On “My Car Story” we're in Rosemont IL at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals on 11-16-23.
We’re looking at a 1970 Plymouth Rapid Transit System ‘Cuda in Multicolor Paint. The car comes with a 440 CI V8 (I think) and an automatic transmission.
The car's Owner is not with us today. I’ll do the best I can sharing this 1 of 1 Factory Built Show Car. This car is a Survivor and as I understand is shared today from a private collector. Hope he likes the video and invites me to see and share more of his collection.

Wow, very cool. It almost looks like a full size Hot Wheels car!
Thanks for bringing this to us Lou.
Hi Jeff, "It almost looks like a full size Hot Wheels car!" I agree. My pleasure sharing this car with you. You're welcome, Lou
This Cuda, and the Cuda that was painted every color that was offered in 1970, are two show cars that were burned into my mind as a 13 year old. It's so cool that it's still around for the world to see. Love it, Thanks Lou!!!
Hi Tom (and JudyAnn), I can see why this would be burned into your memory. You're right, once you've seen it, you can't forget it. You're welcome, Lou
How extraordinary, and rare, this 1970 Plymouth RTS Cuda! It has very strange and futuristic lines, established by that combination of paint with multicolored stripes. The interior, for a racing car, seemed quite comfortable. And those huge wheels that emerge from the rear caught my attention. Nice catch on this Barracuda, Lou!
Hi Jaime, my pleasure sharing the only one like this with you. Thanks for viewing and sharing what you notice, Lou
That is one crazy paint job. Yeah, it was definitely made as a show car, not the familiar production version.
Happy to share this "show car" with you :-)
What a cool piece of history. You never cease to amaze me with the rarity of the vehicles you feature. Thanks so much, Lou!
Hi John, Happy to share this "cool piece of history" with you :-) You're welcome, Lou

High praise :-)
Really great car capture Lou!
Happy to read you enjoy this car kiddycat17 :-)
I never saw this as a 1970s kid but I distinctly remember seeing the Buick GSX show car at what was probably the 1970 Chicago Auto Show at Mc Cormick place....
Hi Chris, even thought you might not have seen this one in Chicago, happy to share this one with you today from Rosemont IL :-) Lou
Holly cow!!!😮
Love the side pipes!
Happy to read "Holly cow!!! :-)
I can picture a "Hot Wheels" logo decal on the quarters! Very nice custom body design and the Cragar SS's finish off the classic '70's look.
NICE!
💕👍 nice œvre d'art
:-)
wow amazing Lou
High praise David :-)
@@loucostabile welcome
Wow, I don't know if I have ever seen this car before, at least before videos of this year's MCACN show started appearing - although I was four years old when this car was built.
Happy to receive a "Wow" from you :-)
Hey! Lou. I hope that you're doing well and that you're fine?
I just wanted to take this special opportunity to extend you and your family all of my warmest wishes, for the upcoming Christmas event, during the Happy! Holliday Seasons Greetings.
Merry! Christmas and thank! you for sharing this beautiful presentation on the RUclips channel, my friend.
Johnny, Montreal, Rosemont, Canada 🇨🇦🎁🌲🙏👍🎅❤️😃☮️
Hey! Johnny, I'm doing well when I'm around cars. Thanks for the warmest wishes for the upcoming Christmas and Holidays. You're welcome. Merry Christmas, Lou
First time that I've seen one of these RTS cars, although I have heard the "Rapid Transit System" term applied to a marketing program by Plymouth in the early 70s.
The paint scheme is neat, where the body and stripe colours converge and blend near the middle of the car's length and invert positions towards the rear.
Hi Martin, I have all 4 cars on the Channel. Type into RUclips search "My Car Story with Lou Rapid Transit" and they should all be viewable, like this one, Lou ruclips.net/video/y1nwMPMDFx4/видео.html
Wow, what an amazing Mopar! That paint color combo looks great, and the front end treatment looks modern even by today's standards. What a rare treat for the show goers and all of us here on the channel. Thanks, Lou!
Hi TheGunfighter45acp, Happy to share this "amazing Mopar" with you :-) I agree, this one is a "treat" for sure. You're welcome, Lou
Lou this car is Amazing I think it sold for near 2 million I watched an interview with the painter I remember him saying there is a real easy way too tell if it is The car go look at the paint job and there will be abrasion marks from ratchet straps apparently a salesman tied the car to the trailer over the car not under while moving it from event location to the next . Indeed the marks were there .
Craig happy to share this "Amazing" car with you :-) Thanks for viewing and sharing your knowledge too.
@@loucostabile Thank You Lou 👍🏼
Imagine the legacy of being famous for incorrectly strapping down a show car like this! Kind of like a museum curator that sets his coffee mug down on top of a yet to be famous work of art and leaving a stain.
@@martinliehs2513 Good Morning Martin can I suggest looking into the Gardener Museum heist speaking of works of art over 500 million dollars in art work stolen and the guy that new the most never said a word and passed away in jail a few years ago he was in for many charges none of which were from the heist . Have a Great day my friend .
It's, um, well... interesting. Didn't you also review two other cars that were part of the RTS a couple of years ago? I seem to remember a Duster and a Road Runner. Thanks Lou! 👍
Hi 1969, You're correct, and there are 2 Road Runners (all 4 are now on the Channel), Lou
Was this at the auto show when it 1st came out? Magazines?
Hi Bradydog, I'm familiar with the Rapid Transit System cars (all 4 of them are on the Channel) however I'm not an expert on the History. Hoping a Viewer can share knowledge, Lou
Now isn't there also a green and white "one of one" thats similar by this builder? That you also own?
The grean and white was the 70 paint job, this is the 71 paint, the 70 paint can be seen on the passenger mirror .
Here you go. ruclips.net/video/EuLK02DQ5Uk/видео.html

Wow, no door handles 😮
Happy to receive a "Wow" from you on what you notice.
What the...?
:-)
Not to rain on youre parade of the good feel video, but have to rant and justify so of a pet peeve of mine....how somebody that is rich but is very private get theirs hands on this masterpiece
unquie custom classic car as it should go to a museum for everyone to see in person, not a rich person collection that will disapear into the forever, that should never happen. As It rarely shown as it a really sad Shame
Hi silvio, and yet he's sharing it with this car show, and you're seeing it right here :-) Lou P.S. you can rewatch the video again, and again, and again.
Beautiful car
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
It's a shame it'll never be driven like it should.
I like driving them too.
That's one far out looking custom..Reeks of the 70's & Hot Wheels...Sock it to me 👣
I agree.
Nice video Lou, those rapid transit system cars were fascinating to see, glad that one was at the show 👍

I've never heard of that car. It is definitely worth knowing about! Thank you Lou
You're welcome Debbie.
RTS 'cuda! "Weeee doggies!" as Jed Clampett would say, aha. Amazing. I've only ever seen this amazing
machine in Mopar Action magazine (they have stuff on their website..maybe even inc an article or two on
the Rapid Transit cars. Simply the best Mopar musclecar mag, ever).
This clip here gives me newfound respsct for the paint on this car! WOW!

That is wild, the only thing that could have made it better would have been a 4sp ! Cool car !
