love seeing everyone's reactions today!!!
Same! It's such an exciting time for DA fans :D
@@AGirlAndAGame
I think its been 10 years, varric looks like his in his early 50s our fav dwarf need a va-kay at least his aging like fine antivan wine😉
My guess is messing with the ritual prevented solas from "dealing" with the elven gods, and the two monstrous being we see at the end are corrupted elven god
I'm actually worried for Varric standing so damn close there. I feel like Solas or these corrupted gods/demons will kill him in the process :( When he said to Rook "take care of everyone", it felt like a goodbye!
@@AGirlAndAGame I'm afraid too, him not being a companion, defenseless.
Maybe, just maybe Solas will actually protect Varricn might fit his conflicted savior god complex, Varric might be seen as an unecessary sacrifice and a friend.
Please don't kill bianca and Varric in one go
I also think they're likely two of the Elven gods Solas sealed away, and now they're free. The sheer terror on Solas's face says it all.
@@Timjer92 I don't think they are corrupted...well, not corrupted by the Veil. From the way the previous game made it seem, they were already really bad news. Now, Solas doesn't have a plan to deal with them. I will say, he could have killed Varric right there, but didn't. He DID destroy Bianca who is a character in her own right...or, was. And we still haven't seen the next several moments. This could end up very bad for our favorite Dwarven Storyteller...
I thought the same thing, interfering in the ritual will free the old elven gods and the story will revolve around stopping them
With all the dragon age hype going around it makes me wanna finally try out the games starting with origins.
Omg please do! It's such a fun series to play
@@AGirlAndAGame I think I just might have to especially since they’re on gamepass👀
Omg do! The previous games are sooo good.
Do it. Origins is pretty dark and gritty but so good. It'll only make you appreciate the series more with some content and lore. DA2 was...idk. I played for the story and that's it 😂 it's not terrible, but not the best of the series by far. And Inquisition was 👌
All I know is....my Inquisitor is happily retired on a farm in South Reach, happily married to Cullen with a couple of adorable kids and the marbari from their wedding.
Must be nice 😭 Mine is crying in a cave somewhere because of this bald idiot
You know we gonna pick the most sarcastic option if it presents itself
Sarcastic options are always the best lol
Honestly I’m sold, I’m so excited. Definitely did not scream when I saw solas
Screaming while seeing Solas is an appropriate response 😂
God, this looks AMAZING! I’ve also played all of the games and have been waiting with baited breath for this and I definitely feel sold based on this gameplay alone
Right? We're gonna be able to play this soon ^^
Bringing over the Inquisitor from a Solas romance especially if you drank from the well is going to be a MESS ! Does make me worry about Varric now without Bianca and where Dorian is cuz apparently its been 10 years i heard. They have released so much info which makes me super excited
It's about to get bad bad. Especially for those Lavellan romancers who did EVERYTHING to please Solas lol we're doomed. But I wanna know what the Inquisition crew has been up to as well!
@@AGirlAndAGame saw someone mention how Cole would feel about all these especially if something happens to Varric....
As soon as he touched Bianca this officially become personal.
Very
Not Bianca !!! I think this is awesome. I can respect those going, 'but it's not Origins', yet that game was 15 years ago.
It is what it is. Honestly every game has changed and I've been fine with it. Some people aren't and that's okay too.
The gameplay showcase really reassured me, I was on the fence with the looks of the trailer, glad they keep a realistic look to it. The city looks awesome. I'm kinda ok with the more action focus because it looks well done.
Kinda sad we cannot (It seems) switch to another class, sometime I just want to play Cassandra or a Rogue on my mage.
There's still a chance we may be able to! BioWare plans to reveal more over the summer, so hopefully we'll know something about that! And yeah, I'm liking the more action paced gameplay, granted I did enjoy GoW's gameplay, so I can be on board with this.
