    • @habadasheryjones
      @habadasheryjones 5 дней назад +1

      I mean Vanilla Ice generally gets mocked because he was an obvious industry plant in his time (a corny one might I add, even in his time) and his shall we say interesting explanation for how Ice Ice Baby's melody is "different" from Pressure.
      That said, I like his song in this film. I've never heard anyone go after Vanilla Ice for appearing in this movie. My only issue with his appearance is that its so random. They go from an isolated alley fight to crowded, dingy 90s club so abruptly and then Vanilla Ice is just there. Crammed into the last 5 minutes of the film. Then Super Shredder is just there for a final cutscene quick time event.
      Oh and in a movie where mutant martial arts animals altered by green ooze fight each other I find Vanilla Ice coming up with this Go Ninja Go "freestyle" on the spot right on stage to be the most immersion shattering, unrealistic thing.

    it's a fun ride. It isn't attempting a public service message like the first one was. You are here to watch the famous Ninja Turtles being silly and it's good for it. Don't be the kind of person (me) that looks at production on this one or FX and notices when the laces of the costumes are visible on screen (yeah). Fun and to illustrate I was dragged to this movie by some friends and literally it was the most engaged I have ever seen a theater. All ages and walks of life, because this one was packed since it is the Turtles. Right away my goofball friends and I got up in front of the screen and did a kick dance to the men's big and tall advert before the movie and got the audience riled up because we noticed how energetic they were. And that energy continued throughout the film. At most points people were standing and pumping their fists and either singing or shouting some of the quotes (Cowabunga of course), repeating the lines (They're baaabiiies!). it was like being at a concert in an arena. So I think it is easy to call this film frenetic and in a good way. It isn't earning any awards but sometimes a movie doesn't need to and just needs to be a fun time imo.

    I'm not sure if you're familiar with the original comics or the 1987 cartoon, but Professor Perry was originally supposed to be an Utrom. It's a race of aliens that resemble a brain with tentacles. You may know Krang from the 87 cartoon.
    Even though the reveal didn't happen, there are clues in the movie. The TGRI lab looks nothing like a normal lab, especially with the pyramid and the brain shaped thing in the middle. Also, at the end of the film, April mentioned the sudden disappearance of TGRI. It's a reference to the whole building vanishing in the comics.

  • @bidwell13

    Shredder came back cause the producers wanted this to be more like the cartoon. There was a script where a garbage man found Shredder’s crushed helmet. You’ll notice the Turtles don’t use their weapons as much in this movie but rely on other items. Parents complained about the darkness and violence in the first movie. They brought in Keno to replace Casey Jones due to his violent nature. 13:08 the actor in the Leonardo suit wanted to do the backflip but it was deemed too dangerous and looked for a stunt double to do it after his said he didn’t know how. Mark Caso who is the main Leonardo actor was a national gymnastics competitor showed them he could do it and was allowed to do it. 18:48 the test was remove as many as you can without making a sound. You don’t have to get them all just as much as possible without making a sound. Raph needed Keno cause they didn’t know where the hideout was. Raph could get in easily if he knew where it was. The Turtles face masks are now with more electronics and lighter than the original movie. 21:20 he feels that this is their fight and not for the master to interfere. 29:49 yeah they had to find a way to still get a fun fight and not have them go back to normal so fast. I loved the soundtrack when it came out. The music is so good. A lot of newer movies don’t do such a great job on the soundtracks anymore unless they’re using 80s & 90s music (some 70s and earlier too but 80s and 90s had some of the best music). 32:14 I paused this scene and went through slow motion on this scene so many times to see how the speaker shot him across the room.

    Ok, you have to understand, when this sequel came out, it was at the height of Turtlemania. The cartoon was airing on CBS Saturday mornings with new episodes, an arcade game had already come out, merchandise everywhere, 2 Nintendo games had been released already, you couldn't flip the channel on your TV without seeing SOMETHING Ninja Turtles related. And DUDE, don't get me started on the comics, there were 2 separate comic series running at the same. One was the violent Mirage Studios original (that the first movie drew much of its inspiration from), and the other was the Archie Adventures comics that were based on the cartoon but by 1991 was beginning to spin off into its own continuity. Having said all this, it explains why this movie was so much more.....kid friendlier, let's say. I mean, Casey squashed Shredder in the back of a dump truck in the last movie, Turtles themselves likely killed several Foot guys with those weapons, so that violence was dialed way back now that the Turtles were children's entertainment cash cows. Still like this one, though, less so now as an adult but LOVED it as a kid.

    • @joshuasharrock466
      @joshuasharrock466 5 дней назад +3

      You have to understand it wasn't the writer's fault. When he wrote his original story which was the storyline of the 1st movie The company that bought the rights completely screwed him over. In the contract they gave themselves the right to change the story which basically meant it wasn't his story anymore. Krang, dimension X, basically the entire original animated story timeline was made-up for children to make money rather than the original story that was geared towards late teens early adults.
      To me the 1st movie was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and everything else was a cheap knockoff

    • @nedzed3663
      @nedzed3663 5 дней назад +2

      @joshuasharrock466 Are you talking about the 1st TMNT film screenwriter? I know New Line didn't want him back for the sequel because parents complained about the first movie being so dark and violent, but that's it in that regard. Because Eastman and Laird owned the TMNT license up until much later. Peter Laird didn't sell it off until 2012 to Viacom/Nickelodeon. He still retains the rights to publish the then running TMNT vol 4 comics he was writing, but he hasn't published anything since. I do remember both Kevin and Peter saying they didn't like elements of older cartoon like Bebop and Rocksteady, which is pretty funny since I heard it was their input on the 2nd movie that omitted them in favor of Tokka and Rayzar. Again, I only heard about this years ago on some random post so can't say if that's true or not. I don't recall hearing about how they actually felt about the Fred Wolf cartoon overall, I'd like to know what they have to say about it now. It's THAT show that pretty much shaped the TMNT brand for years overshadowing the darker original Mirage versions, and still does to an extent.

    • @joshuasharrock466
      @joshuasharrock466 5 дней назад +1

      @@nedzed3663 the screenwriter was on a podcast a couple of years ago and said the only way he was going to get popular was to sell the rights to his story which is why there are two different storylines. The only reason archie's adventures was allowed to make the story was because of the contract.
      As far as the original story being too violent and dark I have to respectfully disagree. The only difference between the first story and the second one is that the turtles are killing robots instead of teenagers. The actions of killing or destroying are the exact same. A claim like new line didn't want him back because of emotional reasons when we're talking about the 80s and 90s here is a complete lie. New line might have said that but the rich company explaining why both the story fell apart and it's not their fault is total Bull.

    21:29 😂 🤣 😂 🤣 Why does every young Asian-American person seem to say that about their Asian parents? I mean, are they really that cold? Or is it just Asian parents that immigrated west? 😔

      They say I love you in different ways, you gotta read between the lines. What they say overtly instead is how you failed and what you need to work on

      @NiaMakiReacts then you might enjoy the comedy Joy Ride. I still haven't seen it, but I would if you reacted to it. But it shouldn't be confused with the early 2000s road trip thriller Joy Ride starring Paul Walker, another great film.

    The biggest let down for every kid who saw this movie was that there was no actual fight between Super Shredder and the turtles. All the build up for an anti climatic looney tunes death.

    The first will always be fantastic but this remains my top out of the three movies, skip the third is my suggestion. The scientist was great and i will always know him as the voice of Ra's a Gul from Batman: The Animated Series.

    Third movie is a big downgrade from this one, and has no story threads from the previous movies. It's its own thing.
