I’ll be entirely honest, until last episode I didn’t know narrators were a thing, either because I missed something in episode 1 or it just wasn’t mentioned. So when he mentioned Randy, I just thought he literally meant randomness. Makes it no less funny, just marginally more sense
Imagine going for a raid on some random, backwater colony in the middle of a mountain, expecting an easy wipe and a bunch of free stuff, only to walk into the microwave hallway from Metal Gear Solid.
Especially if you heard that that same colony started out as a single dude eating raw rabbits with his bare hands and huddling around a steam geyser to avoid freezing/starving to death lol
"Hey can I have an engaging resource mechanic?" "Sure thing bud" "Oh but hold the resource scarcity" "Hold the scarcity?" "And Hold the vein location generation!" "Hold the vein location generation? HEY JIMMY, GIVE ME A RESOURCE MECHANIC WITH NOTHIN'" "Nothin'???"
I was thinking about the trajectory of the GTNH series and this one, and why the GTNH series is losing it's luster, etc And I think the best summary of it is, your content is at it's best when its about putting up with whatever wacky over the top BS the game is hurling at you through creative solutions, workarounds, cheese, and snark. Early GTNH was FULL of those, but once it settled into "regular GTNH" and its timewalls... the situation speaks for itself. I can't imagine this series settling into a similar rut though, between all the possible system interactions and Randy being Randy. Keep up the good work, goose man

i've been playing a good amount of Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead lately, and i think it might be the perfect game to do a series on for this channel. it's also capable of being freakishly difficult and has built in challenge runs
From the exactly five seconds of research I just did on it... yeah kind of. My impression was very much a dwarf fortress vibe. I will add that to the list to check out.
@@NeuroticGoose Ah, I know its entirely personal taste but I recommend using the Undead People Tileset if you decide to make vids on it or just play it in general. I would not expect such a thing to be interesting. The manners by which CDDA is made more complex makes it much, much less interesting and fun to play, as you end up spending a lot of time fiddling with details of things and micromanaging and dealing with a development model where fun is a low priority, instead of doing anything remotely interesting. Hey Goose, I was wondering for a different Minecraft playthrough (I know, very original)if you could play the modpack Better Than Wolves? It would be very entertaining (at least to me) since the modpack is very unforgiving. Love ur content 🙏
i love your content. i agree with what that other guy said about how the nothing series was starting to get a bit dull because it's just normal gregtech at this point. what makes your content so good (for me) is the 'unique' way that you say things, i can't really describe it other than it's similar to Alec from Technology Connections, but more 'intense' in a way. ps: in a previous comment i recommended the game Satisfactory, just wanted to tell you that it just left early access.
Autocannons actually have a 4-5 “blindspot” (separate from the minimal range) where they won’t damage anything that close in front of them, putting colonists right in front of them is perfectly safe and I do it
If you put an unpowered turret with a closed door that looks at the enemy when they enter the corridor to the killbox they enter combat mode and thus each of them must be on a seperate tile. Very nice to have so they dont suddendly enter combat mode inside the killbox and instead trickle in one by one
holy shit i was thinking about making a super heated air box right before you mentioned it! I wonder the viability of using a mix of Steam vents and Napalm IEDs to make a more self operating Kiln? maybe layerer open doors near the entrance to cut down on thermal loss
Hrm. Can't tell if Goose got a new mic, is in a better mood than usual, or is sick. Or I'm still sick, and my ears haven't popped yet. One of the four.
In my playthrough I wanted to make two pawns date: a researcher and a crafter. A crafter had decent social skill, but garbage research. And a researcher was very poor (1 social) with talking to women (or any people in general). What I did was I built a second research table in the same room and forced the crafter to research in one room with the researcher. After some time they finally did hook up, although it took them half a year, since they found insulting each other particularly interesting. The logic behind this move was "i will force her to communicate with him 90% of the time, so that she doesn't have a chance to build better relationship with other pawns". I thought you can do the same with Goose
So. Interesting corollary to that - the best way I have found to get two pawns to hook up is Stockholm syndrome. By capturing and then reducing the recruitment resistance of one pawn with the other, the warden builds rapport with the prisoner, which translates to a massive social opinion buff that persists post-recruitment/release. If you do this with both pawns recruiting each other, you can stack social buffs to the max of 100 on each, at which point simply keeping them in the same general area is usually enough to do the trick.
Hard to say. He hasn’t made a supercut of his RLCraft series, but all those videos are in a playlist, so I suppose you could just watch the whole playlist if you’d like.