I do have a concern about the writing. Solas was getting built up as this big threat and has elven followers, but the cast manages to throw a wrench into his plans at the beginning of the game. What I’m assuming are Evanuris coming out of the veil are most likely going to take on the role as the antagonists. While the Evanuris are interesting and I’m glad that we get to learn more about them, but it came at the price of reducing Solas as less threatening. Idk it just seems wasteful to me.
Especially with Solas being a villainous hero mix… I just hope they do him right either way whether we kill him or he decides to try and turn over a new leaf. 😩
I'm hoping that's not the case because as much as I love Solas and want him redeemed I need him to be a straight up villain first. Patrick Weeks who wrote Solas is still writing for this game, so I'm hoping they're just hiding everything for spoiler reasons. But I guess we'll find out in the Fall.
@@AGirlAndAGame Patrick is such a fantastic, thoughtful writer. And, we still get Solas' iambic pentameter! So, I'm not worried at all about the quality of the writing. I am, however, concerned about how much heartbreak they're going to dish out on us (I've heard some of the people who saw the full hour behind-the-scenes legit cried ... argh!). :-)
I'm worried about this, too. All that build up and Varric is just waltzing up to him, ten feet away, while we disrupt the Dread Wolf's plans level one in the background, it just doesn't sit right. I hope they reconcile this in the writing and don't just yeet him unceremoniously from the plot
It's nice to finally see someone as excited as I am (and share my 'Varric is sexy like this' opinion LMAO). Though I feel like the only one happy with absolutely everything I'm seeing. Ofc this isn't THE game, just the tip of the iceberg, but everything from the looks, to the mechanics of everything and the combat, to the music MY GOD THE GORGEOUS AMAZING MUSIC so far is EXACTLY my cup of tea.
And as someone who has taken in ALL of the extra outside DA content (books, etc), I'm stoked. Also, I heard we're getting 4 voices for our protagonist again!
Also, I am SO torn between playing off my first and canon timeline first (Inky was besties with Solas and romanced Dorian. Trespasser still destroyed me lmao) oooorrr going my Solavellan game first (also who knows what's happened the past 9 years! If you romanced him, it does say he visits Lavellan in her dreams. I'm HUNGRY to know all that's happened, influenced and potentially changed in the years that have past). I better be able to play two games at once or it's gonna KILL me.
I'm also TORN TO SHREDS on choosing my Rook. I know for sure I'm going Crows first as my background. And Mage (I have read we'll have melee or ranged options). But idk if I wanna play an elf or qunari lady or dude. And like, which combo for which 'worldstate'. AND THEN WHO TO ROMANCE WITH WHICH COMBO AS WELL, IT'S TORTURE.
The gameplay definitely feels more evolved from inquisitions which I’m so on board with. The tone also feels the exact same as inquisitions. Which I’m hoping will please most of the fanbase.
I feel like most of the negative reception is from the expected dark and gritty tone of origins. However as soon as I saw the title font and the color pallet they were going for months ago I knew that this wasn’t going to be the case. It’s still mature nonetheless which is okay.
Overall really excited for this!
Yeah, I'm getting that feeling as well!
and it makes total sense for this game to be a bit more colorful anyway, because most of it will take place in Tevinter and not Fereldan. Fereldan is dark, gritty, depressing, etc and Tevinter is a magical hub of Thedas, of course it’s going to be super colorful and whimsical lol
@@im_azraelle Tevinter is also the center of the slave trade, war with the Qunari, etc. It SHOULDN'T be colorful except in the rich areas of the city which are unaffected by the war and benefit from slavery. Everywhere else should be gritty with historical buildings but shady characters and a depressing state. Especially the slave quarters.
It's like having a game set in 1800's Southern United States, yes the plantation houses will be beautiful but right outside of them there is no beauty to be found, Bioware shouldn't be hiding that.
@@boodstainwell we’ve only seen 20 minutes of gameplay, all inside Minrathous. so we shouldn’t say they’re hiding from it when we haven’t seen outside the city (besides a small section of the Arlathan Forest that was being corrupted by Solas’ ritual)😅
i wouldnt call this gameplay an evolution tbh. “streamlined” to get rid of any nuance might be more closer to what we will actually get. cuz lets be real that old crpg combat is niche. newer players are going to be bored with that style.
