He's not going to, because he's full of crap. He sells this food, so he won't tell you what to use. My guess is that he's full of crap about that too - have you ever heard of a member of the canidae family regularly eating oysters? Also, grocery store meat isn't good enough for a dog? STFU

I've always been a fan of raw/cooked food for my dog. Due to cost, time, and ratios along with what food is accessible I have found it's best for my dog and I is to mix with a high quality kibble 🙂

A straightforward video on the pros and cons of feeding homemade/raw. It does require a commitment on the part of the pet owner. I have been feeding my two cats a rotation of boiled chicken with bone broth and raw ground beef for a year. I add a powder supplement to the broth. Finding secreting organs is hit and miss, so I also use a wet cat food that is low in calcium and phosphorus as a supplement.

Weird how worried we are supposed to be about our dogs getting a completely balanced diet when I'm pretty sure none of us cook food for ourselves or kids with all those nutrient needs in mind. Somehow our grocery store foods are not good enough to satisfy the dogs complete nutrient needs but the horses from livestock auctions that the kibble companies use are fine. I don't know the science but common sense tells me that a highly varied diet similar to what we would feed ourselves should be good enough as long as we aren't just feeding the dogs the same 5 ingredient meal everyday their whole life. All these dietary needs that don't seem to be easily accessible seem like a marketing thing by dog food companies to tell you it's too complicated just buy our food then you can add whatever you want to it, but it wouldn't be balanced that way would it? If the kibble was complete and we add a bunch of meats that throws the scales out of wack because then the dog isn't getting enough of the other stuff vs the proteins in the food and what we add. I think the reason people are "wanting" to cook for their dogs is that we can't trust the dog food manufacturers to make what they say on the label. Most of us don't even want to cook for ourselves much less our pets but we don't want to poison them with our food or kibble.

The main point of any diet is a ton of research, this is even true to yourself. When you do research, esp when you are from America. You realize most sources of food we get, is actually extremely unhealthy. Focusing on more whole foods is great!
Look up many different ingredients, doctors, etc - but also talking to your vet is so important.
    From my own research:
By product meal are bad period.
Steer away from ground meat - its not healthy for us its not healthy for dogs. We can manage it, but dogs I would not test those waters. If you do wanna put in ground meat, use lean turkey.
Steer away from 'Generic Meat Products' can have dead meat in it.
Bone broth is great - use your own/cook your own. Bone broth over the counter contains high sodium.
Organ meat is technically the best meat, but also high in concentrated ingredients. Like chicken gizzards can cause high chlestoral.
Fresh Ginger and Fresh Tumeric is GREAT, make sure to cook both. Chop it up/shred finely. Powder are fine too.
The idea is to have more meat then anything else - YOU NEED to have more meat then anything else.
Brown rice and Quinoa (specifically quinoa is better) is good for 'filler' and some carbs. But they should make up a lower % of the food and NOT the main food what so ever. I usually wash my rice and cook it in the broth so it can sap up the broth nutrients.
    Spinach in small quantities.
Green beans are great, CARROTS ARE PERFECT! From my research carrots are the best veggie for dogs lol. But don't just give them only carrots or all carrots etc. Too much etc. LMAO.
Yams are good, sweet potatoes as well - but in moderation and lean towards yams.
steak is great - but steak is so expensive lmao.
The best meat honestly is chicken breast.
I spend about 30$ on chicken breast at aldis. Usually like 2.49 a lb but its one of the best meats to give to your dog.
introduce anything new to your dog gradually, but when u stick to cooked foods you need to stick to it.
You can mix meats, just be careful how you do so.
Chia seeds are great, measure correctly not too much - BLEND!! Chia seeds can expand and cause dog to choke. be mindful. i always blend mine.
Be mindful dogs cannot digest shells so again if you do something like Flax Seeds, you must blend it.
    Hemp seeds are good.
For seeds those are the ONLY 3 I would use, and in moderation. Blend for easier digestion.
Pumkin is also really good source.
Eggs and eggshells really good for dog.
If you homecook meals for your dog you need to add vitamins. I use fish oil from Grizzly Omega.
They need calcium - DOGS especially need calcium. I use Dog Greens brand myself, a seaweed calcium.
"Why cook for your dog?" From my research what I understand is Dog Food does not have a true regulation like we do over our foods. The other issue is, a lot of kibble that gets sold at the store ends up being bought out by bigger companies. Then will have their formulas changed. The issue with this is - in my instance. I was going to purchase kibble from recommended food sources but when I did several I did research on were bought out by like the company that owns Blue Buffalo or Purina.
"Why did you start cooking for your dog?" My dog had digestive issues. My doctor kept recommending me alternatives and i just didn't like the idea. after talking to my family who cooks for their dog, I wanted to do it for myself. IMMEDIATELY saw benefits. My dogs fur is SO lustrous holy fuck. She is a bordercollie/poodle mix. Soft hair. Lost weight and is now at the weight she needs to be. My sister joined me with her dog, and his ears stopped smelling bad. His fur became softer. much more prone to listening/his mood got better.
Home cooked meals can be digestable faster bc its healthier foods, so sometimes they may seem hungeir. I would recommend home making treats too. Or finding safe 1 ingredient treats. Freezer dry ones are really neat. If dogs are hungrier sometimes you need to put more food - gauge accordingly do research.
'Why not raw foods?" THIS IS AMERICA, no seriously. America uses too much shit in their processing of food. I don't unfortunately trust it, will only cook food. Maybe in other countries you can try raw foods - don't know shit about raw food cooking other then like? Raw foods apparently have more nutrients in it.
"What other foods have you considered?" I thought about Natures logic, or Carna 4, FOur star etc. Kinda was like nvm.
No corn. Dont give your dogs corn lol. Just use another vegetable.
    No Soy.
Stay away from Glutens if you can.
Deli meat bad for dogs, even as a snack.
******IMPORTANT********* this is my research, and i just wanted to offer for a GOOD starting point. Look information up/research/I would recommend doing a test for dog allergies so you can steer clear of what dogs are most allergic too! My cousin did one off of amazon? Not sure how legit that is lmao. TALK TO YOUR VET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you don't do your own research I will come in the middle of your sleep and haunt you in your nightmares.
edit: OH YEAH brush your dogs teeth esp bc eating foods like this will make their breath stinky lmao you should be brushing them anyway

