- A quick video on "snap canceling" a warlock movement tech used to cancel your slide animation which is utilized to transfer the momentum from the slide or change directions quicker when paired with icarus dash.
FAQ - Does it make you go further than doing a normal Icarus Dash?
Yes, it's slightly faster than doing the burst glide + icarus dash combo even more so with Transversive Steps.

FAQ - Does it make you go further than doing a normal Icarus Dash?
Yes, it's slightly faster than doing the burst glide + icarus dash combo even more so with Transversive Steps.
FAQ2 - Can you do this on controller?
Yeah I've seen controller players do this with the default controller settings.
(I don't play on controller so this is purely sourced from someone else)
Why didn't you show that then? In your findings, did you limit FPS to the two main rates? This is weak, do better.
@@bannedmann4469 you can clearly see that it's faster in the video
@@bannedmann4469 Everything you asked is in the video, just use your eyes man
I can do it on roller as easy as mnk
Does this only work with the snap, or can it work with celestial fire? (Not sure if i spelled that right lmao)
The title could have been how 3.14% of warlocks give their opponents nightmares
or use a macro
its so stupid easy why would you need a macro

I find the idea that only π% of warlocks know this
Also works with the shadebinders melee, though it doesn't work as well without Icarus dash
The game needs more of these mini movement techs - I’m a big fan of Tempest Strike/Blink
I think this game could use a lot more nuance. Movement techs aside, there should also be more separation between the different subclasses and the roaming super re-tuning is a perfect opportunity for this.
Imagine if the Arc roamers had expanded move sets? Take Arc Staff: imagine if it could do more combos that mix light/heavy attacks AND parry? That would be very fun.
It would definitely be applied to Striker too so the Titan's roamers get further differentiated beyond the flavor of the punches.
Movement techs are all good as long as they can be done on MnK and Controllers if it can only be done on a MnK (like the scroll wheel boost) they need to be patched out cuz crossplay
Bungie keeps nerfing them. Bring back sword skating (not worldline, the regular burst glide during a sword swing), orb skating, etc
@@timelostadept I don't believe balance between platforms is possible or a realistic expectation. There's a reason why crossplay only happens when you party up with someone on another platform.
@@NikitaOsito controllers and mnk are balanced in a baseline which is why a lot of people use controller on pc even high profile pvp players like coolguy, drewsky or cammycakes
You’re not a real movement kid unless you accidentally drop well of radiance at the start of every trials round
This is actually the main reason I move to Dawnblade again, for 1 it has a longer cooldown so I can skate around QP longer without worrying about super and 2 even if I accidentally pop it I can still roam with it.
This, THIS is what I’m most excited for in any game! Movement tech like this that’s got a high degree of precision and lots of use cases. I miss this so much as a big fan of movement and arena shooters like Quake and Titanfall!
This would be great if the game had a smaller sandbox. Now if you want to have competetive movement you have to be a dawnblade warlock with transversuve steps, which is like .001% of the games whole sandbox. Fuckin sucks man. Just go play Titanfall seriously lmao
This is so sick. I've been using it in matches for a couple days now and the added speed is insane. Nobody expects you to be a full second early to normal rollout spots
I have Jump and Super both bound to one of my side mouse buttons just for Snap Canceling (and Well Skating) but it’s super fun, even in PvE it’s very useful to just go fast.
This drops the day after I come in the discord and ask for clarity. You are awesome
I love how Destiny movement techs went from “mash jump” in D1 to this
Unironically amazing instructions
just found this video now and after like 20 minutes of practice i can do this, its really fun to fly around faster then boosted Icarus
I’m loving warlock more and more in pvp. I mostly play void but I like all subclasses and warlock is underrated
The lengths Destiny players go for 1% more speed
Lol I'm not even convinced that it has that. Surely not from this weak video. Definitely not worst using that melee for.
It's not just used for a small speed boost. It cancels your slide, and like he said in the video, you can rapidly change direction. Something similar can be done on titan, but is more situational.
If you knew how to do it you'd know it's more than just 1%
@@bannedmann4469 it's actually really useful
@@lemonwithalime exaggeration to make a point
Hynra I tried ur void titan build and it was amazing. I know that me and many others would watch if you showcased more of your best builds
Glad you enjoyed it, I was planning to make one on the infamous Starfire Protocol build but since it's getting some new tools next expansion I'll wait to see its potential then. No guarantee tho.
@@Hynra Still waiting for the fashion buff to starfire, then I'll be able to give it a go. Plz bungie, ornament...
@@2ScoopsPlz I like to use iron countershade to make it look better. That way my bathrobes look battle ready.