Game looks great, so does the new combat. Its a shame people are calling this crap, will admit don't think the trailer was good.
But I am looking forward to this game.
Heard a rumor the inquisitor may reappear, just a rumor though. Can't wait till it comes out.
People jump to conclusions + mob mentality (I think) which is a shame. But you're not gonna please everyone unfortunately. So, might as well just enjoy it for yourself, you know? And I think Inquisitor will, because apparently we can customize them before starting the game!
Dragon age 4 gameplay looks amazing and badasss too🔥🔥🔥
I'm excited to see the other classes! Hope they keep the same vibe with them too :)
@@AGirlAndAGame yeah I agree with you 👍🏽
I know some purists are gonna hate that the gameplay is more action-focused, but as the FF7 Remake games have proven, you can meld RPG and action together and make it work (XVI as well probably but I haven't played that yet).! I'm cautiously optimistic.
Very true!
Solas said "people die everyday, B" wow
Yeaaaaah not a good look for him when he's excuse is "I'm saving my people".
@@AGirlAndAGame I've got replay Inquistion as an elvan women and romance him because I was so lost regarding his motivation....
Honestly, I can tell that this one is going to be one of those games that will get overly hated upon release and then as time progresses on, people will realize how the hostility was overdone. Something like Arkham Origins or Assassin’s Creed Unity.
BioWare be cooking 😌
This game is going to be a smash, I cannot wait
Same! ^^
Can I Just say great video, and awesome reaction! In the sea of negativity, I was pleasantly surprised to come across your video. Thanks for being funny, objective, charming and optimistic! I wish I could give you more than one like, but I am only one person. Wonderful stuff, thanks again!
Aw thank you! It is what it is you know? If people don't like it, that's their opinion. I'm gonna enjoy the hell out of this game when it's out so 😂
Harding voiced by Liara’s VA now becoming a squad mate? ROMANCE DONE. ALREADY DECIDED. TAKE MY GOLD.
Bianca breaking is blatant foreshadowing for Varrik's fate in this game...
I feel like it is 😭
Okay took me 64 hours of dragon age for the first time but I finally can watch this video now. Yay!
I’m curious, are you going to replay Inqusition before Veilguard comes out? I watched your play through years ago and I loved it, it was my first time watching you! If you don’t I might just rewatch it, but either way, I’m so excited to watch you play this, and just in general about the game
I sadly cannot because I'm in the last stretch of my pregnancy so I don't think I'll have a lot of time to play DA:I before this game but whenever it's out, I'll be sure to do some brushing up on lore. That way we're ready for this game :D
Oh, I just realized how inconvenient the timing of these release are for you, since you have your very own release date to contend with😅😂
SOLAS! 😂❤ Do you think at the end it was some of the Gods he had locked away? 🤔
Yes! He did say tearing down the veil will bring back everyone who he sealed away, just a matter of who the heck they are because a lot of the Evanuris are not the nicest 😬 (Like Solas is considered one of the kindest, so if that's telling of anything)
@@AGirlAndAGame the way I laughed out loud at this though! “Solas is considered the nicest.” 🤣🤣🤣 You’re absolutely correct though!
I think we might lose our favorite crossbow companion
I honestly think so too 😭
Yay, I'm so happy you reacted to it. I love how a lot of people have the same reaction to having Solas on screen again. I'm so giddy about the new game and can't wait for all the probably very angsty new fanfictions. 😂
Hahaha it's been so long, we all needed to see something 😂 Fanfiction is gonna be nuts when this game is out
i am also glad that Scout Harding is making a reappearance. and i sincerely wish for her to be romanceable this time. lol
She is.
