The Trappiste Rochefort 10 is an unusual but great beer, cloudy with sediment. Always a special treat at Christmas with family and friends by a fire. Always pray for the monks as they sacrifice so much so as to be closer to the Lord and they pray for us.
I love both aspects of your comment. Rochefort 10 is the best beer in the world in my estimation. And the monks are doing God's work not only by brewing but by sacrificing their own ambitions to pray and engage in charitable work in service of the needy.
That store that he delivered to. Looks like a candy store for beer geeks. It's the type of place I used to frequent when I was growing up in New York City. Some stores in DC, too.
For a while I started to feel that Chimay was losing it's quality. A few years ago I bought a .750 of the Grand reserve and was not as impressed as I used to be. But then a couple of weeks ago I bought a 4 pack of the Bleu and it was wonderful. Like old times. I hear that the rouge and the blanc have not been produced in the monastery for quite some time and many people believe that only the bleu or grande reserve should not be permitted to be labeled as authentic Trappist product.
i would like to have known this great man who made the world of beer a world for everybody
I had the pleasure of standing behind him while he signed autographs and books while I was working the Brooklyn beer fest in 1994.
Watched the entire series for the second time....great TV by a great host.

Upon his death, De Clerck was buried at Chimay. That's hardcore. Chimay 4Life.
Wildeman is still a great place to go if you’re looking for beer in Amsterdam

Yes, Wildeman is great. Was on two trips to Amsterdam this summer and stopped in both times. Once for a French Kriek and once for a Westvleteren 12.
@robertcole5561 ever try Achel?
Mike would be heartbroken to see how terrible Chimay has become since switching to mass production.

Blue Chimay still one of the best dark ales in the world IMO
@@misterdog7 I've tried many new world quadrupel styles but none of them match up to Chimay
