The idea that Messi couldn't do it in the Premier league is total and utter nonsense. He has scored 26 goals against PL opposition in the champions league including humiliating the very best the premiership has to offer. We are supposed to believe that he couldn't do it against Stoke because it's raining 😆 😂
@@Gamer-do7qv that's a ridiculous comment. The best players play in the best teams. What evidence do you have that he couldn't score a ton of goals for Everton?
I don't take England fans serious because they are the only fans that sing "It's coming Home months before any tournament and end up getting humiliated.
Ronaldo will always be my favorite player but Messi is on another level,he's in a league of his own, definitely the Goat and deserved this world cup win
Messi has always been a superior footballer to Ronaldo. Both are incredible goalscorers, yet Messi's passing, vision and ability as a dribbler are on another level. The fact he's still showing that on the biggest stage of all at 35 just underlines further why he's the greatest. CR at his peak was of course far more than just a goalscorer, yet he's been dependent on the service of teammates over the last five years. Not to mention, he's never had a standout world cup; and has failed to even score or assist a single world cup knockout goal. The argument also that Messi needs to do it in the PL is utterly ridiculous. This is someone who has shown it against all the best club teams in the CL and at international level. Also, many of the greatest ever players never played in England. That goes for Maradona, Pele, Cruyff, R9, Ronaldinho, Zidane, Iniesta, Xavi, Rivaldo and countless others. Anyone who has any understanding of the game knows Messi has nothing to prove.
@Batman with prep did you even watch the World Cup kid? Most of his goals were legit penalty or not doesn’t deny the fact that Messi is getting better as he gets older and won the World Cup Ronaldo couldn’t even score against South Korea or Morocco!! Go back to playing your video games mate
Ronaldo hasn’t been relying on service for 5 years at all. Did you even watch him at juve? Legit just two years ago when he was at juve he was performing on a similar level to what Messi is now. Ronaldo was more of a left forward for juve and was still skinning people and bagging crazy goals. He scored that goal coming over his head on the volley. Insane technique. Ronaldo has fell off this season but I think it’s more personal issues made his ability diminish more and then his mentality broken because of his ability finally falling off.
@Batman with prep So what are you trying to say, I know that you Penaldo fans are so desperate that you even want him to be given a goal he doesn't deserve.
Playing in England isn't the absolute final judgement of a player, wtf man, English football fans are a joke. If you take all Messi and CR7's trophies, stats and accolades away, just looking at them as footballers, how can someone say CR7 is a better Footballer?
exactly. ronaldo is an amazing goalscorer. but if u take that away from him he's totally useless as he doesn't deffend either. but messi can still help u with his dribbling and his amzing passing and playmaking. everyone know messi is better but they hate to admit it coz they hate messi
Messi was always a better player anyway….but the English premier league is known as the toughest league in club football generally. Managers who have managed in several of them all say the same thing.
This “Ronaldo did it in the Prem” argument is just a way of establishing conditions that favour Ronaldo cos they don’t want to talk about their actual FOOTBALLING ABILITY on the pitch. La Liga was the best itw for large portions of Messis career anyway, and when Ronaldo came to his league he won just TWO league titles in 9 years.
For the majority of Messi and ronaldos career La Liga was a far better league than the premier league. It’s only last handful where the prem has overtaken
And Messi has 17 goals in 16 games against English clubs in the CL. He's destroyed the best English clubs in the past. But he's never done it against Stoke on a wet Tuesday night so he's not great.
Talk about 'establishing conditions that favour your argument'. For the most part of their time in La Liga together, Barca had one arguably the best club team ever assembled. So is it any surprise they won more titles?
Mbappe has never played in the premier league but he's 100% better than any forward currently playing in the EPL. EPL fans act like it's some sort of validation for greatness, how many of the all time greats have actually played in the premier league?
9 of the top 10 greatest players of all time haven't played in england. That includes messi, pele, maradona, ronaldo nazario, zidane, platini, cryuff, backenbauer, maldini. The only one who makes this list is ronaldo but ronaldo's legacy was made at real madrid and not at utd.
I think they way Messi and this Argentina team have combined has absolutely clarified that he could have played in any league & any team and been amazing in it
@@awilliekevinpaul3168 put Messi in any hard working team, who know their roles, they will win, because he will produce the magic... Idk why people are even bothered. The debate is over. It’s been over for years. But its definitely over now. Ronaldo fans have nothing to use as ammunition. Messi has won it all.
Being a witness in this world cup just proves how hated Ronaldo is and how they let messi slide with a hand ball but couldn't let ronaldo slide for a simple "ssssh" gesture towards the japanese player. The "he never left Spain" argument is such a dead one. Are people really suggesting Messi won't smash any league in the world? LOL. Go away. Let's be real anyway, the argument that Spain is a two or three team league doesn't greatly hold up given Sevilla & Villarreal's Europa successes. Messi has done it against every one of the PL sides that he's played against in the UCL, 27 goals in 35 games & these are only the elite sides from the PL. Give it a rest with that dead argument.
Ronaldo fans are clinging on to 'messi has never played in the premier league'. Messi is a better goalscorer than than aguero, better dribbler than hazard and a better playmaker than David Silva. All 3 are PL legends, and they think Messi would struggle in the premier league
"Must be a World Cup Winner to be in the GOAT conversation". According to the media haters who thought Messi was going home after the Saudi Arabia defeat. Ronaldo needs to find a club that will have him and try again 4 years from now, age 41.
The only reason there was ever some debate is because of champions leagues, goal tallies and ballon d’or wins being similar (which all makes CR7 truly amazing too)….you can’t have actually watched their careers properly, watched them play properly, and believe Ronaldo could actually do what Messi could as a player overall
@@footballlover8055 What does Ronaldo do better than Messi? I'm sure all you can mention are attributes that have to do with goal-scoring and Messi still has a better goal-to-game ratio and is not far off in total goals. Now let's talk about playmaking, passing, dribbling, leadership, etc.