Same! Lol
I lowkey prefer Solas' new face
Aside from the egg, there's a few bits I'm missing from the trailer that I'm hoping are in the game, like being able to switch between party members in battle, and names of the enemies appearing in battle on the screen. I feel like sometimes the facial animations look a bit "AI not mastering facial expressions". Also, seems like mages aren't limited to staves? Solas had a knife and Neve had another weapon. And I like the fact rogue could go between bow and knives
I can see what you mean about the facial expressions, especially the mouth movements. Which I know a lot of studios now are using AI for the lip flaps so animators can focus on the overall animations (which I get).
They confirmed you cannot control your party. You can only select abilities to use with a wheel, exactly like the Mass Effect series.
I'm happy for the Dragon Age fans. Us Mass Effect fans gotta wait a little longer 😄
Soon it'll be Mass Effect's turn and I'm so excited about that as well! 😊
@@AGirlAndAGame lol yep
Love your reaction! Really appreciate the comments from the story and lore aspects, didn't find many of those in other reaction videos.
Now I really gotta play Dragon Age: Inquisition! But I'm not sure if any of the other games can be played on PS5.
good choice, it's a pity though that you already know the big plot twist about Solas, it shocked everyone at the time
Looks good. I've never played DA, which should I start with?
I’d recommend starting with Origins if you can. It won’t disappoint! It’s not that long of a game but sooo good!
If you want to and don't mind waiting to start Veilguard later, I'd recommend from the start, Dragon Age: Origins. However, I do think people can pick up the story from Dragon Age: Inquisition. Of course a lot of the lore will go over your head, but if you pay attention to the characters, I believe you can pick up what's going on!
@@AGirlAndAGame Sounds great! I may start with Inquisition. ❤ Thank you!
I'm even more hype now, I'm thinking most of the hate comes from gamers who think graphics make a game good, or just people who use woke to mask racism or homophobia
So many of the people who got to play DA for an hour or so spend so much time talking about the character creator and how it looks good, etc. Not a single soul spoke about mage combat so nobody got to see that (and I'm worried it will be trash because basic attack + 3 abilities behind a pause menu sounds AWFUL). And very little time was spent talking about the combat or how fun the gameplay was (or wasn't). Whenever I see so many IGN-types spend so many words on aesthetics and character creator, I usually see a game that has huge issues with gameplay and being fun.
Quite a few people described it as Mass Effect-like and I don't think that's a good thing. We don't get fun guns alongside our pause abilities in ME and, not to mention, expectations from a sci-fi shooter vs mage combat = not the same.
I've never played a Dragon Age game, but this looks so cool! I really want to pick it up when it comes out and find out all this lore I don't know! xD
It's a fun journey going through all the games! So I hope you do 🥰
if you want to know more about the lore of the saga, on the channel "Wizards and Warriors" there are in-depth information videos on this topic
Alright, don’t need to tell me twice to load up Dragon Age Inquisition again… lol 😂 I’ll be keeping an eye on Dragon Age Keep to make sure my choices are correct for how they will affect Veilguard!
So excited for this game!
Bestie same here. I was very curious how they did the mage class
i knew drinking from the well would be bad when it happened so i never did it despite her being an elf because short term gain doesn't negate for long term impact (which was my resoning and her because i made her cautious)
but yeah, i am a bit nervous about the cole thing
My dumbass was like "what's the worst that could happen" lol but if Cole is less human, I imagine it's harder to convince him to side with us :(
My only issue with this is that it looks more like a hack and slash than an rpg? Like for the most part they’re just pressing one or two buttons rather than using abilities so just doesn’t seem to strategical. But also this is just a small clip so hopefully there’s more to it. Looking forward to it either way!
I guess this is considered more of an action RPG now, but I know I'll miss the strategic part of DA's gameplay if that's it. We'll have to wait and see more over the summer since they plan to release more info!
I haven't even watched your reaction but I'm so happy Dragon Age is your fave game series!!!! It's one of my all time faves as well and I can't wait to watch you play!! I subbed for the BG3 let's play but I love your play style so it'll be very fun to see you play the new DA!!!!
