Wow! Nice! I played Billy's bass a few times back in 72 and the 1st time was at a Talas rehearsal in Olean, NY. At that time it didn't have the scollops or the wear on it that your fine replica does. I bought a 1970 P-Bass and had it wired with dual outputs with an EB-0 PU near the neck in 72. Our drummer, Rocco Oliverio was a member of Talas that year. Great memories! Thanks for the video!
Amazing job Jon. I remember getting up close to this when you brought it to Nashville 2 years ago and the amount of effort that you have put into this is remarkable.
Wow!!! Spot On dood... It's almost identical to the real one.. Very Impressive indeed.. Billy would even be impressed I'm sure.. They make a Billy Signature "The Wife" bass you can buy but it's very expensive.. It's like 8 grand or something like that.. Anyways . It's Fkn Awesome my Bass Playn Brother... \m/ Respect \m/
Great video man ! Awesome job on that bass ! Quite an accomplishment to do things like that . I'm the same way with the time and $$$ into my classic Datsun 240z , it doesn't matter and it's about the enjoyment . Keep on rockin man !
Thank you for making this video. Question 11: I've always thought that the dot markers on The Wife's neck look larger than is typical. Is that the case? If so, how did you replicate that and why was it done on Billy's original bass? Many thanks.
He’s seen it, played it, used it at a clinic, and told fans to take a picture with it instead of his bass at a Yamaha event. Haha !! He absolutely loves it. And more than once I’ve fooled him by switching them. :)
It's something about a badass musician playing a broken in beater that sounds amazing.

I’m at loss for words at how awesome that replica is! 🔥🔥🔥
Jon allowed me to play this a couple years back. It was very cool

You missed the MOST IMPORTANT question... have you shown Billy the bass and let him play it??????? (Inquiring minds want to know!)
that was my question! :)
Yes he has. Theres a short video ive seen. of billy playing it. And gives him a set of rotosounds.
What tuners are on there?
How does the schecter monstertone pickups compare to the dimarzio model p/willpower/relentless?
Do you soak the strap in Old Spice for super-extra authenticity?
I’ve rubbed the bass down in Old Spice. 100% yes !!
Have you had Billy to see the bass? Wonder what he would say.

Question 11, how does it sound???
That's replica is probably as exact as this EVH Frankenstrat replica: ruclips.net/video/i2mh7zGfFRM/видео.html
Lots more detail in this bass, I guarantee it.
I never knew they were skateboard decals. Is Billy a skater?
No, he was given the stickers to put in the bass to keep the sweat from soaking in.
Wish I could hear what it sounds like !!! Wish you would have plugged it in ..?
