep the A45s as your daily and buy a new Type R that you could track and modify?

A45S is amazing , the sound track whilst having some fun is awesome and driving characteristics unbelievable.
What sound? What you are hearing is a soundaktuator in the interior, can hear it immediately. All artificial.

It's the engine noise pumped through the speaker

Sold my m140i for a 20 TTRS in December. Whilst I loved the m140i and spent a great deal of performance enhancing on it, I don’t miss it one bit. Absolutely love the RS.

I had a m140i I now have the less powerful m135i xdrive but IMO power without control is pointless.
Example in cold wet weather the m140i might as well have been a 118i but the new car can be pushed in all weather conditions without fear of binning it.
Completely disagree. You don’t buy an M140i to drive it in the rain. I drive mines hard in the dry only and it’s well better than your poxy M135i that’s boring as hell

@@EditCrazeEdit well let’s be honest. If you daily the m140i, at some point it’s going to be driven in the rain. If you are implying you only drive it when it’s dry then you clearly made his point relevant as to why he said you can’t drive it. While he can daily his m135i when ever. Not as good he says but he certainly is enjoying it better and at the end of the day the user decides what’s better for him.
It’s the only reason why I didn’t get one myself. So I got a boring fwd car - which I may say I’m not bored of albeit not been anywhere near as fast as the m140i

Those M140's are amazing sledge hammers with the old America recipe of big engine in little car
But I'm old school and have always been fascinated by the traditional hot hatch recipe of underdog small capacity units bashing big engined arrogant nose up cruisers and lane hoggers
That coupled to the fact the A45 is a technical masterpiece + hand built 2.0lt and rare then it's a loose argument
On the flip side I think the cost of an A45s Vs the all access M135 & M140 is it's only real detraction

As you used to compare your Golf R to the M140i ... I think the Golf R vs the Merc is a better comparison both being 4 wheel drive.
I know it is unlikly this comment will reach you, but my last car broke down and now i am i have to decide on what to get next, on my list is the a35 amg (from 2020), an xdrive m140i-XDrive (from 2019) and a golf 7.5 R (from 2018) All with 1 year warrenty, expect the merc, with 2 years. I love the look of the Interior, but on reddit everyone keeps telling me it is not quality, i disagree, but since you drove all cars i am interested in may i ask, wich one would you choose, and if interior the most important for you, is there any way you would chose something over a 2020 merc? greetings from germany :)
A lot of peeps (including myself) could relate to the 140i as it is a more affordable car and there is a huge aftermarket support for the B58 and N55 and so on and on. BUT People seem to be missing the point, if you were offered strong money from Ricky and you wanted to freshen up the channel then it was a good move. I think the a45s is a cracking car, but can this 4 pot handle 700+ ? Everyone and their dad has an RS3 so it is nice to see something different. Either way, I'll be watching along :D
The m140 became a useless car....way too much pwer...that was mostly unusable. I hope u dont make the same mistake with this car.

It's a weird one with this Vs the M140i. I had the previous gen A45 since new for over 5 years and truly loved it, but I've always had 2 cars and for a long time had an E46 330ci nowhere near as Powerful but the sound of the inline 6 and the rear wheel drive, just how BMWs drive. There was a fair bit about the a class that I didn't like about how it drove, like it wasn't perfect, and the BMW is even less than but for some reason feels almost more together. I do think A45s Vs M140 the A45s is a better car and is the best choice (hands down the best looking!), It's just a shame it's a 2.0 4 pot not a lovely straight 6, but does it really matter in the end 🤔
The colour of the A45 can be improve. M140 i colour is too much for the eyes…….

730hp in this motor and gearbox will be in hundred pieces big mistake as for 2.0 let's see if it can handle 460kw@the wheels on a stock block and gearbox guys in Australia are doing it in golf r's about 730hp ish brake horsepower going in 9s in quarter mile on E85 for the UK guys....amg won't hold my breath