Expect the same thing for Dragon Age 😂 But thank you for watching my BG3 series!
Varric was sarcastic with everyone.
Ya im hyped. I thought it looked great! I like how the combat looks, and hopefully we get to see more of the warrior or mage soon.
Hoping! I read that the mages can do both far and close combat, so I'm curious how that'll play out.
Did Varric dye his hair black or am I misremembering his past appearances?
hes getting old
No, I'm seeing a ting of his red hair but it's for sure faded and most of it is turning gray, he's just getting old :( Also lighting is probably effecting how we're seeing it, since it's so dark in this video.
Varrics new hair colour has something to do with a graphics novel released in 2023. It's called "Missing", and it's apparently a bit confusing. But strawberry blonde does not go that dark due to age by any natural means, PLUS his chest hair suddenly regressed! That & Bianca was his pride & joy. 😭
Combat reminds me of the witcher games, I like it 😁
Do i have to play other DA games to get into this????
The plot of the saga is quite interconnected, so having played the previous games is certainly preferable
- Dragon Age Origins is the progenitor and perhaps the most appreciated by players; it came out many years ago, the graphics are quite dated, but if you don't mind retrogaming it's not a problem
- Dragon Age Inquisition is the most recent, several returning characters in Veilguard are introduced there, it's a pretty extensive open world, takes a good amount of hours to complete it
Honestly would be better to play all of them. But if you want to just play Inquisition, I feel like you can pick up on everything
i really hope this game turns out good. im way too cynical over EA to not be skeptical.
i mean.. my bingo card had bianca destroyed and varric dead..
..
not saying it will happen.. but.. i'm not saying they ARE NOT setting up exactly for that!
Also you will have to break the news to either hawke or the Inquisitor ...
:D
Honestly I think Varric is gonna die here 😭 I hope I'm wrong
What did Bianca ever do to you Solas😭
It's so personal because he knows how Varric feels about Bianca 😭
he met the actual bianca
enough said
I miss Cassandra ngl
Me too!
maybe she'll make an appearance in the game, as in Dragon Age Absolution
My only main gripe with this gameplay is, where's all the blood? I want it to actually look like I hacked my way through a fight. Other than that, I don't much mind the "modernisation".
It's an early build
I wonder if it's an option to turn on/off? A lot of games have been doing that recently.
@@AGirlAndAGame Yeah, as far as I remember Inquisition had that too.
In DA2 there were rivers of blood and the bodies exploded like firecrackers, I can't say I don't like that they reversed direction
😅
Just wanna confirm, Micheal Gamble (Project director) posted a screenshot on Twitter of blood! So looks like it can be turned on/off in the settings 👍
AGirlAndAGame the game reminds me of God of War and Diablo gameplay
u can't switch character, that's kind of a big deal to me honestly, and it doesnt seems like u can't command them as well to move in a specific position?? there's no strategy in this but literally just hack and slash action game
Yeah I saw it was confirmed, which kind of sucks. I do like controlling the other characters and having that strategic feel. I guess this is more to appeal to the masses?
YOURE AWESOME
My reaction to Dragon Age: The Veilguard is very interesting.
Right? :D
Dragon age sooo awesome 🎉🎉🎉
People are being super negative, but im excited!!
Lol, people mass disliking anything related to the new game. Reactions included. It just feels sorta petty
That’s my husband! My evil husband! 😩👍🏻
And we'll love him all the same... Even if he kills everyone 😭
People can hate on this game all they want and make of this game what they will but the gameplay speaks for itself, it looks so much smoother and fluid than inquisition and commanding your companions like in Mass Effect is a very nice touch. I will definitely keep an eye on this and give this game a fair shake when it comes closer to release, I really hope the reception is good. And I hope you have fun with this game when it comes out, don’t listen to the haters, play what looks fun to you and makes you happy. ☺️
Also new sub here. 😁🥰🫶
Thank you for subbing and welcome! ❤
Honestly, you can't please everyone. I'm just going to enjoy my favourite game when it comes out and if people don't like it, that's cool lol
@@AGirlAndAGameRight, no one game is for everyone, but some people gotta chill for a game that’s not even out yet. 😂
@@battlefuta9953 That’s because this is clearly the first opening segments of the game the most boring by the numbers default basic starting point, otherwise known as the tutorial area. Of course it looks trash to you. Call me coping if you want but, part of me thinks they are really not wanting to spoil too much of what the game has in store. And if not then we shall see when it comes out but this wasn’t the first time preview trailers showed low level gameplay and the game after release hid the best mid to high level content. All we can do is wait.
