@许华-e6u true, but it wasn't around China's coast. US tactics would be much different in that case, as would China's. In 2027 it could possibly be B2 Spirits targeting ground assets in mainland China. The US also has bases in S. Korea, Japan, and Guam to help coordinate strikes closer to China. Regardless, this was meant as a simulation in neutral waters.
@Grimreapers - Thank you for another great video Cap! I hope you are doing and feeling better. Would you redo this battle? It isn't bad at all, I just think the approach and the order in which weapons are deployed in sequence for the blue side's attack could be made more realistic - not that DCS is realistic anyways. 😅 U.S. carriers still carry a decent amount of Harpoon missiles onboard. They are old missiles, but when combined and launched in sequence with MALDs they could be effective at burning up the defending side's SAM numbers, especially if used in decent numbers. For a redo, I would recommend having a first wave of F/A-18s launching Harpoons and MALDs followed up by a second wave of F/A-18s launching LRASMs and then Makos. F-35C's would be sent out shortly after the first of F/A-18s depart and before the second wave of F/A-18s departs. I'm not sure how many waves you can build into your battle scenario without crashing your server, but it is worth trying.
From what I've gathered, the Harpoon will be replaced with NSM's/LARASMS/Anti Ship tomahawks. I believe in a true fight the f35's would likely be the ones carrying the MAKOS over the f18. Due to the fact that they could launch the missiles and then preform target designation for the f18's serving as missile trucks with AM260's. I could be wrong in this thinking, perhaps it'd be more of a mix across the board. But I do believe the offensive abilities of US carrier groups and their aircraft have truly reached if not surprised what Russian and Chinese groups can offer.
Cap, love the channel. If you’re looking for more content maybe look into reading some of the tipping point books? It’s very Chinese /USA centric scenario with multiple set ups that could possibly happen in real life. Thought of you guys as I was reading the books. Some examples: two Arleigh Burke’s doing a fonop near the South China Sea and getting accidentally fired upon by shore based missile’s, type 55 Chinese destroyers trying to protect a fleet of transports from air strikes (land based aircraft and shore based missile launches ) while they cross the channel. Keep up the good work!

@@Iamabot4708 In my mind "informative" means that it gives you a good idea but is not authoritative. While I do love the Mako, I feel like the Navy wouldn't kick out thr LRASM so early, I would think in 2027, its more likely the USN would use both LRASM and Mako in conjunction, which if a strike was timed properly, would be incredibly deadly. Would love to see this battle redone, but with LRASM's included, great battle though Cap, hope your health gets better and
I love how these guys portray these air battles as realistic. the fact is that the DCS platform is Russian made, so of course they are going to make American planes seem vulnerable.
Fun to watch as always. US should have PAC3 by this time which will add a huge advantage for the number of missiles carried. Also the NSM which will still subsonic is low flying and stealthy so the enemy won’t see it coming. I think these would leverage a big advantage to the US. Not to mention things that the sim can’t take into account like more real world experience and better crew training.
Love the videos bro. 3 things I’m super curious about. 1) I’m curious as to when naval guns will be phased out. It seems that the main roles for DDGs and similar (FFGs and CGs) type naval vessels are maritime strike, cruise missile attack and surface warfare group air defense. I’m no expert but the name of the game appears to be missile volume. I would think that trading in the naval artillery gun for more missile capacity would be the way to go. If you could perhaps create a sim with that scenario (i.e. increase the number of missiles) that would be pretty interesting. 2) I’m quite interested how the scenario would play out in terms of reliability of equipment. I’ve read that the new PLAN carriers have the new electromagnetic catapults. I’m curious how they will hold up to repeated launches. 3) I’ve noticed the J-35 has 2 engines opposed to the F-35 single engine. When it comes to military equipment maintenance is a huge factor. In the stealth realm of this battle I’m curious how much greater a 5th gen having 2 engines will compare to a 5th gen with only 1. Combat aside you have to expect some aircraft will be not airworthy due to maintenance but if a fighter has 2 engines it can still launch into combat albeit in a degraded performance state compared to a single engine fighter who would be grounded given any engine problems. Sorry for the essay man, just my random thoughts.
Good content, but the veteran Chinese wouldn’t be so veteran due to their known lack of training comparing to other countries and specially with the amount of constant training and actual deployments. This is coming from a current sailor in the US navy 2003 till today 20+years in

