Met him outside his restaurant one night. After a hour I had to go. The most down to earth, humble person I've met. Thanked me for being a fan the last 45 years like 20 times. Awesome guy.
Absolutely awesome guy! Was at his restaurant for the big party in 2022, won his shirt in a charity auction and got to talk with him for a few minutes. Went back down for the party again in 2023, showed up early this time with a folding chair, etc, and since the crew was still setting up, I walked right up to the edge of the stage to get a closer look at the artwork on the drums, it was the Legacy of the Beast kit. Nicko came out to do some adjustments to the kit, looked up and gave me a smile, then paused to come over and greet me, remembering me as the one who'd gotten his shirt the previous year! Absolutely floored me, he spoke with me for maybe 5 minutes tops, a full year before, had the stoke, did the tour and everything - and still recognised me and took a moment from his task to say hello.
When I went to his restaurant he sadly wasn’t around, but what a great place. The food was top notch, people were lined up out the door waiting to pick up their to go orders. Maybe I’ll get to see him next time!
Found these guys in 1979 on the shelf at the local Ben Franklin Store (which is gone now) at the age of 12. After my paper route, I bought the album "Killers" because the cover looked cool. Been loving the music ever since! Seen them live 6 or 8 times at my home town of East Troy WI at Alpine Valley concert theatre! Such awesome shows! They were blacklisted from radio for "Being Satanic" i guess from "Number of the Beast", but they always got a few days advertisement just before the show. Yet they always sold a huge number of tickets regardless! So cool to see they're still going stronger than ever. God Bless those guys because they influenced me to learn to play guitar, and become a musician myself. After 25 years of live shows, I had to hang it up. Hands are shot from being a diesel mechanic for 18 years or I'd still be played the Trooper on stage! Miss it so much but we all get old, or die trying! Say high to Eddie for me!
Having followed Maiden for decades I know one thing about the band that makes them even more special. It isn't just their music and live performances. This band is family. Having seen you interview with Blaze and hearing how he still gushes over his time with the band said a lot. The fact that these guys look at former members of both the band and the crew as family makes Maiden special. Nicko has been such an integral part of the band being the third most tenured member with 42 continuous years of service. Being so gregarious to go along with his mad drumming skills makes Nicko indispensable. Only 'Arry and Dave Murray have been in the band longer at 49 and 48 years. May Nicko continue to make a recovery. I'll pray for full recovery. And, yes. Nicko is the best looking of the lot, except for maybe Eddie T. Ed.
Bruh Nicko is so sound. My dad was flying home to Ireland and just so happened to be going to see Iron Maiden. This was the first time they ever played in Ireland so he was excited. In the airport, he met the band (except for Bruce since his son was born that day) and told them that he's flying out to see them and thanked them for coming to Ireland and everything. When he got on the plane, it took off and he saw Nicko walking down the plane until he saw my dad. He went down the plane to find the guy who was flying out to see them 😂. He brought him up to the rest of the band and my dad was drinking and chatting to the band for the whole plane trip. Without Nicko my dad would never have had this experience. Nicko is just one of the most positive people that my dad had ever met. He's one of the greatest metal musicians I've ever seen 🤘
Nicko is my all time favorite drummer. He’s amazing, and the fact that he knows his own limits makes him even greater. I suffered three TIA’s not that long ago and it erased a huge portion of my memory, especially the musical ability was badly affected. He had a genuine stroke which paralyzed the right side of his body, and still he beat the odds and came back full force. Thank god for small favors! 🤘🏻🇸🇪🤘🏻
Awesome T-shirt MP. Will definitely be checking out your merch store. Great video again, as usual. The hard work Nicko has put in and the support from the band an management shows the class of Iron Maiden. And also the help they have given Paul Dianno too. Class act and like a fine wine are just getting better.
Went to the Adelaide, South Australia, concert last night, fuckin epic from start to finish in every way, LOVED IT!! So awesome to see Nicko still being Nicko, UP THE IRONS!!!!
I'm seeing them in Japan in September, and I'm from the United States. I specifically learned Japanese just to see them in Tokyo. I can not freaking wait!
They've to go to Greece and play this tour at some point, would be crazy if they never get to play Alexander the Great in Greece but everywhere else in the world! Love to hear that Nicko feels much better and that the band has no current plans on quitting! I still hope for another album before they call it! Fingers crossed!
Can't wait to see Maiden in Australia very soon. I first saw them here on the Number of the Beast tour in 1982 (yes, i am old!) and chatted with Nicko in an 'in store' apperance about 10 years later on the Fear of the Dark tour. Such a down to earth bloke! I'm also looking forward to seeing Steve's British Lion show two days prior to Maiden's show here, as they are also touring Australia at the same time. This more than makes up for the fact that Maiden had to pull out of their last tour here a few years ago due to covid. Anyway mate, the Australian Government has sent a heap of equipment over to you guys for the war effort, so all the best to you and the Ukranians! Up the Irons!
This is incredible. I'd love to be part of a family like this. Unlike today's age of only being good enough for what you give instead of who you are... Truly positive attitude