@@frozone-yeah bioware in no place to be secretive.
If this game flops they done, it's there last chance
All I want is my cast from Origins gimme that and ill forget about the game being League of legends
I really loved Dragon Age Origins, Awakening, and 2. This is just my personal opinion, but I'm still quite a bit worried.
I'm not as bothered by the artstyle now that I've seen it in gameplay, but the tone and the writing still feel a lot like Inquisition (AKA just a little bit too Marvel-feeling), which is the only Dragon Age I ended up not liking. I'm not a huge fan of the combat being so action based (feels like the tactical element is almost nonexistant now), and I'm worried that the regular enemy health bars are going to become damage sponges by the latter half of the game, which was a huge problem for me with Inquisition. The use of dialogue choices feels scaled back even from Inquisition, though this could be because it is early in the game. I do not like the demon redesigns, and really hope they are just skeletons that haven't properly materialized yet.
I have other concerns (sidequest quality, camera angles, bloat, story, villain and companion writing quality) that I will need Bioware to show they have improved before I decide when I will get the game and how much I will spend on it.
That's just my opinion, though, and it is nice to see some people being more enthusiastic about the game again after the backlash the reveal trailer got. Sorry if this was a bit negative.
That's okay! Honestly, not everyone will see the same and it's fine. I get the hesitation especially with how Andromeda was (and Anthem). We'll just have to see how this game will be when it's out.
lol
This feels like it's been completely turned into "Mass Effect with swords & magic" now, doesn't feel like DA anymore, all action, giant set pieces, just 2 uncontrollable companions etc.
I'll probably give it a try since I've played every DA game but is pretty disappointing that it's seemingly just a straight up action hack n slash now & I don't have much expectations for the story since I'm pretty sure most of the original DA writers are gone from Bioware now 😐
Patrick Weeks is still writing for this game and they've been there since Origins. Also responsible for writing Solas' character in Inquisition. So there someone
The biggest problem is this doesn't look/feel like a Bioware game. If it was under a different developer and name, it would be decent. But look back on Dragon Age Origins, Dragon Age 2, and Dragon Age Inquisition and this feels off. The combat looks better don't get me wrong, but the characters, writing, and setting feels off.
I understand. David Gaider isn't a part of this but Patrick Weeks is and they've been there since Origins but they're heavy on writing Solas/Inquisition. To me this game is giving the same feel as Inquisition. So hopefully if another trailer comes out we can see more of what the story will feel like.
Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, but all DA games have been different. I think having 2 companions is the most bothersome imo, and it isn’t that deep.
I hate the combat just like I hated combat in Inquisition because it shifted from party combat to basically solo combat with a party around otherwise I like the look of the game.
That's fine! I do wish we could control the companions, make the battles more interesting.
Dragon Age this aint it
This looks so awful. A lame estus system that refills from green pots? Less player control over companions? The worst looking cast yet? What happened to this being a dark fantasy instead of third person valorant?
WHY IS VARRIC SO FINE HELP- I mean he was always fine
Bruh Solas has some EXPLAINING to do BUT OHMYGOSHIMSOEXCITED. SOLAS MY LOVE, I LOVE YOU BUT YOU DONE LOST YOUR MIND BOO
He aged so damn well lol
You know what's sad, his face when Varric first speaks to him. Then he immediately shuts his emotions down. Reminds me of when he first sees Inquisitor in Trespasser :(
