Great report from the festival. Though I wasn't there, some of the "Wolfpack" aka Lovebites fans attended, and had a LOT of praise to how it was run. As you said: very "cleanly" managed!
I love metal festivals, but they do have some problems, take Sweden rock as an example. It draws some 30-40 -thousand people every day for 4 days, tickets are 400 Euro, or 150 Euro per day if you just want to go two days its still 300 Euro. The food is very expensive and so is beer. Second problem is the bands, Judas Priest, Iron maiden and other big bands are very old now, and wont be around forever, JP 2-4 more years? one last album? Maiden 5-10 more years? Who will replace them? The other big names that sell tickets are also quite old. They need newer bands and promote them. Bands that formed 2000-2010, bands that are 20 years old with band members born 1980-1990 and even born 2000. But where are the bands?
There are some very good newer bands in the different metal genres. For example Jinjer, LOVEBITES and Slaughter to Prevail deliver great shows at the earlier afternoon time slots and are in the starting blocks. But you are right, there will be needed a lot of new headliners within the next ten years.
