Just bought 2 used Maui 5 Go original versions. Just did a wedding ceremony with them...Absolutely fabulous. Reception was outdoors with a bigger system, got rained out so quickly moved inside the wedding barn, finished the reception with the 2 Mauis on battery. Love them.
@@Kniz27 I always try to run thru a dbx Driverack for EQ and feedback reduction. So mixer>Driverack>Mauis. If needed, XLR out of one Maui into the other.
I have some Maui 5 Gos and I am amazed at the sound for how light they are! If you’re a mobile, I recommend getting a few sandbags to steady them for when you set up on grass on windy day or if you’re afraid they’ll get bumped into by someone so they don’t fall over.
I've just done a bit of a stress test on one of my Maui 5 GOs and gosh does it pack a punch for its compact size and weight! Two of these as a stereo pair is fantastic. It does indeed lack some high end sparkle but there's still plenty of high end and an external mixer with improved preamps and eq will really make these shine.
I've had many boom boxes, partybox, tested the mackie thump go and... This speaker is my favorite because no need to have stands and it is loud enough, It do its job! Only one regret, it drivers roll of around 12khz so I added a 1 inch tweeter with a 3.3 uF 100v cap under the first driver, drastically improved the clarity!!! It cost me 20 dollars for the tweeter and it's a freaking simple to do. 20 minutes for the whole process. For the size weight price it is a really good product. Adding a Subwoofer I play outdoor pretty loud for 20-30 people
@@davidnortech it's very easy disassemble the column removing 3 screws on the top and bottom of the column so you can remove the protection grill. I've got 2 of the Maui 5 GO speakers (a regular Maui 5 GO and a Maui 5 GO 100.) I really love that you can daisy chain 2 of them together for stereo operation or even more speakers for when a bigger sound and more volume is needed. I do wish that there was at least one extra mic input and a basic built in reverb/delay/echo for the mic, instrument and line inputs. Other than that, they sound fabulous for their ultra compact size and I got a lot of compliments just using one of these speakers at a party of about 80 people.

I´m thinking about buying 2 units for cocktails and maybe some ceremonies and banquets, but would like to know how is it possible to connect a bluetooth device to feed both units? Can this be done by wireless? or maybe the first by bluetooth and the second by xlr from one to the other?
Appears to fit the bill for easy transport/ set up, ok, so perhaps certain limitations, but soundwise comes across well regarding price, thing is as well, people out there listening are more intent on the music content, how many honestly will be saying to each other " mmm not quite enough bass or sounds a tad too much on high end" 😊 , wrap it up i'll take one !
I just got one of these. Gotta get you, I’m a bit underwhelmed. The sound seems flat and it’s hard to achieve decent gains. I’m running my sound through a Yamaha MG7X mixer and have to turn up all the gains past 3:00 just to get decent sound.
We are all entitled to our opinions right? Problem is, there are so many variables here that are unknown and we’re talking about a battery powered Column array system that’s under $1000 - not sure what your expectations were but from our experience it was not underwhelming by any means. We have to respectfully disagree w u.
@@TheDJsGuru Appreciate you responding. I’m going to fiddle with this setup for a bit before I give up. I’m using this as part of my new battery powered ceremony setup, so we’ll see.
@@JoeS795 if you're comparing this ultra compact line array PA system with something like a JBL Eon One Mark 2 or an EV Evolve 30M, then of course you'll be underwhelmed. It's certainly not in the same league but then again, it's not supposed to be with its ultra light and compact dimensions. I have an Evolve 30M that leaves the Maui 5 GO for dead, but it's twice as heavy and a much larger more capable system that isn't battery powered.
Owning both a regular Maui 5 GO and Maui 5 GO 100, I can now confirm that they're both identical to each other with the exception that the regular GO has a larger 5200 capacity battery and the GO 100 has a smaller 3200 capacity battery. All other specifications and dimensions are identical. The 2 different batteries are fully interchangeable and I've charged my larger 5200 battery on the GO 100. Interestingly enough, the regular Maui 5 GO is now very scarce in Australia whilst the Maui 5 GO 100 is easily accessible. The larger battery is also impossible to come by and they're even regarded as a dangerous good for postage, unlike the smaller battery!
I have two of these speakers (gift from my parents) for some reason the two middle speakers in each column don't work. the only sound is coming out of the bass bin and top speaker. has anyone else experienced this?
the 2 elemnts in the middle are empty spacers, they are not speakers. they look like speakers to llok consistent and aestetically pleasant, but the only speaker is the top one
Sure, Once they’re connected via Bluetooth you can use any app on your phone to control and play the music. That said we do not believe there was a specifically made app by LD Systems.
@@TheDJsGuru I meant like the app for JBL Eon one compact or Mackie thump go. Where you can control the built in mixer. Control the inputs, add reverb on the mics and such.
@@tuomo_blues Thankyou for your reply. The Maui 5 GO is hard to come by in Australia but there's plenty of Maui 5 GO 100s. The batteries are interchangeable despite me being told that they're not by local retailers who obviously don't know what they're talking about! I now have a Maui 5 GO and Maui 5 GO 100 running as a stereo pair and they're are fabulous speakers for their very compact size and light weight. They also look great and it's fantastic that I can get nice stereo sound using both of them without being anywhere near mains power!
Would this sound system be adequate enough for solo entertainment? Just a guitar, microphone and vocals. I’ve been looking for something like this just for playing my guitar and singing songs for small crowds. Your response and opinion would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
@johngarza6569 a single unit is great for up to 100 people but the built-in mic pre is very weak, and you're well advised to use a small external mixer with superior mic pres for way more gain.

For a corporate cocktail would you say using one is enough or recommend using 2?
Depends mainly on the size of the room. IMHO just 1 is enough for functions up to 100 people. Anything bigger than that and 2 would be recommended.
It would be even better if it had power out to plug in wireless mic receiver, laptop, external mixer etc….
Or if it made cake 🎂🤪
