I'm a 50 year old dude and same....by accident stumbled across "Heart Heart Head"....then spent hours that evening watching every video she put out over and over again. That was 2 months ago and there is no doubt that she's amazing! I now have both her full LPs in vinyl and CDs. Her first 2 mini-album releases I could only find in digital, though.
It’s nice the all-seeing witch brought forward in time some medieval peasants to play backup at her show after one of her time travels. That’s all I could think while looking at the ensemble behind her 😂 Keep evolving, Megan. You’re becoming.
Aww Meg, I am a huge Kate Bush fan. When I heard this song, the way you covered it, I had tears streaming down my face. It was beautiful, respectful, and I have heard so many covers of this song, and yours captured its urgency, its pain, and its absolute beauty. Thank you for such a beautiful and respectful cover of a masterpiece.
Oh god. She totally got me. I´m now completely her puppet. I´m listening her songs everywhere. Car, work, home....yesterday on bike and I was used to listen there hard rock workout motivational music. =D
I have been a fan of a Meg Myers for many years and she still captivates me in the music. What I really love is the genuine honesty delivered in the music, it's always unique and I enjoy her voice styling.
It's always interesting sharing her music with friends and showing them how she is performing live and how they're weirded out, but as a singer, the way you move is crucial to how you sound, and it's so cool to me that she uses her movements to create her own sound and to also express herself and just let it all out.
She’s like Portishead, Alanis, Amy Lee, but better than all of them combined, way edgier and way creepy in a good way lol. Cannot even believe I haven’t heard of this girl until now and found her by complete accident, her “desire” video was recommended after listening to Grimes and Purity Ring on YT. YT actually did something amazing for me for once. So thank you.🙏can’t get enough now.
Like, "Don't make her mad! She threw a knife at me yesterday!" Kidding aside: Meg has made quasi-violent videos, so there is that element. I am sure she is not actually, really violent, though.
Wow. This is my introduction to Meg Myers and I'm impressed and intrigued. Kate Bush has been one of my favorite singers/song writers forever. Meg's introduction to Running Up That Hill clarified that song for me.
Put this on for some background music while studying, and this made me stop and take notice. You know where these nice folks are going? Right into the Spotify queue.....
On late night performances they autotune out of existence all the interesting parts of her vocals. Thanks NPR for your Tiny Desk. Thank you MM for the excellent cover of Kate Bush's classic.
I love Maynard, but he has a very melodic, raw, and even Monk chanting in some of his APC vocals. Meg is raw and an artist, but she is not a good vocalist in my opinion.
@@fiamma6594 it seems like who ever writes/arranges the songs (whether it be Meg alone or she has help) wrote them outside of her vocal range. I'm not trying to be rude, I feel her pain, I have a low voice too. What about the way she says "drunk"? The exaggeration?
She is so Bene Gesserit, that is a display of “The Voice” if I have ever seen one.
LOL. Ok. Someone likes Dune.
Very apt comparison
Put your right hand in the box.
I've been musically around the block more than a few times being an old git, and this wonderful, powerful lady for me is a beacon of light. Mind blown in the best possible way, every time ✌️❤️
Do checkout her new single My Mirror. she's done it again;
Meg never phones it in. 100%. Every time. Loving all the first time listeners of her stuff.
I love this so much better. Her regular stuff is over produced. I would love to see her collab with Jack white.
That would be amazing!
You just did see it. That's an incognito Jack White on drums. Hiding in plain sight!
I enjoy a slick production but it is nice to hear it all stripped away and know that the songs don’t depend on it at all.
Imagine finding her by accident at 14...I'm 19 now and Meg Myers is one of my favorite artists. Her songs aren't mainstream but it's raw emotion. Give her a chance, listen to her music and see if it does anything for you.
Ereri Stark I found her around the same age lol, 17 now
I'm a 50 year old dude and same....by accident stumbled across "Heart Heart Head"....then spent hours that evening watching every video she put out over and over again. That was 2 months ago and there is no doubt that she's amazing! I now have both her full LPs in vinyl and CDs. Her first 2 mini-album releases I could only find in digital, though.
