  • This is #Azek Deck series on #IKEA #Sjalland. I will give you a review on this dining table set and share some tips on how to put it together. There are couple of key points you want to look for when you shop for a dining table set, the material is very important. Stainless steel and Aluminum would not rust, that's one of the reasons I chose Sjalland. There are some unique features of this dining table set I want to share with you. Believe it or not, IKEA gave me the wrong screw in the package, I hope you don't have the same issue. If you do, I will show you how to solve the problem. Hope this has some good information if you are planning to build a deck yourself. I hope I can inspire more people to DIY. I am NOT affiliated with any of these products, companies or people, I just want to share my experience as a serious DIYer and try to help other DIY people out there. Please give it a thumbs up and SUBSCRIBE to support me!

      Did you experience the screw problem and you have to use the pop rivet like me to fix the issue?

    Excellent video, I bought this set as per your recommendation and it seems very good, thank you. The screws supplied in my kit were Pozidriv, not Phillips, they look similar to Phillips, but they have another cross offset 45 degrees. I tried to tighten them with a Phillips driver and slipped as you did in the video. I happened to have a Pozidriv bit in a set and using it I didn’t have a problem setting the screws. I wanted to avoid using rivets in case I ever needed to tighten or disassemble the legs.

      The chance of disassemble is rare (for me). Indeed, rivets can be removed easily, you can just regular drill bit and drill right through the rivet and it will come off.

    Great video. Can you tell me please where I can get this candle holder on the top of the table at the end?

    What's the height from the ground to the underside of the tabletop? I have some chairs and I want to know if their arm rests will fit under the table.

    It’s a shame this model has been discontinued. I haven’t seen anything similar to replace it yet

    What size were the rivets you used in the table? Also, the bench? Thanks for creating the video!

    • @DIYable
      @DIYable  Год назад

      It doesn't really matter what size of rivets.. the hole you drill does matter though. The size of the hole has to big enough to let the rivet to pass through, leaving just tiny little gap.... so it can expand and secure it. If the hole is too big, it will not be able to secure it.

    If I wanted to reduce the height of the Sjalland table by cutting the legs, what type of blade should I use on my mitre saw? Or should I use a hack saw, or something different?

    • @DIYable

      OOOh... that's a very rare mod. I definitely would use hack saw. Check out this video I had for the BBQ mod, I used hack saw to cut the leg short: ruclips.net/video/o067JYlhUmM/видео.html

    i just bought this and put it together yesterday. everything about it is perfect, except like you, i got bad wood screws to attach the tops and they were impossible to get in. i don’t understand why ikea thought this is a good idea when the entire table is assembled with machine screws. i have loose tops now. such an appalling case of quality control and design, so i left a 1-star review. so stupid.

      Aluminum pop rivet is the way to fix it... honestly, it's a very very good dining table set. I LOVE IT after 2 seasons, it still look like brand new, passed 2 x harsh Canadian winters already with no cover. Snow and ice on it directly, there is zero problem, not even any paint peeling. It deserves more than 1-star LOL..

    Instead on rivets, you could just predrill the holes or use self drilling metal screws.

    • @DIYable
      @DIYable  Год назад

      I am not sure it's easy to find stainless steel self drilling screws... you don't want rust. But good point, that's an alternative way to solve the problem.
