Professional Driveway Sealcoating #37 "Marathon”
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 1 июн 2024
- It was probably 110+ degrees on this driveway. This driveway was pressure washed a few days prior to us sealing it. The homeowner was a great guy and this job turned out perfect. Let me know in the comment s what you think and if you have any questions, leave them below. I apologize for the heavy breathing. It’s not the sealing that beats me, its the running around and setting up the cameras that gets me.

The product we are using: ***Asphalt Emulsion***
What is an asphalt emulsion?
Asphalt emulsion is a combination of three basic ingredients, asphalt, water, and small amount of an emulsifying agent. In the same process, these components are introduced into a mechanism known as a colloid mill, which shears the asphalt into tiny droplets. The emulsifier, which is a surface-active agent, keeps the asphalt droplets in a stable suspension and controls the breaking time. The result is a liquid product with a consistency ranging from that of milk to heavy cream, which can be used in cold processes for road construction and maintenance.
Why use asphalt emulsions?
Asphalt emulsion does not require a petroleum solvent to make it liquid and in most cases asphalt emulsions can be used without additional heat. Both of these factors contribute to energy savings. Additionally, asphalt emulsions offer great flexibility in their application since they offer the end-user a great variety of characteristics not found in other paving and maintenance materials. Asphalt emulsions are environmentally friendly. There are little or no hydrocarbon emissions created with their use.

What is SEALCOATING and why should I do it?
1. Sealcoating protects and prolongs the life expectancy of asphalt pavement by filling surface damage and providing a protective layer to keep out damaging UV rays, vehicle fluids, and water.
2. The low cost of regular sealcoating can save you money in the long run. A properly maintained and sealed asphalt surface has an extended lifetime and reduces long-term repair costs.
3. With exposure to the elements, asphalt pavement over time becomes faded in appearance. A fresh sealcoat application enhances the appearance of asphalt, making it look and wear like new.
4. Sealcoating is typically done using one of two application methods: spray or squeegee/brush.
5. Sealcoating accelerates the melting process of snow and ice on pavement surfaces. This helps to protect against water penetration, rain, frost and snow damage.
6. To correctly complete the sealcoating process, the air and pavement temperature is recommended to be at least 55 degrees Fahrenheit for the duration of the application and for eight hours following the application.
7. Prior to pavement sealing, the asphalt surface should be cleared of all dirt and debris. In addition, minor repairs, like potholes and cracks, should be filled and vehicle fluids, like oil, should be properly removed.

Hearing your breathing let's me know it is not as easy as it looks. Bless you both on all the hard work you put into every job!!
It's pretty easy work
It the running around setting up the camera that kills me. Also, having to keep my head from moving too much (because of the head cam) is draining as well.

Awesome! Thank you!
I just did my driveway and my driveway was no where as large as that one . My driveway was 50 feet long twenty feet wide . I couldn't use a squeegee because I had a lot of dips and it was puddling and I could not squeegee the excess out.... I ended up using a really heavy nap roller and that worked great ..... after I got done my driveway and stood back... it looked great ...I said to myself... never again ..... then I promptly did my neighbors driveway the following week ... go figure... by then I had the technique down .
Watching you guys work from southwestern Wisconsin! Great video, Gregory - it's always a treat to see a new one. 😊

Have you ever had any sealcoating disasters where you've end up with sealcoat on something you shouldn't?
It seems like it could be easy to get distracted with edging and forget the hose is still running.
If you catch it fast enough with water comes right off
Syracuse, NY
MN
NJ here. Are there different qualities of sealer out there for the professional? I know and have used the big box stores “highest rated” sealer.
Thats the big debate. Most of the sealing companies are using AE (asphalt emulsion), bought at the wholesaler. This is what we're using. I think prep-work and application method are just as important as the product being used.
✌️
почему вы не используете цветные добавки в покрытие?
How many gallons did it take you guys to do this big driveway? Love these videos, keep them coming plz!!
This one took a lot. Not sure of the exact amount. Unsealed asphalt can take sometimes 3x the amount as a sealed driveway.
What is the consistency of the coating (thickness etc.) like and does it take a bunch of effort to push around? I’m assuming it comes out hot then gets thicker as it cools….?
Consistency can vary by what month were working in. This driveway has never been sealed and was pressure-washed before we came out. We're pushing firm brushes, so driveways like these are the most difficult to seal (physically). The transitions though, are the best!.
Hi there. I was just thinking...isnt it faster if you had to spray the middle sections of larger surfaces and then you cover the terrain faster and then do the sides and near buildings and walls your conventional way of ruuning out the liquid

Is that just a pump driven spray wand without a pressure tip on it on the lowest pressure setting so it for slowly?
Yes.
Where do you go to buy large quantities of seal coating? I’d like to get into the business so I’m trying to learn about suppliers
You can find a local wholesaler or have it shipped directly to you.
What percent water are you using in the summer heat?
email me
Do you ever pressure wash or can you get them clean enough with a broom?
This driveway was pressure washed before we sealed it (by the homeowner). It all depends on the clients budget. We try to wire-brush any heavy dirts spots on the driveway. Brushing the sealer in adds to better adhesion too.
How early can u start in the morning?
Mon-Sat 7am, Sunday 8am
How do you know what type of sealcoating to use? Acrylic Oil etc.
Theres really only 2 types of sealer that companies are using here in PA; COAL TAR or ASPHALT EMULSION.
Watching from Scotland.
What is the product you are putting down? Is it tar or resin or ???
Check the video description.
@@SEALCOATINGISLIFE ah, I see. Thank you. I've not seen this done in the UK, I don't think it's used here and found it very interesting.