I think the ship class may launch then, but I don't think it'll complete sea trials and be pressed into service until after 2027, so only good ol flight III burkies. I have more of a gripe with the j35a cross section but that's just me 😅
What the Chinese say their weapons can do and what they can actually do are 2 different things. The dcs can only go off what the Chinese say on paper. If this was a real battle, the Chinese would be considerably worse off in real life compared to the claims and assertions about their weapons on they make on paper.
Hey Cap! The USN is planning to retrofit all of their Burkes with RAM launchers instead of the Phalanx (or maybe retain the phalanx and add the RAM? I forgot). Older ships with incompatible radars will get the SeaRam with 11 missiles while the newer ones will get the 21-cell launchers. These will certainly help alot against supersonic cruise missiles. Oh and why were only 31 Mako missiles fired when there were 36 anti ship hornets each with 4 missiles? Or maybe Im missing something? Thanks!
I think the few Makos snuck through because of the aircraft taking off and there were only a couple of missiles rather than a massive amount. I do wonder why MSTs do a popup to attack ships?
So I just noticed that the F/A-18 was carrying the SM-6/AIM-174 missile during RIMPAC, and may have used it in testing as a Anti-Ship Missile to use on the ship they sunk during the exercise. I hear it's normal Naval Defense Range as a SM-6 is 240 Miles which is huge, but imagine what it is with a Jet at Mach 1.3 at 35,000 feet. I bet it come close to 300 miles in either Anti-Ship or Air-to-Air! That's a awesome development! And I wonder if they took these little things and try them cause of the Data NCIS took from you and I am sure lots of other people. DCS, and you guys that have just DCS YT channels have probably Improved the NAVY and Air Force more than we could think and will ever know. If they did take it from your data, cause I do remember a video a ways back that you did, with I think the Hornet carrying the AIM-174/SM-6. Not sure if it was prior to them taking your data or after. But either way, I think the people that do Improve the Navy or any branch of the military from your data, should get Credit at least for it. At least a plaque or something!!!! This was my 2nd time watching it cause it has a lot of different things going on in this mission, like the Tomahawk Anti-Ship missile and the New Mako. And I noticed even more than I already knew, but China copies everyone's Military equipment. Like the F-35, the HHQ air defense missiles are copied from the S-300/400 Systems. I wonder if China is rethinking the systems, although they didn't do the exact same thing, so they are probably better. Cause I think China's Tech is way better than Russia's. We know from the War with Russia, that their Space System and Satellites are absolutely Useless. And they have to get their Satellite Photos from China. And that is Putin's downfall! Cause China owns him now, and after this war ends Russia will be at its weakest, and I bet China will go after the Territory Russia took back in the day, what the 19th Century or early 20th century. I actually am really starting to think XII will not go after Taiwan cause they know they will lose and their economy will hit Rock Bottom. But if they go after their Territory Russia stole, the World really will not care and all Chinese Sanctions would be lifted and if they want Territory, well they have a rightful claim to take their Territory back. Cause if you think about it, Taiwan would end up destroyed and be absolutely useless for 25-50 years after. Which means nothing to XII cause he'd be dead by then. But Thank You GR for your Great Videos, they really give people like me a lot of Information & Intel on everyone's system! I understand it is a game/simulation so nothing is exact, but I think you have the best channel for being the closest to exact in real life. Thanks CAP & TEAM GR!!! And Thanks as well CH!!!
I hear what you are saying about the amount of Squadrons on a Carrier. Their have been 4 Attack Capable Squadrons on Nimitz-Class Carriers for years. And I believe there are 5 on a Ford-Class.
See, the thing with the Tomahawks is that the battle is over, Chinese Maverick is celebrating on the deck of the Chinese carrier, and suddenly they get hit by a dozen Tomahawks. "Oh, shit, we forgot about them..."
Some article I read a while back says that the US's pov is that the only real reliable answer to those hyper sonic missiles is laser based defenses. I think the first real use of lasers in warfare will be missile defense. These missiles move too fast for phalanx to be reliable.
When would you integrate the PAC-3 MSE? Gotta add that in the game for a future naval battle. Also, makes more sense to use the planes smaller warheads to soak up the defenses to open the field for the heavy hitters of the ship anti ship missiles. May want to change the tactics and see what happens.
The main criteria for them was being able to fit in the f35 bay, which by the way is the smallest bay out of out fighters/bombers with bays. So if it fits in an f35 it can also fit within the f22, b1b, b21, b2, b52 . Not only that, but it also fits within vertical launchers.
Fully loaded 2027 UK carrier group vs China would be interesting. Give them as many F-35B as will fit in a QE class carrier. Upgraded frigates and such with more and better missiles. NSM, CAMM, etc.
@@grimreapers hey cap, I haven’t watched all your videos so I might be missing it but have you ever messed around with VLS-launched LRASM? On 3 June 2013, Lockheed successfully conducted "push through" tests of a simulated LRASM on the Mk 41 Vertical Launch System (VLS). Four tests verified the LRASM can break the canister's forward cover without damaging the missile. On 17 September 2013, Lockheed launched an LRASM Boosted Test Vehicle (BTV) from a Mk 41 VLS canister. The company-funded test showed the LRASM, fitted with the Mk 114 rocket motor from the RUM-139 VL-ASROC, could ignite and penetrate the canister cover and perform a guided flight profile. In January 2014, Lockheed demonstrated that the LRASM could be launched from a Mk 41 VLS with only modified software to existing shipboard equipment. It’d be really cool to experiment with this idea, I’d be all for it
The Tomahawk would be a TASM (Tomahawk Anti Ship Missile) variant. The TLAM is Tomahawk Land Attack Missile. 😂 I didn't know how much you keep up on modern propulsion systems, but I saw that the US "accidentally" make an in atmosphere ion powerplant capable of Mach 10+.I don't know how long it will take before is makes it into a warplanes or missile. Great battle, its probably not possible in DCS but it would be great if misslies changed targets based on whats been destroyed, and if ships were disabled by one missle since CV's wouldnt be able to launch planes for a while after even a small missle hit and destroyers sould be blinded since their radars ate extremely delicate (maybe they could still use CWIS or IR missle like rim 116).
To get the ships to fire as a time on target attack... Would it be possible to spawn in some ships loaded with the slower stuff, then after some time spawn some ships with the fast movers?
Yes but even with just basic missions editor, these battles still go wrong. For instance, sometimes, if you spawn a ship later on, it totally refuses to fire sometimes. Just not worth the risk.
As for how a carrier was destroyed in a single hit by a tiny warhead. I suspect it might have been a fluke when an antishipping wing was on the deck when it struck and it hit them setting off a chain reaction? I've never seen it happen in previous games before but its theoretically a thing right?