Homemade meals for your pet isn't as complicated as it's being made out to be. You can use grocery store food for your pet. All food processed for human consumption must meet the same requirements; whether is your local butcher, online or big-box-store. Be mindful of some RUclips channels as some have hidden agendas.

I feed a raw/home-cooked diet, along with a little of a human grade dehydrated dog food.
I actually spent less then in my past dogs on super high quality kibble.
Not only that, my past Aussies that were on kibble were not nearly as healthy as my current two Aussies.
No tummy problems, no stinky breath, no bad smells, beautiful shiny coat.
Their Veterinarian always tells me how beautiful and healthy they are. Their blood work and check-ups are always great.
I found a couple of great sources for the raw, commercial, frozen. Plus I supplement that with what I get at Farmers Markets, and pasture rased beef, Buffalo, pork locally.
Organic vegetables, eggs and the like.
I have two Standard Aussies, it cost me about $130.00 per month, to feed them raw/home-cooked food.
With my one, previous mini Aussie mix it was $90.00 buck on high quality kibble alone, and $45.00 on wet, canned food, so $135.00 for one dog. Plus she has all kinds of health problems, including turning diabetic.
I take a few hours a month to prep and cook the home-cooked food, package it up and freeze it for that month.
I make bone broth, and in the fall, after Halloween, Thanksgiving, I get pumpkins and make pumpkin puree and freeze it, yes, I sometimes run out and have to buy canned pumpkin puree, but a lot of the time it last all year, and its free, except for your time.
I work 50 to 75 hours, 5 to 6 days a week. If I can find time, so can you! ❤

      @nicoledandrea7570
      I fed a part raw/home-cooked diet.
      Cooked recipe
      1 large sweet potato chopped
      2-4 large carrots chopped
      1-3 celery chopped
      1 large beet chopped
( stems and leaves finely chopped)
      1 bunch spinach chopped
      1 bunch kale chopped
1-2 cups frozen/fresh green beans chopped
      1 bunch parsley chopped fine
1/2 cup peas ( frozen or fresh )
In 8 quart instant pot, add 1 cup of water ( I use homemade bone broth) and cook vegetables on high pressure for 5 minutes.
With potato masher mash vegetables into smaller pieces, around pea size.
      Then add
4 cups of bone broth or water
1 clove garlic ( yes, garlic IS safe and beneficial in small quantities)
      1 lbs ground beef
1 lbs ground chicken or pork
1 lbs ground chicken or turkey
      ( any combination for 3lbs )
      1.25 lbs chicken hearts
      1.25lbs chicken gizzard
( or 2.50lbs of hearts and gizzard sometimes they are packaged together)
      1.25 lbs chicken liver
      Or beef liver.
.25lbs beef kidney if you can get it.
All chopped into fairly small pieces.
      1/2 cup brown rice
      1/2 cup oats
      1 cup quinoa
      2/3 cup ground flaxseed
      1/3 cup chia seeds
Cook on high pressure for 15 minutes.
      Then add
      1 can mackerel
      1 can salmon
3 extra large eggs ( 4 large eggs) crack them and ground shells and add everything, Stir to mix.
      3 tablespoons of coconut oil.
      2 tablespoons of seaweed/kelp.
1 tablespoon of eggshells calcium power.
I feed this with a raw mix which is 10oz for myfemale, and 1.25 lbs for the pup, my 3 year old female australian shepherd gets 1 heaping tablespoon of this, my 10 mouth old male australian shepherd gets 1 heaping tablespoon, plus a little bit more of this.
It lasts me about a month, if feeding on it's own about a week and a half or so depending on the size of the dog and how many.
About a cup for 50 pounds.

One thing worse than cheap dry dog food is canned dog food. I buy chicken at wallmart fot .88 per lb. and cook it in a 10 qt crock pot for 10 hrs every 4 days and mix it with grain free kibble. I cook it until the bones are soft so i dont need to worry about choking. I get enough to feed 3 large dogs for 3 days at about $1 per lb. Much cheaper than nasty canned dog food.
