Take annuminas and fornost they give you more income and don’t ever endanger Aragorn like that again. Angmar could have sent forces to crush the heir of isildur and you wouldn’t be able to get forces there in time. Aragorn is your best general, use him. Also the dunlendings are a huge threat. Try to get agreements with them to keep them off your back and leave them to fight with enedwaith.

Glad you restarted the campaign. Norther Dunedain are great once they get rolling. Here are some tips:
Aragorn is in the right general area, but has to be moved to the province slightly north-east to Cameth Brin. You can walk him there after you take the castle. He will gain some excellent traits that allow you to heal more fallen units. And this also puts you in a straight line for the Army of the Dead.
Remember that the Weathertop slightly north west of Ost Sul is a fort! You can stock 4 units in there for free upkeep in case Angmar comes knocking on your door.
Speaking of forts, the army in the fort to your north west is there to take either Annuminas (west) or Fornost (east) which are your main recruiting centers for Arnorian units in the later stages. Besides that, they are also custom settlements and real moneymakers for you. Try to get those next, Cameth Brin is a great outpost to stage raids into Angmar from, but those two are essential to the campaign.
Lastly, get those Dunedain Ranger units whenever you can. They are very cheap in upkeep but replenish slowly, so it is best to keep that ball rolling as well. You can stage them in your villages, where they can hold a decent number of Orcs or Wildmen of Dunland. The Rangers are excellent warriors both in Raned and melee combat.
Glad to see you return to this and hope you don't get many more crashes. Best of luck!

    • @daanprins8497
      @daanprins8497 6 лет назад

Also, Aragorn's Grey Comany unit is an uber-elite unit, which can crush half an Angmar stack. You don't need 2 units of Rangers as added troops under his banner. Aragorn is set to have amazing movement speed for these missions, but add in more troops and he gets slowed down. Just take a look at the Grey Comapny stats and you'll see what I mean. You won't be threatened by much in these early stage of the game