The US also has bases in S. Korea, Japan, and Guam to help coordinate strikes closer to China. Regardless, this was meant as a simulation in neutral waters.
@Grimreapers - Thank you for another great video Cap! I hope you are doing and feeling better.
Would you redo this battle? It isn't bad at all, I just think the approach and the order in which weapons are deployed in sequence for the blue side's attack could be made more realistic - not that DCS is realistic anyways. 😅
U.S. carriers still carry a decent amount of Harpoon missiles onboard.
Wake up, Carrier battles are back
Oooo yeh!
That was a fucking brawl. Although the F-35s were basically braindead.
I really enjoy your videos. Keep them up. These videos are probably as informative on weapon capabilities as official documents are and are in a much easier to digest format.
Cap has said himself that this is just a game and shouldn't be taken seriously
@@Iamabot4708 In my mind "informative" means that it gives you a good idea but is not authoritative. I listen to their discussions about modeling inaccuracies and likely IRL tactics that they can force in the game.
I guess the comparison to "official documents" was misleading because what I meant was that a layperson can watch these videos and end up with as good of an idea of what these systems can do as they would get from reading publicly-published documents. Will there be inaccuracies? Yeah, but they're not something that's going to impact me.

Oh my!! Let's go, been a minute since the last carrier match-up.
This one will be fun.
Also wondering, just because it is on paper, could you do the future russian Shtrom Carrier against another group, or 2v2, hell, even a 3v3, if possible match-ups?
Either way, keep doing what you're doing, hope you are feeling better man.
Great video😊you guys are hysterical 🤣
The opposite of Snake Eyes (two aces) is Boxcars (two sixes).
US carrier carries 75 fighters, it’s very practice as they can hold 90 if needed.
Good content, but the veteran Chinese wouldn’t be so veteran due to their known lack of training comparing to other countries and specially with the amount of constant training and actual deployments. This is coming from a current sailor in the US navy 2003 till today 20+years in

Wouldn’t they have Constellation class in the US carrier group?
Yup good point, my bad.
Don’t think the first one will actually be in active service until 2029
I think the ship class may launch then, but I don't think it'll complete sea trials and be pressed into service until after 2027, so only good ol flight III burkies.
I have more of a gripe with the j35a cross section but that's just me 😅
@@grimreapersif you’re gonna put constellations in, you have to throw in a few 054B as well, these fleets are getting big
What the Chinese say their weapons can do and what they can actually do are 2 different things. The dcs can only go off what the Chinese say on paper. If this was a real battle, the Chinese would be considerably worse off in real life compared to the claims and assertions about their weapons on they make on paper.
After watching the whole thing, the dcs was way way way overly generous to China.