I've been doing this for a bit after hearing either wallah or benny say something about it, ive not mastered it as I don't play solar warlock much but its fun to use, except for when I well on spawn in trials :p
That’s awesome, gonna practice it
Yeah I was discussing this with you on stream, glad you finally did a video on it
I saw this video earlier this morning, just spent 30 min on cosmodrome getting this down so much fun
I just remembered this and I need to learn this. Solar warlock is my pvp main and I've been finding icarus dash lacking in mobility by itself
My two trials teammates were doing this yesterday and I was so confused, now I understand
Alternate title: 3.14% of warlocks have arthritis
Also the most satisfying sounding movement.
Also, seeing as you have one in the demonstration clip, thoughts on Trust?
Well now I’ve gotta try this
I've seen Cammy do this, it's pretty cool
How are you doing the immediate icarus dashes to the side? I can snap cancel forward now but not to the side
It even sounds sick af too.
As a warlock main, i can firmly say i had no clue this was a thing.
The sound of the cancel is so fucking satisfying I need to try this
U've opened a new world to me
Btw if let tip if it’s not working, go into your settings and make sure auto melee is binded with something, then try it
Hello just wondering is there any point to doing this over the just skating around? And also I’ve been using it myself but I feel like It’s not working sometimes, is the snap sound and flash effect supposed to always happen cause sometimes it just doesn’t do it
how does one jump mid slide, I can't get it to jump let alone do the rest
ive been doing this for like an hour and nothing has come up i feel like its been stealth patched
Will this trick also work if you have a binding for uncharged melee? It's been a control option for a while that uses a regular melee in place of activating the ability, and that is more or less what using the super button while it isn't charged does.
Nope
Your Warlock be schmovin'.
Snap cancel is do fun to use. I've used it since solar 3.0 release in mostly pve speed runs for when I'm not on a EE sword
thanks for this
is this faster than no ammo eager edge sword skating?
Ive seen this done with the strand warlock melee, terror does it in his videos.
I got the first sequence. But I'm physically hindered by my motor response. Ie can't press button fast enough. SO I can't incorporate the icarus to complete the set.
Why does this require snap if you're sliding, jumping and pressing super?
Edit: I can see that part of the snap animation triggers which is presumably where the benefit comes from, but I'm just so confused as to why
My understanding; When you press your super button while it's not charged it attempts to use your melee ability, unlike your regular melee ability keybind your super keybind has the highest(?) action priority (doesnt matter what animation you're in, when you press super your character will stop that animation in order to activate the super- example; you ) which allows you to cancel the slide and since you pressed jump before the super button the game jumps instead of doing the melee instead.
@@Hynra Thanks for the explanation! Makes sense to me
So keybind those 3 things, to one button, to make it look like you got epic skills?
Wonder how you got the statistics.
I seriously need to master this. I’m a Cerberus main so any movement upgrades buffs me
I don’t think I’m doing it wrong and it may be because I’m on controller but I can’t really change directions and it’s not giving a lot of momentum, any tips?
I wonder how the Threadrunner will be with movement. Dawnblade with icarus dash still king of movement.
hopefully threadrunner finally makes hunter the fastest class its silly how warlocks and titans can both move faster by simply jumping outside of shatterskating hunters are the slowest
I can’t see grapple or any abilities revolving around grapple to come even close to surpassing current movement techs. The only way it could possibly beat it is if it has a well skate esc tech.
I totally forgot about this, use to do this all the time before Eager edge became a thing and I become a wellskate simp thanks for reminding me
i cant get it to work on my xbox, am i doing something wrong?
Another tip, unbind auto melee and change charged melee to something else so that you don’t accidentally waste your snap in combat
As a controller player (idk if that affects this or not), it doesn’t work for me unless it is the auto melee, but I’ve found that just having the charged and uncharged melee binding along with the auto melee bindings work just fine
friendly reminder this can also be done with the stasis melee, but not arc or void
im trying this movement tech but i cant make it zoooming like what Hynra does im like mid pace
Can you do it on cosole tho? Tired of all the fancy mouse and keyboard BS
Do you have a keybind vid? New to PC work and finding some interesting binds to make life easier but still working on something better
I have my keybinds in my discord but the only major thing to take away from this video is that I have my air dodge as "left alt".
How does this work? Has it been removed?
Im trying to recreate it but it doesn't work.
I'm just going to assume this only works on high end PC's? Just like eager edge/burst glide skating for Warlocks and Titans these days?
Is this possible on console/contoller
Is this another thing that gives you more speed the higher your frame rate? The warlock tech where you scroll to jump on a slope to gain ludicrous speed is more effective at higher frames, so I just want to know what to expect with my PC.