I love your videos. Actually I’m going on holiday to Japan in September and the icing on the cake is a ticket to the gig in Osaka. Keep up the good work my Maiden blood brother. Keep safe.

Nickos playing was great. Maybe not completely on par with his younger stuff, but he still played great. Not bad for an old boy recovering from a stroke.

Nicko, still a proper "geezer" after all the years of fame and money. The sort of guy you'd love to sit down and have a few beers with (except I don't think he drinks any more)
I rate Stratego as my LEAST favourite track on Senjutsu so I'm not disappointed it's not featured on the next leg. Super amped to finally hear Alexander The Great (356-323 B.C.) live! And Writing on the Wall and Hell on Earth! 🤘😈🤘 P.S. I'll be seeing them in Aotearoa/New Zealand
I could be seen a picky, but i kind of wish that maiden would mix things up a bit. Rather than playing the same set every night. This is why i love metallica. They switch things up and keep you guessing...but maiden has more songs to sort through, so who knows, maybe its not realistic.
Of course no member is going to snivel about what another member can no longer do. None of them can, and we all know it, since none of us pushing 55+ can. In everything, our best comes before we turn 30.

Saw them two weeks ago and I couldn’t help but notice that most of his tom work is now converted to kick drum. Still sounded great but as a 50yr old who has been a fan for nearly 40yrs I could hear the difference. The absolute standout was Dave Murray who was on point. 🤘🏻
"Instead of just using backing tracks!" Instead of replacing the drummer, you mean. That's what they should have done. His playing is not good. Never mind playing hard parts, he can't keep the time.
I know what I'm going to say sounds bad, but wouldn't it be better for Nicko to step aside? What is going to be next? Hire someone to play him a pre-recorded drum track every time a section arrives that is more complex in the studio and he can no longer play it? I understand that Nicko has nothing to prove at this point and distorting the songs so much so that he stays in the band seems excessive to me. I think he should hang up his "sticks" and dedicate himself to his grandchildren, who are going to do him a lot of good in taking care of his health.
They could compromise by putting on a backing drum track for the bits Nicko can no longer do, then Nicko walks off the stage (or fools around with Eddie) when that plays. For example, Queen have/had to include Bohemian Rhapsody in their set but there’s no way they could ever play all of it live. Audience gets to hear the full song but the band makes it clear that they are using a tape rather than miming their way through.
"I know what I'm going to say sounds bad" no don't worry it doesn't sound bad, it *IS* bad, really bad! As he said, if he can't play every bit of a song, they won't play that song. Nicko is going to stay, even if it means that the setlist must be made to suit Nicko's capabilities.
I think if Nicko steps aside,so will Iron Maiden Steve,Adrian, and Bruce have other outlets,I wouldn't be surprised if Dave would hook up with one of the others . Be happy were getting another round, I won't miss the show when it gets close. Because that just maybe be the last time

Last thing.... wish maiden would tune down... Bruce's voice is struggling in my opinion lately.
Is this the Iron Maiden channel now or what? Lol
I see so many people on the comments that seems positive about senjutsu… I will give it a chance, but I just find an uninspiring album from Maiden.
I love Nicko but maybe it´s time for retirement...

"Instead of just using backing tracks!"
Instead of replacing the drummer, you mean. That's what they should have done. His playing is not good. Never mind playing hard parts, he can't keep the time.
Plums are prunes everybody knows what eating prunes makes you do
Hohly pidory
Nobody actually gives a fuck about any band playing EXACTLY as on studio OR as they played 30-40-50 years ago.
There’s no shame in retiring at age 72. But it could be that if one of them retires from Maiden, the rest will as well.
I think if Nicko steps aside,so will Iron Maiden
Steve,Adrian, and Bruce have other outlets,I wouldn't be surprised if Dave would hook up with one of the others . Be happy were getting another round, I won't miss the show when it gets close. Because that just maybe be the last time
I was really hoping they would include some songs this year🥲, anyway i will always support maiden
