A beautiful ouverture into the world of Belgian beer. I've visited 't Verzet not too long ago. The owners are guys who did indeed start out in college with a very modest operation. They are absolutely nuts about making beer, of which they make quite a variety. They did not want to partner with a big brewery because they want to do what they like without anyone calling the shots on them. They are everything that's good about Belgian beer culture. They are interested only and exclusively in making the best beer they can. It's great to see them talk about their beers, it's even better to drink some of their beers. Some of which are amazing, some of which are.... ah... more of a challenge 🙂. 't Verzet: I freaking love you, guys!
Geuze is indeed quite a special beer. What Tim Webb did not mention is that it is a perfect thirst quencher and it's not even close. Hot day, you're thirsty: have a Geuze. It's brilliant. I do prefer the 3 Fonteinen [3 fountains] Geuze myself.
Tim Webb got one thing absolutely right: it's about balance. Anybody can ferment sugar. There's no art to that. Brewing a high-quality beer, now there, that's the challenge.
Thank you for a beautiful review, Mr. Webb. I hope you enjoy our beers to your heart's content.

I have never been able to drink beer or wine until I had a lambic. I was able to have 3 full shotglasses of it and it was so delicious. I am so happy to find something I can drink and that tastes so good.

Fantastic video! In 2019 I did a bicycle trip in Belgium with a friend. We focused on Trappist breweries but of course drank many types of beer. I can't wait to return! By the way, bicycling was an amazing way to see Belgium.

Love your presentation, I worked for a Belgian Shipping conglomerate for over 32 years and had the opportunity to visit Antwerp many times. I love their culture, their food and especially their beers. I now live in Canada and am an enthusiastic home brewer and dabble on ocassion with Belgian style beers. I am not up to professional standards of course, brewingin the basement, but can still make a fairly acceptable beer. Your video leaves me hankering to travel again and Belgian is certainly on my list. Thanks.

There is ONE trappist beer that is NOT sold commercially, and you wouldn't have been able to have it served to you (legally) where the video is shot ; and that is West-Vleteren, you can only order it on their webside (that's rather new feature, you had to phone them to order it till last year or so), and then... hold on you have to make an appointement AND give them your licenseplate number and actually DRIVE to the monastery to get your maximum of two crates of the very best beer in the world... and of course... Antwerp is NOT the place you want to visit to taste beer without a bias...
