My mom who learned to sew in the 1930s, used this method to fit pants to my body in the 1960s. It didn’t have a name. It was just pants fitting. 😊❤ it’s the method, I use.
We are doing and reviewing this technique in my sewing group. It's been really fascinating to see how different this is from other pants programs we have done in our guild. Different patterns and fabrics, we are learning so much! Thanks!

Hi! I hope you had a cheerful day and are happy! I had a very busy day in my sewing room with 2 dew dates and filming for my channel. I just want to say that I enjoy your content very much. Thank you for sharing your time and talent.
Like many, I've searched to learn more about this method. I have a lot of people asking me if I understand it so I wanted to learn about it to see if I did. A few people asked me if it was actually new or resembled another method. This is what I've learned: This method is a mood. I know that sounds like an insult but it's not! It's a way to get in to the groove of fitting your pants. Being open to how your pants want to hang on you and capturing that fit. The Method: Basically the method is draping the pants on your body. (starting with only a half pant). Anchoring it with a waistband first. Letting them hang and be how they want to be on you! Because you're perfect. I haven't seen any finished pants from this method but that doesn't mean it doesn't work! It's new to many and it takes time to get stuff done. The best thing about this method hands down is how excited Ruth has everyone to fit their pants. Don't give up! You got this! And it may take a few pairs. It takes professionals many pairs too!
But it would be really awesome if there was a specific spot to see the whole method simply written- too many people are frustrated trying to find the method. It's very esoteric to look in instagram story highlights, posts, youtube and whatnot. I finally asked someone if they knew where to find it- she sent me links to four different people's instagram stories and only one of them was Ruth's. Ruth says to look at her Bookmark to a list of relevant posts but I couldn't quite find that or if I did it wasn't instructional so I went onto something else. There's a lot of encouragement though. I'd like to see more finished pants! The one instructional I saw had photos but the last photo wasn't fitting well and there wasn't a final fit photo. They were close though! And looking good. But close isn't good enough for us is it? :) Lots of love! Thanks to Ruth for the pants fitting buzz in our sewing community!
@@SewSewLive It is in the latest issue (#218 which arrives in homes as early as next week!) and was just posted for insider subscribers yesterday at: www.threadsmagazine.com/2022/04/13/practical-pants-fitting
Thank you for your novel way to pant adjustments. I am searching for anything that will help me do my own fitting/sewing a muslin and making well fitting pants.

I have scoliosis of the spine as well as severe lordosis in my lower back-and I always need more crotch depth when fitting. (I have a huge hip to waist ratio, usually 12 or more inches. Right now it is about 16 inches difference!) I can't wait for this issue!! Thank you. :+)
Looking forward to getting the 218 issue but can’t find anywhere else to see this method of fitting. The Instagram postings seem only to show finished garments.

The use of stretch in pants fabric gives the illusion of fit but realistically they may not fit but this is a means to sell commercially more easily
This is a more direct method of using the Palmer & Pletsch paper fitting. Skipping the paper fitting and using fabric directly. I’m anxious to try it.

fascinating thank you
I've thought for years that women's pants should be split in the back like men's to account for perfect fit, especially lower back.
