    I am really pleased you see DA Veilguard the way most of us who love the Dragon Age series see it. It has been over a decade and with all the staff changes etc., it is bound to be different, but change is good and healthy and those who criticise it. They are entitled to their opinion but it annoys me that they bag it because of their own ideas of what "should" be. If they don't like it they can choose not to play. I think a big problem is that some of the extreme gamers are comparing it to Baldur's Gate 3 and it is not BG3 it is a totally different game so thank you DS for giving a sincere opinion. This is the first time watching your videos but I will be looking out for more.

      Exactly! I’m always interested and excited to see what they do with their next iteration. Things will ALWAYS change and evolve over time. The only thing it “should be”…IS Dragon Age! Baldurs Gate’s combat wasn’t my favorite at first, but it just ultimately took me awhile to fully understand it. Now? It holds a special place in my heart just like Dragon Age does. So happy you feel the same!

    Thanks God I'm not the only who thought a lot of DATV had similar flairs to Kingdom Heart(in a good way). A lot of its graphic and art style seem a lot more clean and popping with eye-pleasing color.

    I loved Dragon Age: Origins. Spent well over a thousand hours replaying that game.
    Then I heard that they were making changes for the sequel, DA2, that the dialogue system was going to be similar to the wheel used in their Mass Effect game, and that the combat was going to be more action than tactical, again like ME. So, got a copy of Mass Effect to see what that was like, because I didn't tend to play Action RPGs. I loved Mass Effect, and played both ME1 and ME2 before Dragon Age 2 came out. And (although its not my favourite of the series) I loved DA2 and replayed that, spending another few hundred hours of my life in Thedas, before Mass Effect 3 came out and I was pulled back to the Normandy and Commander Shepard.
    When Dragon Age Inquisition came out it was another DA game taking over my life again, and I am sure I spent more hours and more replays of that than the previous two; though some of those hours were probably due to the character creator and and the amount of customising of how our Inquisitor could look. Again the gameplay of DA changed. A hybrid of the action rpg of DA2 and the tactical view of Origins, that personally I found clunky and difficult to use; and rarely did really only using it to pause and use an AoE spell.
    What the combat from the gameplay trailer for DA: Veilguard most reminds me of, is the combat in Mass Effect: Andromeda; a game that I don't think is as bad as it's reputation. Andromeda is not the best in the ME series, but I found it enjoyable and the combat was the most fun of any of the games. The only gripe I have on the art style is the changed look of the demons, but frankly, it doesn't put me off the game. What I've seen and heard so far, as raised my anticipation to finally get to return to Thedas.
    Will I love the game? I don't know, I might spend as much time playing it as I did the DA:I or DA:O, or maybe only as much as I played Andromeda. I think I'm at least going to enjoy the game, but hopefully more than that.

    • @daftspellcastor
      @daftspellcastor  3 месяца назад

      I love that you used Andromeda as an example. I never personally finished that one, but it wasn’t as bad as people made it out to be. I actually might go back and finish one day. I love that the combat has changed EVERY DA game. Inquisition was a perfect blend for me from Origins and DA 2, but I did miss the fully fast-paced combat from DA 2 😅

      Honestly complaining about action combat after DA2 and Inquisition is WILD. Even if they had said: “It’s Baldurs Gate 3 combat this time” LIKE OKAY. I’LL TAKE IT.

    • @Draconiangem
      @Draconiangem 3 месяца назад +4

      It’s not as surprising when a lot of them say they haven’t played any Mass Effect either (which the combat heavily leans on) They only play Origins, skipped DA2 and then played half of Inquisition. Then play Origins 10 more times again. I’m personally excited for the combat because I’m an also big ME fan. It’s very familiar for many of us.

      @@daftspellcastor Daft we just lost companion control, the fourth party member, the player hability to use more than 3 skills/spells per combat, being able to see the hp bars of the other members of the party, the hability of the companions to use more than 3 skills/spells etc... In this trailer we get a bad performance by Neve's voice actor (her city is being destroyed by demons and she is talking like that?!) and we also see how they changed the appearance of demons (the only ones that look cool are the rage fire demons and we don't even get to see Rook battle them). For some reason they decided to shove the Venatori into the trailer as enemies, even though it would make more sense for them to not appear or be fighting against the demons as well, since the demons are destroying the capital city of their empire. And ffs some of the lines the characters speak are just so stupid for some example: Neve wonders how a pride demon that big crossed the veil and Varric says it was attractec to Solas's ego - this dialogue happens even though it is clear Solas is currently tearing the veil, making it easy for the pride demon to come out, plus a giant pride demon in inquisition came out of the veil as DAI's first boss battle, plus we've fought Pride Demons outside the fade many times in other games.
      As for the action combat, I would have loved the DA2 style action combat system if they didn't also remove EVERYTHING else that was good about that system.

    • @daftspellcastor
      @daftspellcastor  3 месяца назад +3

      You clearly care a lot for the DA series and I'm here for it! I'm bias as far as the combat goes because I personally always get excited to see just what different type of combat each DA game will have in store for us. Mass Effect will always be a favorite gem of mine, so when I saw that the combat was akin to ME, I was fully invested all over again. Also, bear in mind, they might have shown certain enemies/bosses in the Gameplay trailer that won't actually be featured at that time in the base game upon release. BUT, I never mind slapping down a Pride Demon, whenever and wherever they might appear! I've also seen stuff about combat utilizing more combos with your party members, which I'm VERY intrigued by. Am I sad to see the fourth slot go? Yes, but only for the added party interactions outside of battle. Although I did see people saying "I never really switched party members in combat before anyways," and I sat there like "Is this a joke? How?!"
