    Tip i learned from why u attempt the effect awhile back is to remove the mouths. A flat surface there will take your already amazing bust to the next level with the projections

    Nice job. I remember seeing this as a little boy at Disneyland in the late 60s. Special effects, CGI etc were not common things back then so it seemed pretty magical. Even as a boy I knew it was done with technology but that and other aspects of the haunted mansion had "how did they do that?" aspects.

    Fantastic video! Thank you for posting! Can you advise approximately how far you placed your projector from the busts?

    • @wdwathome6252
      @wdwathome6252  Год назад +1

      That really depends on the projector you’re using. Mine is about six feet away, but the distance really depends on the throw ratio of your projector. You’ll definitely want to find one with a shorter throw ratio so that you can minimize the distance between the projector and the busts, though that depends entirely on preference, and whether you want the projector near or far.

    • @wdwathome6252

      I just based the bust size around the 11” styrofoam heads, using pictures from the ride for body reference. The finished products are definitely not as large as the actual ones from the parks, so I sculpted the bodies in proportion to the heads I had.

    • @wdwathome6252
      @wdwathome6252  2 года назад +1

      @@austinhenning6271 I didn’t notice too much of a problem once it was dark out and the projector was on. I imagine that the lighting and projector strength are important factors. From the side, the projection can be slightly distorted by the mouth, but not by much. Although I considered smoothing the front, I figured that leaving the face structure would help the busts look realistic during the day (hence why I also chose to spray paint them).

    followed your great instructions only to find out the projection file does NOT line up with the broken bust. The broken bust is higher than the completed figure. Frustrating trying to get the 5th aligned to the other four. Tried another projecton file. Still no joy. The effort continues.

    • @wdwathome6252
      @wdwathome6252  11 месяцев назад +2

      As noted in the video, the file was designed specifically for my build, and may need to be altered slightly to fit your designs. It also took me a while to get the fifth aligned with the rest, as it would require a projector with a particular throw ratio. If you’d like, feel free to email me the picture of your busts, and I can try adjusting the image for you. I’ve also found that if you angle the two busts on the sides to face slightly inward, that helps a ton. Sorry for any inconvenience with the projection!
