Concerning resolutions, I started making super attainable goals. My favorite was “get good at using chopsticks “. Super simple and gave me an excuse to get/make lots of chopstick-worthy foods…. Also Happy 5 months!! Our first year was full of growing pains, but you seem like you’re having a great time!

My theory on sounds and smells evoking memories so strongly is that since sight is our primary sense, we don’t pay as much conscious attention to the other senses, so the impact is more visceral, if that makes any sense at all. More importantly, congrats to your sister and her husband!

Have you ever thought of trying a wolf-cut on your hair? Supposedly you don't lose any length, but it makes the front frame your face. I have seen Brad Mondo (hair stylist) has a tutorial to do it at home. I thought of you when I saw how pretty they turn out.

Strong sensitivity to sound and smell is common in ADHD and Autism. It's about the way your brain is wired giving you extra strong reactions and also extra strong senses in general. You might also be extra sensitive to touch for example and possibly find lables in clothing very uncomfortable or something rubbing your skin to be almost unbearable. You can also have extra sensitivity to texture which can present in foods, like needing eggs to be cooked a certain way or just generally finding certain textures revolting or really nice.
about the question on why scents and sounds make you feel emotions … Our brain processes sensory information through our emotional parts of our brain like the amygdala and hippocampus, which are responsible for memory and emotions in the brain! ^_^

I believe it might also be common with ADHD