Does it work on controller? I been trying to do it but no luck, someone have some tips for the timing?
I haven’t tried this since i main pve and I already know how to do all kinds of sword tech but does the uncharged melee input work w this???
nope, you need the action priority from your super to cancel the slide
I love this movement solely because of the snap sound
For anyone else who like me was struggling to get this to work(on controller), you need to have auto melee bound. I had it unbound so I could throw titan hammers and this wasn't working. As soon as re-bound auto melee, this started working. Thankfully, it seems that the charged melee binding overrides the auto melee so I can still throw my hammer when ever I'm on titan and then use this on warlock without having to change the button mapping every time.
Any help on what you have auto melee bound to?
@@Arielle301 I have all three melee options bound to rb.
@@Mc_Vomit alright cool, I’ll give it a try is the timing for everything super tight? Or do you have a small bit of wiggle room?
100% practicing this
i didn't even knew this shit existed, thx for the tech, might use it
What is that class ability?
When i slide i cant jump for some reason?
That midtown clip pissed me off and I wasn't even playing
im so proud ik how to do this
Now what should my button layout be if I’m using controller and to do this
Im seeing a couple comments saying it isn't possible. Something with how you literally can't jump from the slide like that. I haven't gotten in to check for myself yet. It could just be lack of speed of input because keyboards will always be better for that.
Is this possible on controller or has to be a modded one like a scuff or something?
You need to bind your super to a single button press
Where in the video are you supposed to use the incinerator snap??

Hey Hynra, don't know if you'll see this but I can't seem to do it on controller? Sliding glues me to the floor for the duration of the slide, meaning I can't jump to start the snap cancel.
I've never played on controller before so I don't know if there's a way to do it. Sorry!
@@Hynra thanks for the reply! Sucks that controllers can't perform this, and I'm a warlock main too :(((
Do this also work on console?
A question about icarus dash in general: As a Hunter main, it looks to me, when I'm playing my Warlock, that "bunny dashing" is slower than just running the same distance. Is this true, or is it mobility-dependent?
More detail: When I'm running and activate icarus dash, it feels like I'm actually slowing down while in the dash, whereas in Warlock videos, it looks just as fast/faster.
Jump, activate burst glide, icarus dash.
Basically you need to use your burst glide right before you use icarus dash.
What’s the benefit?
Does this work on Controller
I can do it if I bind super to my grenade button, but if I do it normally with R1+L1 it doesn't work despite me having the timing down, it seem ps5 controllers can't handle that many inputs at once
Ur Timing is off,for me it works on Ps5
Ty
Incomprehensible, I’ve met with a terrible fate
Is this possible on console?
Couldn't you just charge melee instead of super? And does this work with the other solar melee?
Nope
Not possible on my controller setup unfortunately
The basic cancel works on stasis too
Looks like a Titan movement from the past
Does this work on controller? I have been trying for soo long, and I can't do it
I don't play on controller but there's a video showcasing that it's possible.
Can we do this on Console ? 🤔
Warlocks honestly have a high skill ceiling and while its annoying to go against gotta give em props
What are the Button requirements for this? On Controller using Default and puppeteer controls i can do this without fail But any Other settings simply dont Work. When i try it with any Other settings the melee Just gets used normally unlike its supposed to. So there has to be some sort of Button Setup requirement for this to Work which unfortunately makes this very impractical for controller.
Edit: it seems that this only works If you either use a Control Scheme that has super bound to 2 Buttons with one of them being Nade and the Other being either active melee or Auto melee (Like in Default or puppeteer) or bind Nade, Auto/active melee and super to the Same Button with the ever so Tiny drawback that If you have a Nade when trying to perform the snapcancel it also throws your Nade. Its a shame really, Tech Looks quite cool
Any pointers?
I've been trying to learn how to do this, but it seems like I'm not moving fast enough, which is leading me to question if I'm doing it correctly or not.
You should be pressing your jump and your super at the exact same time, And you will know if you are snap canceling correctly if you hear the snap sound
Just macro
You have to press jump before icarus dashing
どーやって出来ますか?
Does it still work today?
Did they nerf this? I swear i saw patch notes about adjustments, so this wouldn't be a thing anymore
what are your keybinds for doing this?
Default
My icarus dash is on left allt tho
can you do this on console
so i can get it to work on roller, but it seems that the speed gain is non existent on controller, you go the same speed, often slower than just the normal burst dash
its kinda weird how the input change simply makes Icarus dash less useful
ever since i learned how to do this a year ago i literally never dont snapskate
this might make me pick up warlock ngl