    @anarionelendili8961 6 лет назад +1

Since you asked for advice, Apollo... Here is a repost on what I posted on your previous videos, including the Update one.
    Forts are your friends
Each fort gives 4 free upkeep slots, which helps a lot in keeping your economy afloat even when recruiting an army. There is one fort at Amon Sul (the actual watchtower, the conceit is that the villagers run there when Ost Sul is attacked, which is why the village uses the same battlemap) that you should use for free upkeep; just remember to bring them back to Ost Sul (village) to defend it when Angmar comes calling! Hirvegil starts in the other fort, between Annuminas (to the west) and Deadman's Dike (to the east).
    Annuminas and Deadman's Dike
Both of these places are very useful to you, if you can grab them. Annuminas is a city, so it will become a big moneymaker for you eventually, while Deadman's Dike is a Fortress. Unfortunately, DD is in ruins, which means it is not anywhere near as defensible as Amon/Ost Sul, and it is the other common target for Angmar. It can easily become a meatgrinder, and the Dunedain actually excel more in skirmish and in attacking the enemy in the small villages between DD and Carn Dum, since the AI tends to huddle at the city square, allowing you to hose them down with arrows all day long. See below for the Rangers...
Your Best Troops (in early game)
The Dunedain Rangers. These guys are MVPs, all of them. They are slightly faster than normal humans so they can more easily chase the enemy down if you are low on cavalry, or just kite the enemy and skirmish them down. They are your best archers other than the Steelbowmen that Halbarad has, and can in a pinch handle themselves in melee. A few units of Rangers and some careful microing can take down a half-stack of orcs with minimal casualties. They are well worth their price and you should recruit them whenever you can.
The Dunedain Wardens are very, very solid infantry, and again you should recruit them when they become available. Don't let your recruiting pools stagnate!
Huntsmen are pretty much the best entry level archers around. They are trash in melee, but as long as you can keep your distance and spend their arrows (and remember that humans are faster than orcs), they will rack a ton of kills, too. Do not use them as infantry, because they will die in melee, unless they are the coup de grace against an already wavering enemy.
Oh, if you see any elven archers or dwarven infantry around as mercs, grab them!
    Your Worst Troops
Cardolani and Rhudaur. They are not utter trash, but at the same time, they cost more money than snagas, too. They can be useful if you need some meatshields to protect your precious rangers and huntsmen, or if you simply need more infantry and your wardens are all recruited. But Cardolani Archers are your worst archers, although they are better in Melee than Huntsmen.
    Armoury +-80
The Armoury is not a typo, but a limitation of the game engine. It assumes that all building income increases the number, so it imposes the + sign in front, and you should read it as -80. What the Armoury does is to give you some garrison troops if the town/castle is assaulted (they do not help if the enemy can just waltz in and occupy), but it reduces the building income (so the +32 you get from the hunting lodge, etc) by 80. Building income cannot go into negative, though. S if you have a hunting lodge, your building income is +32. If you then build the armoury, the building income is 32-80 = -48, but since it cannot be negative, it becomes 0. But if you then build the chicken farming giving you +40, then 72-80 = -8 which is still 0. I hope this helps.
Aragorn's Quest script: (This may have already been explained earlier by someone, but just in case...)
    1) You need to move Aragorn to the REGION that is indicated/mentioned in the text. Otherwise you don't trigger the next step. That is why it triggered (in the first playthrough) while you were still moving towards Bree, since you were already in the Bree region.
    2) The next step is hunting for Gollum in the hills of Rhudaur. That is the region north of Imladris and northeast from Cameth Brin. (Be careful, though. There be trolls in them thar woods. Bringing your spy down to scout the woods would be an excellent idea.) (And you were skirting the border for a couple of turns there, too, but didn't cross over...)
    3) There are a few more steps, but in the end, you will be rewarded with a reforged Narsil/Anduril, and if you bring Aragorn to Dunharrow in Rohan, you get three units of the Army of the Dead, who eat full enemy stacks for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Literally, since after three battles (and I seem to recall it is three battles with ANY unit, so splitting them up doesn't help) their Oath to Isildur ('s Heir) is fulfilled and they vanish. But they can be used to pretty much punch any one faction out of the game, either dealing with Misty or Isengard if you haven't already, or clearing the way to Mordor and taking out Barad-Dur, too. 4) I'd just warn you not to send Aragorn to Dunharrow too early, since you don't want him to get ambushed by the Dunlendings and Isengard, or attacked by the Rohirrim who are getting pissed off at all these scruffy wanderers on their lands.
    Couple of additional thoughts:
Northern Dunedain in the beginning are an archer nation, IMHO. In late game they get more heavy infantry and cavalry, but in early game, your main advantage over Angmar is your archers. Angmar has crap missile units in comparison, but can churn down lots and lots of infantry, and those Orc Fellers have high attack and armor-piercing, but no armor to speak of. So avoid getting into melee with them if you can and instead shoot them full of arrows. If your archers have arrows left at the end of the battle, it had better be that they ran out of enemies to shoot! This goes double for any village assault: just keep your infantry back and run your archers back if the enemy starts coming out. Let them clump in the center and rain hell on them.
Your biggest issue is probably wargs (both melee and skirmishing types), which are the only orc units capable of running down your rangers. So in those battles, you want to keep your wardens in front and refuse your flanks. AI tends to be stupid enough to charge your flank guard wardens head-on, and that is a battle that you will win. Wardens in general will stand up well against any early game Angmar unit, only the Fellers are really a threat, and hopefully they have already been decimated by your arrows.
As with all orc nations, Angmar's Achilles' heel is the lack of morale. If Angmar is sending you small clumps of captained armies, eat those for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is the bigger, over half-banner or even full-banner armies with a good general that will really give you a fight. Angmar relies on numbers and attrition to plow you under, so the best is to whittle them down in smaller clumps with minimal casualties (i.e. arrows) and not get pinned down in villages. It is generally a better idea to NOT defend a village without walls against Angmar, but let them take it, using it as a fly paper. If you are standing in a village, you cannot retreat, forcing you into a slugging match that the orcs have the numbers for and you often don't. Open field battles are better for you, since you can kite and skirmish with the enemy, and potentially achieve local superiority of numbers to crack them unit by unit. Especially if you have cavalry superiority, too.
Speaking of cavalry, do not leave them stuck in melee! No matter what the unit they are fighting against, light cavalry will die, since their defense tends to be low and the hitbox of the horses is larger than that of people. This means each of your cavalrymen is getting hit by multiple infantrymen! Heavy cavalry will do better, but charge-and-retreat-and-repeat is your friend!

You have to go to the region 'Hills of Rhudaur'. Each city/town has it's own region and I think you can see it by right-clicking over the campaign map (edit) and it will pop up which region it is. I believe it's the region above Rivendell and to the north-east of the other town Cameth Brin.
Also another pro tip: you can travel around with generals like Aragon on their own (without other units) and if they get attacked you can flee and if the enemy pursues you just autoresolve. The chance they die is minimal, they usually get away but just lose some bodyguards.

So place the hut to upgrade ASAP and hold off building things until it is done so 2 turns for the first level to actually build the hut and i think seven or so turns for the next level.

26:15 god damn that was a good general edited: you know those generals would be good to have in your settlements. They can increase income more efficiently and increasing tax a tiny bit would help you greatly, and the generals will help you with that for when you increase tax, because they also count as units and lower the negative mood of the settlement.

You should attack with the archers one at a time. When you select them all and attack a single target with them they usually just attack who ever they want.

Also you can only trade with factions you boarder, so instead of getting trade agreements with everyone wait until you get a mission from the council then you will at least get some gold or units

After getting trade rights, you can sell your map information to the other factions for about 200 gold for every region you own, at least that's my rule of thumb it can very between 100 and 300. Also if you build the population buildings as quickly as possible, it will reward you hugely in the late game with lot's of income from taxes.
Lastly the dunedain units are always superior to the cardolan units, especially cardolan archers are not that good though they come in great numbers.
I enjoy your let's play very much and I look forward to the next one!

Hold right click on the ground to see a regions name. Also theres no need to build libraries (culture buildings) in starting and most neighboring settlements because your culture is already very high

DUDE do the Aragorn quest rhudaur region is the region above cameth brin. At the end of it, you get the army of the dead so it’s compeltely worth it. Also, arachir galudirithon has these faction overview series which is sort of a guide into the faction so you can play better and know what to do haha it’s always a good idea to watch it before starting the campaign it explains to you the units, scripts, etc
