The phenomenon you describe about de-industrialization is what happened with neoliberalism, when finance capitalism overthrew industrial capitalism, it's not just capitalist and workers that are in antagonism, capitalist are also in internal antagonism(finance capital vs Industrial capital), the interests of these two set of capitalists are at odds, the former devoured the latter and became finance capitalists, it's why banks, hedge funds, mutual funds, Asset management companies etc eat the lion share of the economy despite producing nothing.