People keep saying Messi can't do in the premier league but actually he's got more goals against the top 6 than Wayne rooney, Alan shearer, Harry Kane, and all of the premier league legends except Sergio Aguero so that's the only player who's got more goals than him against the top 6 and he's not even played the hardest league in the world
I couldn't say if he's the best sportsman ever but if you look through the lens of do they inspire others and play their sport in the best spirit of sportsmanship. Every match I have ever seen him play in, he has played with a positive attitude and usually with a smile on his face, he gets kicked up and down the pitch but never throws a strop, he tracks back to help his team and always looks for the best option pass or shoot. Messi is definitely the greatest footballer I've ever seen and it is just his phenomenal talent. Greatest sports person who knows but every time Messi has left opposition players chasing shadows a smile comes to my face even when he did it against Liverpool.

Federer greatest sportsman of all time. He changed tennis and ushered a generation of amazing tennis never seem before. But off court what a person. Not to mention Djok is far more dominant across all 4 slams and will not only end with the most, but might even overtake Fed on the one slam he’s dominant on, Wimbledon. Djok’s peak was more dominant, superior head to head against both Fed and Rafa, but Federer’s play style looks more elegant. That’s about it.
Years ago possibly but I think he'd be the one passing to the big viking fella if he went there now. I'd like to see him at City if he leaves PSG. A couple of years too early to be thinking about the rumoured MLS move.
@@monkey39128 There was a moment he could have come to Man City when leaving Barca. If Pep was somehow able to bring Messi into Man City next summer (which is very unlikely and just a fans dream), imagine the damage Messi would cause to every team Man City play against? Messi doesn't even need to come to the Premier League, but this would be the best way to shut up all the haters who think the premier league is the only form of football.
Both brilliant players and been a joy to watch them both play in my life time, and up until two years ago you could argue a case for both but there isn't a debate now Messi is better in my opinion , Messi in his old age adapted to the game where Ronaldo hasn't , players still look for Messi when he's on the pitch as they no he has a moment of magic in him where as United and Portugal both play better without him on the pitch now
Ronaldo's a goal freak, Messi's a magician. He could have no goals and he'd still be better than Ronaldo. Who's better - Iniesta or Lampard? I love Frank, and his goal record pisses all over Iniesta's, but no one in their right mind would say he was a better footballer than Iniesta The same applies here, except the irony is Messi's statistically STILL better than Ronaldo too, he's a one off.

It's disingenuous to say Ronaldo greatness is affected by how he carries himself and by doing that interview. I would like to know if maradona or tigre woods greatness were affected by how they carried themselves. We forget that these exceptional athletes are flawed just like the rest of us.
It's true that Messi can do some stuff that Ronaldo doesn't do as well. And it's also true that Ronaldo can do certain things that Messi doesn't do as well. Like how to score goals with one's hair. Or assist a goal with his back. Or how to be a captain while sitting on the bench, from the beginning of the match. They're both great players, but one is constantly compared to Madonna and Pele and that one happens to have 1 more World Cup than the other.
Messi has always killed it the champions league and that is a higher quality competition than the world Cup, so he's already proved himself now everywhere, and including the CL (which, in terms of quality, is as good as it gets).

