This guided breathwork is based off of Andrew Huberman's amazing lab work. This is called the 'physiological sigh'. In his opinion, this is the most effective way to calm down and get yourself into the parasympathetic nervous system (rest & digest). Humans spontaneously use physiological sighs without realizing, in claustrophobic environments or in deep sleep when there is a build up of carbon dioxide in the blood stream. This breathing pattern helps offload carbon dioxide whilst increasing oxygen intake, helping us to relax.
Tell me how it went! :)

Thanks a lot! I would suggest to reduce the speed to 0.75 as the deep exhale is too short otherwise
I think the same. Longer slower exhale does it to me.
Agreed
100% agree
Slow the actual speed of the video down to 75%-good to go!
Thanks. It helps.
Way too fast, but still grateful for this video. 0.75 Speed or a bit slower if you feel like you are hyperventilating at normal speed. #Gratitude
Thanks for checking it out :) There's some slower ones soon!! :)
I've uploaded a slower and better version! Have a great day :)
This is excellent man! Exactly what I was looking for after I heard Andrew Huberman talking about it. Thank you for putting it together 🫶🏻😌
Thank you for checking it out 😊
Thank you soo much. I’m in tears now ! Why am I just finding out about this? 😭💜
I’m happy it had a powerful positive (I hope) effect! Glad to help thanks for your comment
Fantastic guide. When I first heard Huberman speak of this technique a couple of years ago I couldn't find a single reference on the net! Now it appears to be getting recognised. Thanks again, the after effect reminds me of how I feel after the Wim Hof method, after the long exhale and resting with no breath. The body feels totally calm and cleansed.
Yeah thats why I thought I'd make one to hopefully help :) I totally agree! I love the WHM!
This is truly remarkable. Thank you.
I'm glad it helped! Thank you :)
Thanks so much this is so much better than the other breathing.
Thank you for this I needed it
Thank you Michelle glad it helped!
Some people have mentioned that it is too fast. Although I like the pace I enjoy a slower pace too, expect another similar video but slower in the next week :)
It's up :)
This was nice
I’m glad you liked it :)
Great! Nice rhythm and pace. Thank you
Awesome I’m glad you enjoyed :)
Thanks for your effort 🙏🙏♥️
Thanks for your comment :)
Awesome video! I was looking for a video for this breathing technique w/ visual queues and this is exactly what I was looking for ❤
Thank you! Have a great day.
Hey! As you may or may not know, I make all the music for my videos. If you're looking for a free way to support me or are just interested, I'd appreciate you checking out my original music! The genre is Indie Pop. You can have a listen here :) linktr.ee/karltomlin
Is this also recommended doing before sleep to help fall asleep faster?
It definitely helps me sleep! I find any breathwork is pretty good for that but yes specifically this one :)
im doing this with an oximeter and after a couple of minutes and trying different playback speeds my heart rate still remains in the 90-100 range - any idea what i could be doing wrong?
Imo too fast. But don't give up, I tried 0.7 speed. Better. Try also 0.5.
Also chech Vagus nerve Breathing (and other) exercise
Really good but way to fast on the exhale. It would be great if you uploaded a couple of versions since alot of people seem to feel the same way
I will create a slower one for you thanks for your comment :)
I've uploaded a slower and better version! Have a great day :)

The only thing is you're supposed to let ALL the air out in the exhale. It'll be nice to know to be sure to do that in that 6 seconds we have to exhale
I will be making another one of these videos and will make that more obvious thanks for your comment :)
yeah slowing down to .5 worked for me.
I've uploaded a slower and better version! Have a great day :)

Any idea why it would make me dizzy/lightheaded to do this?
Apologies for the very slow reply! It is pretty common to feel a bit lightheaded /tingly etc especially if you are new-ish to breathwork. If this happens, just slow down a bit and you'll be fine :) Hope you're well
Is it normal to feel tingeling?
Sorry for the slow reply! Yeah tingling sensations are quite normal but if you feel uneasy then just reduce intensity a bit :)
Why does this rhythm sound like a Dream Theater Song with proggy time signatures LOL
Haha it’s because it’s not 4/4 I guess 😀 very chilled out dream theater though!

Nope!
You see a train coming straight at you, how do you reduce the stress? Well, you can focus on a mantra (meditate), think of nothing (mindfulness meditation) or simply focus on the breath. Since all of these procedures work, should we believe in separate neural mechanisms for each, or just the more common-sense fact that with all of them you are not attending to the oncoming train, which is still coming at you when you are not meditating or breathing deeply? The neglected observation, in this case avoiding thinking about the train or avoiding the train altogether, is supplanted by psychological magic. Par for the course for psychologists who would make wisdom arcane (and profitable) rather than simple and free common sense.

I get how it obtained the name
very similar to trance breathing....
There's quite a few similarities in a lot of breath work! Hope you're well

Apologies for the very slow reply! Glad it helped. Hope you're well!
A bit too fast for me. Thanks.
Thanks for your comment, I’ll be making a slower one! :)
I've uploaded a slower and better version! Have a great day :)
Based ON...not off of.
Its so fast though
I've uploaded a slower and better version! Have a great day :)
This feels significantly too fast.
I will be making a shorter one for the people who have said this! :)
I've uploaded a slower and better version! Have a great day :)
Its so fucking fast feels like hyperventilating and you dont have time to either fill or empty your lungs
You can use the control options to slow it down
@@estherturner1564 yes i feel great at 0.25x - 0.5x but wont it be wrong? Its not the same as studied?
@@MM-oj2pf tbh I don’t think it’s wrong. I do it slower as well and it helps me tremendously. Doing it faster kinda stresses me a little so I slow it down too!
I've uploaded a slower and better version! Have a great day :)
It’s not actual technique Andrew didn’t mentioned three inhale. 😨
It's 2 bro
Yeah, I definitely heard two. But three might still work... Just try it and decide for yourself.
He didn't specifically say how many counts for each as far as I'm aware. I just found the technique super helpful and wanted to create a guided experience for it. And in doing so, to keep a steady pace I had to involve some sort of counts. I've just uploaded a slower and better version of this. Thanks for your comment :)
