Watching for the memories. I watched most of this series back in the '90s. I've also met Michael at a home brew competition after an extensive judging of beer he was involved in. He could put away the brews to say the least.
I remember reading one of his books years and years ago and dreaming of one day trying the rare beers he describes. Now, it's easier than ever to find them (So long as you can sift thru all the filler). Now i just need to find my MJ Book!! Such a shame that Belgium beers are so expensive. I particularly like St. Bernadus 12, Rochefort 10, and Duchesse De Bourgogne.
I've walked many of the steps Mr Jackson did in search of beer. I'll never forget walking into Brasserie-Brouwerij Cantillon and how different it was to macro, mass scale steel breweries. Spider webs, dust, everything just doing it's thing and the result is staggeringly good.
so basically with the lambic they used to be drrinkin that shit but now it's all hawty-tawdy, Michael Jackson was a poetic, passionate man. I love the part about the wild yeast.
Love MJ, but too much time was spent on Lambic's, the least favorite Belgian of Belgian beers in my Belgian beer drinking expert opinion. You follow me?

So cool that you can still visit the cafe in Brugge he started at and drink almost all the beers he featured in this back in ‘89
it is been 30 years since this doc has been made, those beer bottles looks the same guess beer never changed
They must have been hammered at the end of that dinner. Some of those stronger brews hit you like a freight train after half an hour or so.
Idk man. These people drink all the time.
Jackson pounds about 10 Belgian quads at dinner and then asks for a scotch! 🤣
RIP liver
Dude was an animal 😅

Quality, not quantity 😉
It depends where you live. Here they are pretty cheap ;)
@aagg6124 they cost more than budweiser but you typically don't drink as many of them. They are also double the alcohol
Those people could chew and gulp down some seriously large portions of food and booze!
MJ was a badass, no not tee-hee version but the 🍻 one. ❤️
It's interesting that the first written recipe of Lambic was in 1516, the same year as the Reinheitsgebot of Germany.

what is that theme music? was it made specially for the series or is it from something else?

It was never shit and isnt now. Every part of our culture derives from archaic traditions
22:43 "frank ee twee kinders eh" "echt waar?"
Thank God the times have changed over the last 30 years. If the belgians were the only ones using coolships, I would be a very poor man haha
A Belgian beer habit is more expensive than drugs
@@XxowendanxX Nope, you can brew your own for about the price of mega swill, once you have your equipment (some buckets and burners, mostly)
@Ketoswammy my cousins did that. Made imitations of orval and westmalle tripel
Love tripel
The job of my dreams

lol that chick at the dinner is a tank
That's what I like. Especially after a few Belgians :-)
Michael is certainly interested. They both taste the passion fruit.
@@MrRufusjaxyou need to drink a few barrels of lambic and she will look like a supermodel
Judging from the look of a couple of the patrons at the Congo Bar I'm pretty sure that Michael unknowingly stepped into a gay bar.
Belgium has always had an identity problem 😂
@@XxowendanxX Good one!!

@@XxowendanxX I'll be careful when I visit the Cafe Congo someday.

Lambic is the beer of gods, abbaye trippel are overrated. I said it.
i prefer tripels but they're already well-known so why not give more exposure to lambik
(Duvel on the other hand is extremely overrated)