In terms of Ronaldo vs Messi, I will quote this: With Ronaldo, people stop and stare and say WOW With Messi, people stop and stare and say HOW Both have been awesome, but one of them shines that little bit brighter.
@Natwarittha Paliyanan The biggest competition doesn't mean it's the best. International teams are restricted by what players they can select. Club teams have huge amounts of money to form 'super teams'. A last four of Champions League would, at the very least, equal (and probably better) an international last four (semi-final). Euro 2004. Who won it? Greece lol 😆 Sure, they played absolutely brilliantly and deserved to win it, but come on. Look at the teams that you play in the World Cup. Saudi Arabia. USA. Sweden. Iran. Basically, the top ten international sides are the teams with real quality all over the park. But you can say that the top ten champions league teams are at least of equal quality, and, IMO, better. Real Madrid versus Brazil. Who'd win that? I'd make Madrid favourites. Everyday. Outside of Europe, where do all the great players come from? South America? Yeah, they all play in Europe. In teams that compete for (you guessed it, the Champions League). All the best players in the world play in Europe. Because that's where the money quality and credibility is. You get the odd talented Brazilian player who still plays in the Brazilian league (but not many of them), and after that World Cup, they get signed by Real Madrid. To play in the Champions League.

Football fans have short memory. It was just last season Messi only had 4 league goals after his debut season in a league that isn’t even top 5. Ronaldo won an international trophy for his country before Messi. The Euros is also played every 4 years so it’s as hard as the World Cup unlike the Copa that’s every 2 years. Ronaldo is older and Ronaldo was phenomenal at 35. We all agree he’s had a bad year or couple of months but where was this talk of the debate being over last year or even after Ronaldo won the nations league and Barcelona were struggling. Messi is great but if people view as this godly talent then why is he still neck and neck with Ronaldo in terms of achievement and statistics with Ronaldo. If a hardworking man has achieved just as much as the one who is seen as an alien then Messi has underachieved
The 'more goals' argument for Ronaldo needs context. To date: Messi App: 1003, goals 793 (mins per goal =104), Ronaldo App: 1145, goals 819 (mins per goal 113). Assist stats are not even worth comparing.

You intentionally leave out who Messi has played with or plays with so when you say he a better passer, I say it's not about passing the ball but the players that receive the ball that make the difference. When you say Messi can score headers really makes me have a laugh In his career to date I think he's only scored 24 headers you can say every once in awhile any player will have his moment, now let's compare that to Ronaldo's 111 header goals. Dribbling I give that point to Messi but's that the only point that I will concede to Messi because everyone knows that it much easier for him due to his low center of gravity but don't say Ronaldo can't do it because last season he was still having the defensive players falling onto there ass by dribbling pass them at 37. In all aspects either being physical shape or mental shape Messi still has a long way to go but if you wants him test his metal then ask him to switch to the premiere league I doubt very much for a player that walks more than 85% of a match would stand any kind of chance what so ever of doing anything unless you place him playing once again with some world class players like a Holland etc..
Ronaldo is better at heading the ball because of his height the same reason Messi is better at dribbling because of his height. During Messi's peak years, la liga was the best league in the world which is why Ronaldo upgraded to la liga after leaving man utd at his peak. Crazy to think Messi won a world cup by just walking! He's that good! Imagine if he ran...
@@xillo7254 Hieght yes for some part might have been a factor but the amount and his age is what make's all about technique in heading & while you think that Messi won it , I on the other hand think that it was given to him on A silver plater like the 7 penalties due to bad officiating . So if you take those away yes it bad for a man that walks😝🥂👌
Darren Bent is he really serious about Messi as a great header of the football 😂, know ur game Darren. Messi is basically just one foot player while Cristiano has scored lots of left footed goals n some crackers too. Messi sure is better in ball control n dribbling the rest none, all due respect to Messi I ain't a hater but a lover of Cristiano ♥️
The Messi and Ronaldo Debate is over. Messi Won the Worldcup and will get his 8th Ballon D'ior Soon. Why are people still going on about this? MESSI IS THE GOAT :-) LIVE WITH IT.
Enough of this MESSI exaggeration of praise: after all, in d crucial matches it wasn’t Messi who dragged Argentina over d line, rather it was Martinez the goalkeeper who dragged them over d line. If Loris had been as good as d Argentina goalkeeper in penalty shootout, we’ll be singing France & Mbape’s song right now. As for RONALDO being dragged into this argument as being better than Messi, that’s a complete joke! What did he achieve for himself at this Qatar fifa WC 2022, when he needed it most to get a champion’s League to join. His pride got d better of him & his Portugal manager dropped him. And to make matters worse, d team played better without him. He is not better than Messi, perhaps he used to be but not now.

being the best in the biggest sport in the world where every player can play no matter your physical attributes definitely cements you as the most talented and greatest sportsman of all time. basketballers only compete with the 1% of the 1% pool of players with freakish heights. american footballers all have to be tall and genetically built and the focus is more on how big you can get vs the talent. the fact that the 3 greatest footballers include maradona, messi and pele who have to compete with genetically gifted players like ronaldo, zlatan etc speaks volumes about the greatness of messi and the importance of actual ability in the the sport.
This caller is a numpty Messi showed on the biggest stage in world football how good he is by pretty much single handedly winning the World Cup for his country. Ronaldo could never and will NEVER win it in his career. The REAL goat.

