Barry's Magic Crystal Ball

- Halloween decor made with a tv, glass bowl, Leota DVD, play snakes, and some fabric. This craft will give your ghoulish guests a realistic spooky display of a head speaking in a crystal ball.

There are SO many damn complicated ways to do this online and this is the simplest, easiest, cheapest and really effective! Depending on how you decorate and disguise the base, people were clueless how I made it work! THANK YOU it made the party! Everyone was talking about my magic ball and the creepy lady LOL

The glass jar could double as a wine glass later, just the right size! You are so creative! I wish you lived an hour or so closer, I'd love to pal around w/you one day, I could learn a LOT! You truly are gifted, you never cease to amaze me!
This is a SUPER nest way to do this on the cheap!
first time I've seen this done as a pepper's ghost....Hats off to you for a most clever creation. All the ones I've seen and done myself are projected onto a styro head. great thinking out of the box.

AWESOME TRICK, LOVE IT! I have an old laptop and a good set of speakers I will use instead, this way the image is easy to download and easy to change, also easy to set the player on repeat. thanks!

Ha! I bought one of those scary clown DVDs to do this a few years back, but that was back before flat screens I think, & it seemed too difficult to set up, & was done with a black box & fabric, not the oversized brandy snifter. This seems much easier with a better effect. Very creative of you! Thanks!

Very Cool... i'll make 2 change ideas though... what about round plastic inside it so you cannot see those points from the square piece, also the handle on glass looks off, what about a perfectly big round fish bowl or something more round, or a gemmy plastic spirit ball top that would be even better, plus maybe make the tv brightness glowing more so she is more defined.....
I've seen people doing this with phones and tablets now too. Projectors too if you wanna spend the cash. Of course if you found a cheap tv that would do it you may as well..

Barry, I unfortunately did not look at comments until just now and am having a hard time finding a link to the dvd loop and just saw the one that expired on the 15th. Do you know of any others? And by the way, this is going to make my haunted mansion party a hit!!!

Thank you... the I have found the simplest things are always much more... If you were to walk in front of the one at Disney, the hologram would project on your shirt. This one is stationary.. lol
Hi Barry, I tried the plastic in the bowl and I liked it but it only reflected on the size of the plastic which was a small image. use hologram film sheet and place it into the bowl instead and the whole bowl lit up with her face!!

question I noticed they have these effects on atmosfx.com/collections/atmosfearfx ... more specifically the singing pumpkins... if you have a projector could projecting the madame Leota video on to a white crystal ball prop work like they do with the signing pumpkins?

You would have to create a video file in iMovie, then set it to repeat.... You can download the video file by highlighting the url from a madame leota video on youtube... there is one that comes up first when you search.
and go to file wiggler dot com and follow the instructions, then choose to save the file as a MP4 or Quicktime then presto... you could even add special effects and create your own by video taping yourself or someone else.. that would be cool!
