I bought the OE-Fit sensor from Rock Auto for our 2013 Escape. The windshield wipers were acting erratic.. not moving sometimes and not always resetting to thier off-position (which made it hard to reset the wiper blade locations ) according to the window blade location marks (an important step for the Escape, see other RUclips videos on this) after changing the battery. After changing this sensor assembly, both wipers worked and reset reliably to thier off-position location. Fingers crossed. Thank you for sharing your thought process and for showing the wiring diagram logic.
Thank you for your video. I truly believe everyone who changed their own battery pretty much has or had this problem. My wife called Ford to see how much to put in a new battery was they quoted $500+ dollars of course I said that was insane. So I as a mechanically inclined person did some research and did it myself at the cost of a new battery ($120) and did the battery change myself. Well everything worked perfectly for two weeks until one day my wife got caught in some rain and the wipers didn’t work. Well again she called Ford this time it was a quote of $1000+ dollars to repair the car again insanity. Again I did my research and did exactly the same steps that the mechanic in the video did and came to the conclusion that it was either dead motors or the BMS. Well it was the BMS. I feel the engineer who designed this car knew what he was doing when he designed this part of the car. He knew that any man with a set of tools and a little bit of knowledge of cars would loose his mind at Ford’s quote of a battery change and do it himself and then Ford kicks up the quote to get the wipers working again and doubles their money. I can bet Ford has made millions off this simple repair that should have never have happened in the first place if the car was designed by an engineer who would knowingly not let a problem like that even reach the assembly line. That is a terrible thing that Ford knowingly let that design flaw hit the market and people all over are paying hard earned cash on repairs that never should happen. BAD on Ford no wonder some people say Ford means Found-On-Road-Dead!!!! I am one pissed off Ford owner and this little hiccup Ford let slide out the factory door knowingly has a lifetime Ford owner thinking that his generational family of Ford ownership most likely ends with this poorly designed car!!!
Many Thanks! Muchas gracias!! Superb! Thanks for showing your process of step by step diagnosis and wiring diagram. The wipers on my 2017 Escape stopped working and I was lucky enough to click on your link. After running your tests I bought the OE cable from Fraud for too much money but they had it in stock. Fixed my problem. I am grateful to you.
2014 ford focus as well. I am literally trying to figure how 2 motors went out on my daughter focus and by chance checked online and found this I will be checking out the sensor tomorrow when I go back. I did the fuse check first and in my mind that's the only thing other than motors not getting power and I don't know how they wouldn't if fuse is good. I've never never seen 2 motors just burn out all of sudden
Mine work but they just randomly come on and don't shut off. I was looking in the manual for the fuse location to just take it out as a temporary fix but the Manual only showed rear wipers. Thanks for the video
Ive been digging for months trying to find something about this. Look like ive got some testing to do! We had this problem till we replaced the battery and now the problem had reappeared! Maybe this will be our mystery solution!
Thank for sharing meticulously troubleshot job. Do you know how to test the signals from the Battery Monitor Sensor and/or the Body Control Module other than trial & error a new part? Have the same issue but, in my case, changing the BMS did solve the dead front wiper motors (rear wiper & pump motors both work well) as per the schematic BMS has 3 signals, a ground internally linked to a negative connection via the battery terminal and the two signals, you pointed out,: white goes to the motors and paralleled to the BCM and red/violet to the BCM.
I like the challenge. When I get problems like this one I don’t stop till I get it right. A lot of my knowledge for diagrams and computer diagnostics come from school UTI. I highly recommended it for anyone that wants to get into this field

I have this friend his wipers don’t work on a 2012 ford focus. I replaced the wiper motors, the switch, I checked the fuses. But tomorrow morning I will check the sensor
@@NicholasGotel if it’s the sensor on the ground it shouldn’t be much. You can buy the part at the dealership and install it yourself. Or just pay someone to do it
no need for reset, the previous battery was leaking acid and corroded the negative battery terminal damaging the sensor, nobody's fault but an old battery sulfating
@@antonioaguirre6166 I understand I am having the same issue on my car I checked all the fuses, wiper motor, electricx all good I even changed the damn indicator/stalk nothing worked I hope the cable will help me out if not I will take it to a mecanic. If that's my issues I saved so much money 💰

This title should include 2013-2019 Ford escapes as they have the same wiper motors across the entire generation.
Good to know
I have not work on a 2018 nor 2019 yet. Thank you for the info
Could it be that the previous battery cable was,nt tight enough and that was the cause of the batterysensor getting hot due to high resistance
@@vins0916 yes that’s a possibility. I seen it happened before however in this case the old battery was leaking acid.