Huge Messi fan but I really would like to see Christiano Ronaldo play at the next World Cup and win it.
nah, absolutely don't want it. eh.
Don’t pretend you are a penaldo fan
@Commie Slayer I always put Messi over ronaldo even though there were some things Christian was slightly better than Messi. I really liked the ronaldo interview he had with the one English dude. As much as I like futbol this game doesn’t alter or change my personal life, I could’ve cared less if Messi won a cup or mbappe did. Those guys are living their dream life and im still working on mine.
Im not a fan girl of anything, just an observer.
Why English fans think that EPL is the only league in the world where player has to play to prove himself 😂😂 Ronaldo haven't won world cup and Messi has end of debate
When people mention Ronaldo scoring more goals... They do realise he's 2 years old right? That means he's had alot more time to score said goals..... He's always taken penalties, Messi hasn't. I remember Messi taking a penalty and instead of shooting he passed it to his side for Suarez to score. It's all about the team for Messi, it's all about Ronaldo to Ronaldo
@Batman with prep you are joking right? Where do you think messi played? When he had players like Ibrahimovic, Etoo, Villa, Henry? 🤣🤣🤣 ronaldo has played a striker role a lot more than Messi. How old are you?
@Batman with prep actually by your other comments, can definitely tell youre young. Call me a 'pessi tard' yet Ronaldo has scored loads more penalties 🤣 have a good night, love from pessi tard x

Ronaldo IMO is the best finisher, but messi is the best overall player to play the modern game.
Is he? Messi has a better goal to game ratio with far less shots as well
I don't think CR7 is a better finisher at all, i guarantee Messi's goal to shot ratio is much better. CR7 was fantastic though and on top of that imagine if Messi was better with his head and right foot but stilll he is so close to CR7 in goals!!
Messi is a better finisher, passer. In most categories messi comes out on top. Messi has better goals to game ratio, hes even a better free kick taker. Only areas where Ronaldo is better is hes better with heading. As we see in the final it didn't matter that messi cannot head
R9 real Ronaldo pre injury was lights year clear versus CR7 in pure finishing. CR7 not in top 5 greatest footballers.
Messi is the best finisher ever too. It is very very rare you won’t see him not hit the target at least, absolute clinician. Whereas Ronaldo just goes for power and you see where his free kicks end up. At the wall or 30m over the bar.

Ronaldo is the 2nd best player of the past 15 yrs! Its just been that way since Messi burst onto the scene! Messi scored so many goals while also creating so many for others, Ronaldo was not doing that, he left that kind of play many many yrs ago, which is when he became just a slightly above avg striker thats it, he didn't even dribble at one point or take any chances to go past players it was dreadful! Benzema and Lewa, Haaland are better strikers!
The man is free to have his opinion. They leave different legacies and can exist in the same space. Messi made football look effortless, Ronaldo made the impossible look possible.
All this nonsense of 12 year olds saying Ronaldo is "just a goalscorer" is peak ignorance. The man is #2 all-time in career assists behind Messi and he never took corners or lateral free kicks because he was more valuable as an aerial threat, but yeah "just a goalscorer" :D
True,Ronaldo change so many times the outcome of games, see Juventus vs Atletico Madrid 3-0,just one of many cases.
Messi never changed the outcome of games, that's why he'll never the goat of the football fans,he'll always be the goat of the media.

Ali was the greatest sportsperson ever
Disagree. You can't say someone from one sport is the best, given they wouldn't be able to show that in another sport.
Ali wasn’t even the best in his own sport
@@omerta_ita true
Ali transcended boxing. He was phenomenon with everything he touched. He used his boxing status to fight for civil rights and help the underprivileged more than any other sportsperson. And he paid a huge price without shrinking. He stood tall. In a nutshell, Ali was the real GOAT.
The conversation should be Prime Messi or Prime R9.
Has ronaldo found a club yet?
No
He'd do a decent job at wing back FC aka Chelsea.
I’m with Darren when he said Ali. There’s something almost mythical about him. When you say Ali, everyone knows, even those that have never watched the sport.
Ali was a great person but for the things he did outside of the ring which is a beautiful thing. If we're talking purely sport it's messi all day. It's not messi's fault that he's not a witty black man speaking absolute fire on political and global problems 😆

Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo was never an argument. Messi is the best ever even before world cup started