The difference on edge doesn't matter
Music for my ears does
God bless you all
Nothing...🤣👍🏽
It’s nice the all-seeing witch brought forward in time some medieval peasants to play backup at her show after one of her time travels. That’s all I could think while looking at the ensemble behind her 😂
Keep evolving, Megan. You’re becoming.
I'm ok with good use of music
2024 and it still hits ❤
This reminds me of the 90s for some reason. Pretty cool.
I get it. Tori Amos esque via the 90s... or even Fionna Apple.
Check out "Cold" by her :)
@@earthmama_luma tori Amos ! Exactly
z9elka Tori Amos and Kate Bush, who Tori basically copied on her early work.
She's herself.
Clicked for the jumpsuit, stayed for the tunes 💃🏻
Emily Meg reminds me a tad of Björk
This was a dope ass session. Never heard of her until now, made a fan out of me that's for sure.
Does the female form make you uncomfortable, Mr. Lebowski?
Directly came to my mind
Coitus?
😂
Shorty is full of drama.
She tight ain't she?
Ms. Sparky Drama
Rocket Power Tori Amos wannabe
A bit too much. I think I'll just go grab some tea with the cellist instead.
Amazing, isn't she?
ZWICK 6 Funny you call her a Tori Amos wannabe, when Tori Amos got the majority of her style from Kate Bush, who wrote Running Up That Hill.
It's always interesting sharing her music with friends and showing them how she is performing live and how they're weirded out, but as a singer, the way you move is crucial to how you sound, and it's so cool to me that she uses her movements to create her own sound and to also express herself and just let it all out.
she aint fkn around. brainged it. pushed it. understood there's one go with this tiny huge desssssssssssssssK. great beautiful job by them all bravo
Is there a Bjork Tiny Desk concert? Because I have a hankering for one now
Life is not that fair...watch her Unplugged instead, old but gold.
she's too famous for tiny desks
@@Spiderboyish idk Adele and Florence and the machine did tiny desk. I think it's really doesn't matter if you must be a unknown artist to be there.
@@jakubmarszaek8330 indeed they did, but Florence, albeit very famous, is still an "indie" artist, plus she likes small venues
I feel like the Tiny Desk atmosphere couldn't fit her wild world imo
She’s like Portishead, Alanis, Amy Lee, but better than all of them combined, way edgier and way creepy in a good way lol. Cannot even believe I haven’t heard of this girl until now and found her by complete accident, her “desire” video was recommended after listening to Grimes and Purity Ring on YT. YT actually did something amazing for me for once. So thank you.🙏can’t get enough now.
Well if it weren't for Stranger Things I wouldn't even know she existed. She is very talented and I appreciate her music.
I kinda wanna kiss her but fear she suddenly will take a big bite on my face. She's magnificent tho💙
Hahaha!
This is the chilled version, you should see her when she really lets go in intensity.
Jokingly, they are all saying, "This is not an act, she's holding us captive. Help us!"
Like, "Don't make her mad! She threw a knife at me yesterday!" Kidding aside: Meg has made quasi-violent videos, so there is that element. I am sure she is not actually, really violent, though.
Even I clapped watching this on my phone....
Her voice. It’s so like flexible or something. Man she’s good af? 🤷♂️ I love it lol
This is my favourite NPR session. I hope she comes back and records another set for us :-)
Wow. This is my introduction to Meg Myers and I'm impressed and intrigued. Kate Bush has been one of my favorite singers/song writers forever. Meg's introduction to Running Up That Hill clarified that song for me.
So, nobody's going to mention the Elf in the string section?!?
There are others there??
There is definitely something special about her. Listened to this 4 times today.
Put this on for some background music while studying, and this made me stop and take notice. You know where these nice folks are going? Right into the Spotify queue.....
