Active drag brake is when your descending, no more on and off the throttle. To set the active drag level: i normally set it at 5 and test to see if it does that jitter. If it does jitter, lower the number to 4. If it doesn’t jitter, set it to 6. You want the highest setting without the jitter. The downhill control you gain with this function is what I believe sets this apart from the 1080. Also being able to set throttle curves. Just gives you so much better low speed control.
I have 2 of these ESCs now. One in my son's FTX Mauler, and one in my Carisma Sca1e Coyote, and I've not had any issues with either. Yes, the set up can be a bit quirky at times, but for the kind of driving my son and I do, it seems pretty good. Time will tell on the long term performance, but for a cheap ESC, for a build on a budget, I'd still use one again. Nothing against the 1080, as I have one in my TRX4, and would definitely use that again, but it's always good to try something new. Especially at only £20!!! 👍🏻😎
it's always nice to have more options but when it comes to brushed crawlers 1080 will always be my go-to especially when paired up with a Holmes hobbies crawler motor
I have two Element crawlers both (currently) running Holmes Crawlmaster Sport 8T 550 motors. One has a 1080, the other an ESC70. The ESC70 did take a bit more setup than the 1080, BUT it doesn't get hot running the 8T like the 1080 does. I had the same hesitation transitioning from FWD to REV. It's been a while, but I want to say dialing in a bit of throttle trim is what got rid of that.
Just buy a Fusion 2 in 1, or Axe by Hobbywing. The cost is 100.00 more, then what you would spend on a brushed set up. With better control over all aspects of your drive train. Thanks again Troy, Great and informative video.
I agree there's another speed controller it's called The Ark2 made by karisma it has even more setting but at the end of the day the 1080 is what I would go with
Hey Troy. Now that it's been a couple weeks do you like the esc or have you gone back to 1080 ? I bought mine last night and it I'll be here tomorrow!! Installing it on a legendary grando crawler I picked up Really cheap.
The ISDT is still installed in this truck...but I do not recommend buying it. The Hobbywing 1080 really is only a small cost increase, but really does better. This ESC has caused me issues with jerky startup and worse - occassionally refuses to turn on until I reconnect the app.
Honestly - the more I use this ESC - the less I recommend it. Instead, get the Hobbywing 1080. They even just released an improved v2 version. That is smarter money spent than on this ESC.
I've seen a lot of videos on this esc, nobody has been happy with the over complicated esc programming and firmware issues, have yet to try mine, can't lose with a 1080
For new users, a visit to isdt FAQ section is a Must. App should have every aspect of every setting and every dependent setting to the setting you're changing explained. But it never will. Their FB page is also quite rich in issues and some helpful tips from users. Bluetooth button is 100% not safe for water. Esc I still don't know if it's submersible and how reliably waterproof it is, if at all.

Thanks! I will give it a shot.
Wow! I’m amazed at the slow crawl modulation! So smooth! Excellent find!
Thanks!
I like that ESC. Yes it was a pain to setup. But when you get it is a good little ESC. Great price.
Glad you like it!

The price point is especially good on this esc! I agree.

I agree 100%!

Interesting! Thanks for the feedback
@@RoadsideRC, it may have actually been the Start Force. I'll have to check when I get home. How can I send you screen shots of my settings?

I got mine installed and it's doing very well so far. Just working on a slightly hesitant reverse like a 1 second delay
is this esc for crawlers only? or will it work fine for a basher like lets say a arrma granite 4x2 or arrrma voltage?
Honestly - the more I use this ESC - the less I recommend it.

Nice and clear video!! 😀

EXACTLY! Can't lose with the 1080.
good review my friend seems the setup is awkward but you explained it well
*left a like👍Au👍fully watched*
Thanks!
I like the ISDT 70 but I deal with the stuttering issue too and haven't found a solution.
Thanks! Now I know I am not crazy!
Are you going going to try out the new radio link cool9030 90a brushed esc
Haven't seen it yet, but would be happy to try it.

12 months later and there is a isdt esc 90
I have not tried it yet. Based on my experience with this one, not sure I will....
Watch exocaged rc’s review on this, I think he figured out the drag brake.
I'll check that out
the esc is not bad, because you decide how is behave, but the app is the one is bad, some people the app is the real problem for others not
Yes. I think so
I agree, much better off buying the 1080. The ISD is trash. Well mine is anyway.
Thanks for the feedback.
Take it you didint get on with that then Troy hobbywing all the way 👍👍
Hobbywing all the way for me!
