The space across from the airport is a prime spot for an entertainment/nightlife/culture space. It is far too loud for residential, the permanent offices would probably like to be closer to the downtown and industrial would need heavy rail projects to make the location viable - but if you put an olympic complex (outdoor stadium, indoor sports hall, exhibition centre) there and dot cafés, nightclubs and stuff like that around, it would become a very profitable sliver of land for the city, because these uses don't care for the noise and don't need heavy rail.

this is so iconic to watch, i would never start watching from the start but because i have followed this series from the day one it has become iconic. the music, voice, everything, it's like a told story of humanity...

The strip of land opposite the airport seems perfect for an "old harbour" type area, like it used to be industrial but has since been gentrified. Could be a fun place to use some of the fancier unique buildings!

I see what ya did there with the intro..... very nice
I do think the a lot of the ground level should be much closer to the waterlevel, everything in the everglades is 1 rainstorm away from flooding.

The Eggerglades looks amazing! Always amazed how great you can make vanilla CS1 look. I think I might have mentioned it in last episode, but the unused land across the airport looks like a good place for a TOD. Some Green Cities highrises and a few shops around an elevated train or metro station and transitioned down to lower apartment buildings further away from the station. I'd also say the waterfront there would be a good location for the aquarium and possibly some other unique buildings you haven't used yet to give something of interest to the neighbourhood.

maybe the eggerglades can be beter if you lower de elevation in the whole area. So it's more shallow and the water is more logical flowing. Also maybe some more dry waterchannels that run down from the mountain?

I'm really liking CS2, but for me Orchid Bay holds a special place in my heart. Hard to believe it's been 69 episodes of fun. Next time you could do an extended tour maybe for ep. 70? So many cool places in Orchid Bay, and I'm sure we all have our favorites. It's been a fun ride since it began on January 1st. Thank you for continuing this city. I've really enjoyed the weekly episodes, your sense of humor, and your eye for vanilla detail.

That parcel of land next to the airport could be used for a tourist area - tourism specialisation, unique buildings, hotels, etc. Ideally situated due to its proximity to the airport and downtown.

I'm pretty sure your little hotel will have more than met it's "nature" quota by the time you'd done detailing. All it wants to fulfill that need is trees :)
Why not call that central tourist destination "The Orchid Bayou" - I got proper bayou vibes from the build too (plus it's a great name for a pub).

Nice work as always. I went in a different direction with this space. I’ve used my favourite place as an inspiration. Belfast. Called it Lil Belfast.
It’s in quarters. Queens (University), Titanic (ship building), Cathedral ( mix of shopping malls and unique buildings) and Gael ( mostly residential and some university city)

Egg, as a general aviation pilot getting my degree, (in Florida no less) I can say that that sliver of land in between the mountain and opposite the airport would be PERFECT for the general aviation club, if you put the runway parallel, it would take a lot of inspiration from the airport where I’ve been training, Melbourne International, in Melbourne, Florida. I think it’d be a great piece to complete the area, and also, maybe some light industry, warehouses, and city utilities. Maybe a ferry stop? But one thing that’s gotta be added if you go with this plan, is plenty of areas and viewpoints for aviation geeks to watch and spot the aircraft in and out of both airports, it’s a prime spot for a general aviation paradise!

Space across from the airport: check out the cruise ship port in Malaga. Specifically the peninsula leading to the docks. There's a huge park, as well as a bunch of restaurants and shopping, all surrounded by hotels and condos for travelers. Interesting spot to hang for a few hours.

You still have the hotels stuff , so you could terraform into the ocean like they do in Dubai , and make a holiday resort like the Dubai palms and have residence live on there but instead of a palm tree use a orchid design and call it orchid springs resort

I just built a swamp area on the outskirts of the map, the shallow end of a deep bay, on console. Limited resources, but I’m really happy with the result.
The vanilla game won’t let you place shrubs and bushes under water, but it will let you place them on dry ground, and then flood them. Similarly, the lowest height you can place a foot path bridge over water is significantly higher than the lowest elevation step you can do over dry land.
So basically, I flattened out the area I wanted to turn into a swamp to pretty much even with the water level of the main body of water that the swamp would be connected to, and used a small dirt berm as a breakwater to keep the water out during construction.
Then I placed my “boardwalks” by using the vanilla dirt path, elevated one step on the lowest increment. Then I filled in the swamp area using mostly the Tall Grass Cluster and Lantana bushes from the content creator trees, with the random odd Wild Hedge and Pacific Rhododendron scattered in the mix (manually placed hundreds of these, it was painful lol). All these bushes have really good collision mechanics, so you can get them to overlap quite a bit. I tried using the Ground Covers, but their draw distance on console is so bad, they disappear from view as soon as you zoom out at all.
With everything place, I removed the dirt berm, and then gently levelled the terrain to be roughly one contour line below the surface of the water. All of the bushes move down with the terrain, and the boardwalks stay in place, since they’re an “elevated pathway”. Then very very gently slope the edge of the swamp for the transition to dry land, which is also full of the mixture of bushes, before transitioning to forest.
The water floods into the swamp area, but because all the bushes were placed before the water, they remain in place. They actually die partially, as if they were being polluted, but it actually makes the Long Grass Clusters look kind of like reeds. The little pops of pink from the Rhododendrons is very subtle, but you can still see it through the surface of the water, and it makes the swamp feel more alive. The boardwalks sit perfectly a couple feet above the surface of the water.
The area I did was a fraction of the size of the Eggerglades, but I was pretty proud of myself for coming up with the technique (I’m sure others have done it before me though), and am extremely pleased with the results, given the limitations of console. Would love to see you give it a try, in a smaller area of Orchid Bay, or even Thessia. Sorry for the long write-up lol.

As for that little strip of land by the airport, I think a small hotel/resort district would be a good addition. A place for those folks who are stuck in Orchid Bay for a layover to stay, you know? (And maybe stay for longer, lol.)

Fun episode and super creative! I love nature reserves anyway. We have a few around here and it's a lot of trees and trails with some ranger cabins and such also. Rangers are a must when part of it is a Gorge and people continually get hurt or lost. Not sure about everglades type places, just mountains. Really cool build again!! 🤩

Loved the episode. For the little strip of land I would keep it simple, and just like the entrances of most National Parks that I have been to there are basic services: a general store to get supplies (propane, firewood, ice, beer, ciggies, brandy), and a gas station, and a roadside motel.

All I can think of for the area opposite the airport on the road towards the eggerglades is some sort of trailer park-esque area on the way out into the boonies. Imagine it'll be hard in vanilla but low income vibes feel sort of relevant. The sort of thing people want to gentrify because it is near the airport and vibes but also it is much nearer the swamp than the city so there isn't actually any real desirability there

I'll suggest it again for that area by the airport, or anywhere else!
Im pretty sure you haven't used the Lemonade Factory yet. In one of my builds, I used it as the basis for a private Green development.
Basically my lore idea is that Yaxu (the name of the company on the factory) funded a sustainable living neighbourhood for their factory workers.
I used Green Cities Low-Dens Residential and Commercial, with a Vertical Farm and 2 smaller High-Dens towers as the height pop in the area.

first of all, great build and idea! i was thinking that as the trees have all been planted now whether you could drop the 'land' level down a contour line or two that would cause it to flood periodically and really feel swampy. Obviously you couldn't do that for the areas with buildings but for the other areas it may be a good look! keep up the great work bud!