NPR is a beautiful thing
On late night performances they autotune out of existence all the interesting parts of her vocals. Thanks NPR for your Tiny Desk. Thank you MM for the excellent cover of Kate Bush's classic.
Her vocal range and different things she can do with her voice is god tier
It isn't. Not even close. But, she has emotion in it. And in the end, that's what matters.
Holy crap! That Kate Bush cover!!!
Generally though, quite some PJ Harvey influence...
She totally reminds me of PJ!!
@@francosamericanmusings1560 Thanks for commenting on this, I'd forgotten about this gig... Glad to be watching it again :)
Pretty sure I’m at least 20k of the views. ☺️ I’m in love.
Those are rookie numbers 😉😆
Shelley Jane you're beautiful, too.
I got a great deal of Maynard James Keenan vibe from her singing. She is absolutely stunning.
She shouldn't have to struggle so much to hit the notes in her own songs (wicked temptation is a good example of what I'm talking about)
That being said, she is talented and I do keep coming back to listen to her, so she must be doing something right 🤷
@@micky_knuckles In my opinion, she is an Artist and a very talented one at that, but she is not a skilled vocalist. A skilled vocalist would transpose the music to fit their voice regardless of the original composer. Unpopular opinion.....but Mylie Cyrus covering Maybe by Janis Joplin....that woman can sing! Meg is raw and that's part of her artistic flair. I will definitely listen to Wicked Temptation. I do enjoy her music, but I don't listen for the melodic quality because she is just not that kind of artist. No offense taken.
@@fiamma6594 I love Miley Cyrus, especially what she's doing lately with the more raspy, "rock" thing she's trying to do, it suits her voice very well.
I wish I had the...I don't know what it is, the bravery I guess? To scream like Meg does in Heart Heart Head (not the ones at the very very end, they are just kinda shrill in my opinion)
Is this the same Meg Myers who sang Lemon Eyes? Haven’t heard her in a while, definitely a different tune these days.
Yup
@@isabelayumi5734 honestly Lemon eyes was very different from the way she used to be as well tho... I thought it was very mainstream sounding for her compared to the darker sound she had before.
I think she was better before lemon eyes xd I guess her first album sister in the choir was the best, the cellist was something awesome.
@Jack Carter her whole new album is meh, and everything before was pure fire.
@Jack Carter I agree that music was better before but her live performance is still superb.
Such a special, beautiful mind she has! Reminds me of Tori Amos. She is another one we have on this blue little planet at the moment.
This woman is truly gifted and gorgeous with it. Her voice is exceptional, brilliant, brilliant, brilliant is all I've got to say.
If Meg Myers was in the star wars universe, she'd be one terrifying Sith Lord.
I hear what you’re saying but she isn’t a Sith Lord. She has real pain in her life and is using music to express and expunge it from her life while allowing others to do the same through her music. She isn’t taking it out on others and plotting their demise. He chosen path of dealing with the bad things in her life is way more akin to a Jedi than a Sith Lord.
Nerdiest comment I’ve ever made.
I really don't know how anyone could ever dislike any of her stuff
We call that jealousy ;)
I mean, she's pretty intense and sonically spikey..😂
I mean I totally get how someone would dislike it but I love it.
I'm so happy Meg is getting recognition again! I hope it turns out even better this time and she finds a path she truly feels free in! Shes unbelievably talented!
Luv Her Intensity! She needs more performances unplugged like this. It emphisizes her talent. She has great talent that needs to shine above overpowering instruments. Thk u npr... Thank U MEG!
HOLY F.......not since Bjork have I been so moved by a female singer....2021 period..
You can recognized a truly artist when you can't deciede which of her songs are the best as all of them are amazng on their own I am a Metalhead however can't ignore the fact that there is beautiful music out there love you Meg lml
I f$&king love MEG MYERS!! Her music is pure genius!! Her voice is heaven and she can sing what hell feels like better than anyone!!
Cheers
her body language n voice is basically a physical representation of how my mind feels #semi-psychotic
