He is so genuine. Telling us all the secrets to the rig like how not every cab is on and how his sound is mainly through the PA systems now. I have been running direct for years and never use a amp or cab live before and its cool that Billy is starting to do that also.

Yeah when you need some volume on stage it’s great but the direct signal makes the FOH happy lol feels better on stage

Great rundown. Billy is such a nice guy. Love seeing his latest and greatest gear, etc. and the rig sounded phenomenal in Austin back in March. To me it was his best live tone so far. Great clarity, and grind. The new system works well, indeed.

Amazing Erik !! I'm really surprised how technology advances and helps the music... I thought I would never see Sheehan sending his line over FOH... and just use the FX Return of the heads .... amazing work of Line 6 !
Yeah, that speaks to how great the Helix is - and how much of a gear head and innovative fellow Billy is! 70 years old and still learning and developing!

That's true, he could continue with his original Pearce BC1 and still used the mic in the cab of highs like he always did.... but no... he decided to continue researching and developing new things for himself and for all of us.... where we love his tone !.. again .. nice job erik ! thx !!

Hey Erik, were you able to know what amp, cab and microphone he is simulating now that he's going DI?
Maybe there are two different stuff, one for each signal.
He’s just adding an EQ-block at the end of the chain to each channel (most likely just a low and high cut) :)

I like Billy Sheehan and it's interesting to hear how he keeps the onstage level down for the FOH engineers sake, because I was at The Winery Dogs gig in Glasgow a couple of weeks ago and the FOH was pretty awful. It wasn't particularly loud, just mushy and unclear with indistinct vocals. I'm sure it sounded epic in their IEMs. They need to have a chat with their FOH engineer, I think he may be deaf.
In Stockholm the FOH sound was AMAZING! Best sound I’ve heard at that venue tbh 😳 Drums were clear and not boomy at all - and the vocals were loud and clear! Maybe it was the PA in Glasgow?

wait I'm a little confused... so does his both output from bass goes into single helix? I thought helix only had one guitar in channel
Nope, that’s on the LT (on which you’ll have to use one of the FX Returns) the Helix floor has an AUX-input that you can use as well :)

@@erikarko Don't sweat it, Erik. I'd be nervous too if Billy were talking to me. You did great: personable and open, clearly keeping the communication going. If you start overthinking things ("Am I 'yesing' everything?" "Am I saying, 'Exactly' too much?") you'll torpedo yourself. Which it say, you did wonderfully. The proof is in the pudding, and your pudding ended up a thick and creamy, low-frequency masterpiece of revelatory bass-gear insight!