Thanks!
IIRC it was to keep the stern CIWS and and a SeaRam?
33:50 My best guess is that a Mako impacted onto a J-15B and it's ASMs blew up on the carrier.
And Thanks as well CH!!!
the J-35 has an RCS of 0.02 just saying. the f35 also has radar jamming and vf radar tech that sneaks past rwr. not counting towed decoys
I hear what you are saying about the amount of Squadrons on a Carrier. Their have been 4 Attack Capable Squadrons on Nimitz-Class Carriers for years. And I believe there are 5 on a Ford-Class.
19:34 - “No I don’t know to pronounce it (Gyrfalcon).”
Easiest way to explain it: just say “Jerkfalcon”, minus the letter K and you’ve got it. 😊
F-35s are reported to be able to carry the Makos internally
The main criteria for them was being able to fit in the f35 bay, which by the way is the smallest bay out of out fighters/bombers with bays. So if it fits in an f35 it can also fit within the f22, b1b, b21, b2, b52 . Not only that, but it also fits within vertical launchers.
Agreed but I really needed to use the F-35 squadron for A-A.
Fully loaded 2027 UK carrier group vs China would be interesting. Give them as many F-35B as will fit in a QE class carrier. Upgraded frigates and such with more and better missiles. NSM, CAMM, etc.
Okay but what about Lichtenstein versus Monaco?
Why don't the fighter jets participate in subsonic missile interception?
We can do that BUT if I script them to do that then they usually will not do their main task, so it;s best just to ask them not to do it.
I heard LRASM mentioned but didn't see it deployed- were they switched out for the Mako's?
Correct, I wanted to try MAKO today instead of LRASM.
It’d be really cool to experiment with this idea, I’d be all for it
Considering china only has two one was a casino boat transformed into one and the othe a copy of that this should be easy

You should do a version with the air launched SM-6
How can I display that scoreboard and the cost counter in the top right?
Wait, 2027 when US gets AIM-260 and MAKO hypersonic?? They don't have these functional in 2025, while the Chinese have their hypersonics in mass production!
There is no 2027 Chinese carrier group LOL…they still can’t even get a carrier working.
Thanks Cap, been waiting for another big battle for what feels like months. I'm not going to lie I've been skipping a lot of your content lately as I really like the more real world big battle scenarios. but I know those are much harder for you guys to make them. Sad i hoped he wouldve added at least 1 or 2 constellations to the strike group
Not in 2027 sadly. The USN is screwing up the Constellation class. The first ship isn't expected to be completed until 2029 now.

Love these mock battles and the estimated cost...but where are the subs?
Great battle, its probably not possible in DCS but it would be great if misslies changed targets based on whats been destroyed, and if ships were disabled by one missle since CV's wouldnt be able to launch planes for a while after even a small missle hit and destroyers sould be blinded since their radars ate extremely delicate (maybe they could still use CWIS or IR missle like rim 116).
i know that you can't do anything about it, but the way that the aircraft for both sides fight at knife fight range is so infuriating
Flotilla Friday! Great entertainment. 😊
just a quick question why are the growlers never involved in the battles
They will have to face three or four carriers. So good luck.
I wonder if by 2027 the Chinese will be able to launch their planes from a carrier while they are fully armed. LOL
Kinetic energy is an amazing thing
Yes, who doesn't love the What-If .. but still no torpedoes?
To get the ships to fire as a time on target attack...
Would it be possible to spawn in some ships loaded with the slower stuff, then after some time spawn some ships with the fast movers?
You could, but heavy scripting tends to lead to more bugs than benefit unfortunately.
@@duanemckinley9353 I don't mean scripting, just from the mission editor
Yes but even with just basic missions editor, these battles still go wrong. For instance, sometimes, if you spawn a ship later on, it totally refuses to fire sometimes. Just not worth the risk.
As for how a carrier was destroyed in a single hit by a tiny warhead. I suspect it might have been a fluke when an antishipping wing was on the deck when it struck and it hit them setting off a chain reaction? I've never seen it happen in previous games before but its theoretically a thing right?
I think it was something like that. There was a lot of smoke and fire on the deck for that small percentage damage.
DCS ship damage models do weird things, sometimes they just explode for no obvious reason.
anyway you could also include the submarines that are typically with CSG's? I don't know if DCS has them or not.
